Goosebumps. Every dang time. So much passion. Here's some cool info I googled ❤💚.' Paul Simon was very pleased with Disturbed's cover of his song "The Sound of Silence": He said he liked the cover very much and that it was well done. He told Disturbed's lead singer, David Draiman, how much he liked the cover after it was released. He called the band's performance on Conan "really powerful" and shared a link to the video on social media, calling it "a wonderful rendition". He said the darkness of the video helped convey the song's message.
You missed Roger Waters who was a huge part of what the band is today. He had a falling out with David and had left the band a while back.
I find it interesting that while mentioning band members Roger Waters name didn't come up.
Are you open to a suggestion on a band called Liliac? They are a sibling band made up of brothers and sisters. They have a cover of a Ronnie James Dio song Holy Diver. Check it out. I think you might be surprised.
Empuu playes his signature EV-1 wich is based off of the ESP Horizon And Marco playes his Warwick Vampyre 4 string bass.
These two are ridiculous. The lyrics are not funny. Phil wrote this song while going through a brutal divorce from his first wife, and that is what this song about. Every time he sings this song, he's probably feeling the emotions of that divorce. Think about that the next time you listen to the song.
I seen them when I was 16,18,20,22,and 24 years old. That be 1986,1988,1990,1992,and 1994. Was backstage in 90. Talked to James and Jason. Very great memories!!!!
The song is about NOT turning away from the "weak and the weary", those poor and suffering who need our help. And, David has given much over the years to various deserving charities.
Great insight about when someone wants to cover another’s song, will they add value or just try to mirror what has already been done. Thank you.

New subscriber here. I love your reaction to my favorite band of all time! I’m 64 and still can never get enough of PF and the guitar mastery of David Gilmour. Thank you and keep the PF coming. It’s an almost unending list of songs to discover!
Phil Collins will be premiering on Drumeo. A platform for world reconized drummers for an interview December 18 catch it on you tube to chat about his career as a drummer!!
I've seen them a couple of times live and it's always an amazing atmosphere at the live shows.. I don't know how many friends I have "converted" by taking dragging them along to the concerts ;) ..what's interesting with Muse is not only their creativity about the music itself, but also their instruments. As you can hear, Matt does not just use a "typical" distorted guitar sound, but he uses custom built guitars with MIDI capability and touch-sensors that can control other external sound modules (like a synthesizer could), so they can incorporate i.e. the bell-like sound during the verse or the squealing noise at the beginning.. it's just overall "out of the box"-thinking and quite amazing
David Gilmour is the Master. Try "Comfortably Numb" from "Pulse" live, probably the best guitar solo ever and "Time" from "Dark Side of the Moon" a song of incredible depth and meaning. I know its a reaction but rule number 1 is thou shalt not interrupt a David Gilmour solo!!!
Welcome to magic of Pink Floyd... You will be addict to them very soon. 50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody!
Never interrupt Davids guitar solo, Never
Just for your own enjoyment try the Conan live version …you won’t regret it and at most it’ll be 8 minutes of your life
Nick Mason is the gentleman of toms
You can help keep Phil or better yet Genesis alive and introduce them to a new audience. More more more I'm a big fan of mid 70s Dance on a volcano, firth of fifth. To many to list
Mate…Phil wrote this song about his Ex in the midst their very contentious Divorce…”You can wipe off that grin, I know where you’ve been, it’s all been a pack of lies”…Good Luck Jjh
I had the privilege of interviewing him about 17 years ago. It IS about his divorce. There are so many people who get that wrong.
Great reaction thanks more pink floyd pulse versión please 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉... Mi suscription 👌👌👌👌
These guys were the best of the best. Their live performances were out of this world.
Hi guys, love your reaction great comments. You need to watch some of his latest tour started October and finished November of this year. The guy is nearly 80 years old and is amazing, he is unbelievable there is no difference in his playing from 10, 20 years ago David Gilmour is a musical genius I'm not giving too much away, you need to watch for yourself. I'm nearly 69 years old and i have been following Pink Floyd since 1968 but mainly David Gilmour and i love all his solo albums, you need to have a look at some of his songs/ videos you will be presently surprised. Some unbelievable solos, instrumentals. Give 5am. And then.a listen you will be amazed. Keep PINK FLOYD reaction videos coming guys. Cheers
Floor Jansen the best frontwoman there is today. Nightwish a masterclass band who started back in 1996 in a small town in Finland (near the russian border) Kitee. 2022 in july they held a concert there. I drove my campervan to Finland from Sweden to se them. A night to remember for sure. 10 000 crazy Nightwish fans from all over the world whent nuts. Thank you guys. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤🎉
Phil Collins is an ICON! I remember first time listening to this song back in 1981 it was after a drinkning beer..barhopping night i met this gorgeous lady who invited me to her place for moore beer she put this vinyl on and I remember that night like one of the best in my life. Thank's Phil. Thank you guys for a great reaction. Cheers from a finn in Sweden 👍😃
Rachel Fury one of the backning vocalists (to the right) is the coolest lady. This is one of PinkFloyds best songs for me. Thank you guys for a great reaction. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
Definitely picked up the Celtic. Beautiful song, full of meaning. Great job
Funny.. they just announced a tour. Trying to get to a show.
Terrible to interrupt the solo.
Oh Gosh, listen to the lyrics… they are relevant TODAY… almost 40 years later.
Hey guys, watching from the beautiful country side from Virginia USA. Don't know if you've reacted to Little Feat Spanish Moon. I really think you will enjoy this.
From what I understand it was just Dave and Nick official members , and Rich was still getting paid . Roger kicked him out after The Wall. They later did bring back as a official member
I was at the Nassau Coliseum 3 of the 5 nights they played . 2 of those nights were when this was recorded.
Named in homage' to two old black blues musicians from North Carolina, USA; "PINK" Anderson and "FLOYD" Council, they are the cerebral band of rock!
Released the studio version in 1981, not 91. Song is the result of his divorce.
I assume, as a drummer, you will eventually be getting to Tool, Dream Theater, Zeppelin, Rush, Yes......so many top-tier drummers from the classic period and into the present.
you want to talk "polarizing" voices? Geddy Lee of Rush is perhaps the most obvious. Jon Anderson of Yes. yeah, and even Robert Plant of Zeppelin. Kate Bush, certainly. Jinjer.
Being a Pink Floyd fan, I am also a Nightwish fan. I am happy you chose to enjoy this band. Here is a drop dead version of Phantom of the Opera featuring lead singer Tarja Turunen. You will really like this, I promise. ruclips.net/video/tL25rbnvM4o/видео.htmlsi=_pupXnELC7i2maeX
you are the FIRST reactor I've seen watching this clip who actually knows and recognized Lee! Love the guy. Such a mensch. His RUclips channel helped get thousands of us through the beginning of the pandemic...such a calm and "centered" presence he has. and a crackerjack storyteller. And after 50 years in the business, there are LOTS of stories to tell! ;-). I could listen to him spinning yarns for hours. There's a wonderful documentary out now called The Immediate Family, about Leland and several of his fellow studio players who've been together for over 50 years and all the people who's albums they've played on. I don't know if you can see it where you are....Australia??? But if you can find it, be sure to watch it. You will not believe all the great artists these guys have played with throughout the decades.
of all the tours that Lee Sklar did with so many fabulous artists.....James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Toto, Lyle Lovett......he always looks the most wistful when he's reminiscing about his tours with Phil and that fabulous group of musicians and singers who toured with him. I think those concerts were the most fun he ever had touring.....perhaps the most fulfilling. Although that Toto tour he stepped into was incredible. The reason was incredibly sad, but he's great buds with Lukather, so I'm sure he had fun.
Phil Collins might have a polarizing voice? Really? Neve heard someone say they didn't care for it. Maybe they just got tired of HEARING it as he was EVERYWHERE in the 80's......but damn, such a fine singer/songwriter. But, as Lee Sklar has said.....If you were to meet him on the street and asked him what he did....he would answer that "I'm a drummer". That's why it was so horribly ironic that drumming, which gave him the most joy, what the ability his lost because of his many health issues......although his voice continued to be fine for touring until their final tour last year.
Not sure if you knew this but he was solo and in Genesis through the 80s...both at the same time. He's one of three performers to sell 100M albums as both a lead singer of a band and as a solo act. The other two are Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. I'll recommend this Genesis In The Cage Medley for lots of drums and the ultimate frontman/drummer performance. ruclips.net/video/_12_-jzqOlE/видео.html Look for the Genesis Mama video for his best vocal. (I'll save you the trouble, it's about a man's obsession with a prostitute.) And to see the culmination of all the anger he poured into this song over his wife's affair and divorce, look for I Don't Care Anymore, Live from Perkins Palace. The name says it all, but his performance is good. Don't piss Phil off. If this is a rabbit hole you want to go down, I'll warn you it never ends. There's Phil solo, Phil Collins Genesis, Peter Gabriel Genesis (the frontman before Phil), Peter Gabriel solo and Mike + The Mechanics, the band Genesis' guitar player formed on the side. It goes on from there, but this should keep you occupied for quite some time. 😆
And yet he has NOT been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame as a solo artist! Can you believe it?! Only as a member of Genesis. Peter Gabriel has been inducted twice....for Genesis and for solo work. such a travesty.
@@helenespaulding7562 totally agree.
@@schmedrake5429 well, THAT was interesting. Lots of talent on that stage. I’m not a prog fan, so it didn’t “like” it But I sure respected it.
@@helenespaulding7562 It's a different side of Phil than the guy who sings Against All Odds, to be sure. The drummer and one of the guitar players on that video are the drummer and guitar player on In The Air Tonight. They are Phil/Genesis touring musicians. The other guitar player and keyboardist are founding members of Genesis (with Peter Gabriel, who left in 1975). If you are a Phil fan and can tolerate another prog song, he does something in the middle of this one that you didn't know was in his wheelhouse. The amazing thing is that he did it 25+ years later just as well. It's worth the watch just for the fun and the audience work in the middle. ruclips.net/video/eK9a2jLEAfs/видео.html Be careful, though. I lived through this era and knew both iterations, but was way more of a Phil fan. Then I started down the prog hole and now prefer him in Genesis. There are some softer songs like Afterglow (the end of that video you saw) and Heathhaze that I think are among the best of both Phils. But yeah, most Genesis songs are long with lots of instrumentals and I get how tedious or whatever that can be.
@@schmedrake5429wow, THANK YOU for taking the time to reply at length and to give me the link! You are most kjnd! The prog genre I have to take one song at a time. There are individual songs by Yes and Rush and Genesis that I like. But I grew up through this time too ( was 16 when The Beatles broke through) and was captured by folk and then folk rock and blues rock. I adore hypnotic beats ( When the Levee Breaks) because the rhythm reached my soul. Prog I can appreciate intellectually for its intricacy and the creativity and skill of the musicians….but it’s like listening to Stravinsky for me….totally cerebral. I look for music that gives me chills… and prog as a genre doesn’t. BIG exception is Pink Floyd, my favorite band ( from Meddle onward) but I think of them as being in their own genre. Zeppelin Is tied for #1 for me. So…yeah…fell in love with Collins in the 80’s…along with Gabriel, Don Henley, Steve Winwood… all those great lead singers going solo. Got RE-introduced to Phil during the pandemic through Leland Sklar’s channel…..watched all his live concerts and read his memoir. A driven artist at the expense of his private life which is so often the case. Anyway, I’ve listened to Trick of the Tail on a reaction channel and actually enjoyed some of it. But I very much doubt I will come to like Phil more in Genesis….although, later Genesis is much more “accessible” so I do like more of later Genesis than the Peter Gabriel iteration. And yeah…love Chester and was so saddened that their parting was so acrimonious. Love Daryl Steurmer…have one of his solo albums. Thanks again for your time! 👋 PS. Just watched the link. That was FUN! Phil is such an entertainer son so many levels. He can be a cut-up, but deadly serious about his art and a perfectionist. This clip reminded me: Have you ever watched the medley from 1990 Knebworth? Both Genesis and the Phil Collins touring band playing together. And Phil in top “entertainer” mode…a la Blues Brothers. It’s on RUclips. Ah…found the link. ruclips.net/video/MpwwobgMZeI/видео.htmlsi=bEFlNEDu2T287tue
you mentioned that Floyd is a "prog" band. Yes...I guess that might be the closest genre to what they were. But, to me, they were their own genre. I mean, really, there is, at least to me, little resemblance between Floyd's sound and that of Genesis, or Yes, or ELP, or King Crimson, or Jethro Tull, or Kansas or Rush. Perhaps The Moody Blues. What I DO hear is that they have influenced some prog metal bands, such as Porcupine Tree, The Pineapple Thief....both of which have moments of that ethereal sound.
you think that because the audience was sitting, they weren't "there"? hehe.....most of them were stoned out of their minds.....Sitting was what they could handle.
On the subject of band members the bass player in this video is Guy Pratt. He also did Pulse and he was the only band member who was with David in the tour he finished a couple weeks ago. He'd been playing with David then for 39 years.
I was going to mention that. Yeah, Guy's been with Gilmore for at least 36 years......or 39.
He was also Rick Wrights son in law for many years
@@deepsouthNZ now that is a cool factoid. Like Ringo Starr and Joe Walsh being brothers-in-law. Or Robert Plant being Jason Bonham’s godfather. I love shit line that.
@@deepsouthNZ really. Didn't know that. Thanks.
Top class number. The great shame for me is that they play the gem of a middle eight ONLY ONCE! This is great, but I much prefer the album version as the strings are more prominent which lifts the whole song for me.
England has so many Kings.
Well... you forgot to say that Davud Paich also is there
Great reaction from both of you. If I may add - David Gilmour’s guitar is plugged directly into his soul and he does not waste notes! Look forward to more Floyd reactions.
It was written about his very painful divorce. His kit also didn’t have any cymbals. … on a side note ..young sir how did you manage to get that stunning lady to sit next to you? Did you bribe her? Marry her? …you are definitely punching well above your weight..
she's his sister.
@ ouch! … she is still a stunner.
@@davehadley3567she is indeed! And if she were not, your remark would be spot on! 😉
