HOR Siro-Drone & Fedelcode Model 1 Simultaneous Test - Columbus, GA 1/4/25
OUCH!!! Yes, it was loud AF, and yes, it actually hurt up close with no hearing protection! Tinnitus... it go brrr 🤯🫨😬
I finally got a chance to run my Model 1 with the Siro-Drone. The Siro-Drone kinda edges the Model 1 out, but it's somewhat of an unfair match up since the Model 1 isn't able to get up to the full rated speed of 5000 RPM (siren's nearly 100 years old... I'm grateful it still actually works as well as it does) and it runs in reverse. Since I now have an FC to run my sirens, I'll be running fast wail in place of the county's air horn run.
Check out my ambiance video of these two running with the county's system. ruclips.net/video/EIoo6cMo64w/видео.html

Nutty Siro-Drone/Model 1 + Whelen Ambiance - Columbus GA 1/4/24
Просмотров 13121 день назад
This is the ambiance from the SiroDrone and Model 1 taken from the front of the house. Love how the tones clash with the 435 and 560 Hz Whelens in the area while everything is running in alert. It gets kinda nutty sounding when both the city's and my sirens start running in wail/attack at the same time. The slower and smooth wind-ups and wind-downs from the ESC-2030 board driving the main WPS-2...

Botched Ahh HOR Siro-Drone Test 🥴 - Columbus, GA 12/14/24

Back-to-back fails, cause I'm a dummy 🥴😵💫... Be sure to watch the whole video, as I included an ambiance recording of this thing running towards the end. This is the first full test of my recently acquired HOR Siro-Drone siren. In the first video I took of it, I initially ran it on 120V before realizing it was wired to run on 240V, so as a result, it ran at half speed. After that, I gave it a ...
510/560 Hz Whelen WPS-2909 Farley EPZ Ambiance - Ashford, AL 12/11/24
Просмотров 151Месяц назад
While Aiden (@SouthGeorgiaSirens) and I were recording the 2909 in town, we both had recorders at other locations in the surrounding area. This is one of the two audio recordings I got. This was taken between a WPS-2909 and the county-operated WPS-4004 at the fire station. Most of the 2909s in the nuclear system run on custom firmware, which causes the alert tone to peak at 510 Hz as opposed to...

While Aiden (@SouthGeorgiaSirens) and I were recording the 2909 in town, we both had recorders at other locations in the surrounding area. This is one of the two audio recordings I got. This custom 2909 is one of many sirens within the EPZ for the Farley Nuclear Plant. It, like most in the system, runs on custom firmware, which causes the alert tone to peak at 510 Hz as opposed to 560 Hz, as re...
Whelen WPS-2909 EPZ Siren Test - Ashford, AL 12/11/24
Просмотров 256Месяц назад
On Wednesday, I met up with Aiden (@SouthGeorgiaSirens) to record one of the Farley Nuclear Plant EPZ sirens for their annual test. This system is pretty unique in that it consists of Whelen WPS-2909s that, for the most part, run on custom firmware to produce a 510 Hz alert tone as opposed to the typical 560 Hz tone. When this system, and presumably Plant Hatch in Georgia, was planned out, the ...

When you say "Dear Santa" enough times, sometimes he'll deliver 😮 This is my latest siren acquisition. I bought it from a guy up in New Jersey who was selling it and another Siro-Drone which happened to be single phase and dual tone. I ended up going for this one since I have a preference of single tone sirens (yes, I'm an idiot, you don't have to tell me lmao) and I originally mistook it for b...

Recording of this Thunderbeam: ruclips.net/video/NusvrK1r5po/видео.html After recording the 2001-SRN, James and I split to record the Modulator 6048 in Opelika, however when the system ran for the test it did not go off. It, along with the other electronic sirens in the county, appear to be inactive ATM. It doesn't appear that they run Westminster chimes on that system anymore, so if I had to g...

Video 2 from my Alabama trip from this past Wednesday. After the test in Santuck, I met up with David (@freebrickproductions), Harris (@madisoncountysirens4295), and James (@CentralALSirens) to record this 2001-SRN in Autauga County, AL. This siren is believed to have been originally located in Montgomery like the Thunderbeams in this county. It, along with the other SRNs and Thunderbeams in ...

This past Wednesday I met up with David (@freebrickproductions), Harris (@madisoncountysirens4295), Brandon (@DSRX100), and James (@CentralALSirens) to record this Thunderbeam in Elmore County, AL. This siren replaced a Model 2 which replaced a 2V8 and is believed to have been originally located in Montgomery like the Thunderbolts in this county. It is one of I want to say 5 or so active Th...
😬Botched😬 Loudoun ES-1000 Test - Covington, GA 10/2/24

On the first Wednesday of the month, I decided to try some counties I don't usually record in to go for something different for a change. The first siren I recorded was in Butts County; this was the second one in Newton County. As you can tell, this did not go as planned. I initially rushed to Newton County Fire Station 4 to try and record the ES-5000DC that was listed on the siren map. I had a...

I decided to take a second shot at recording another one of Newton County's sirens on 10/16. For this test, I went to the town of Newborn to record this ES-5000DC with Alex (@NepsterWX). Initially we were going to record a Vortex in nearby Jasper County under the impression that they tested at 11 AM given what was stated on the Georgia siren map, but we found out once the time rolled around and...

On the first Wednesday of the month, I decided to try some counties I don't usually record in to go for something different for a change. This is the first siren I recorded that day, located in Butts County (wonderful naming there Georgia 🥴). Butts County has a mix of Whelen Vortex-4s, Vortex-R4s, at least one WS-281/Vortex-O1, and a handful of these Loudoun ES-4000s. I was surprised to find th...

Another upgraded Whelen in the Columbus system! Yay :3 Last week, while I was at the Aquarius Pools in Columbus to get our pool water test for its closure, I decided to stick around for the siren test at noon. I was surprised to discover that this siren had recently been upgraded to an ESC-2030 logic board. I recall reporting it to the EMA a while back when it failed to run for one of the tests...

May I use this in a siren compilation? Your video will be linked in the description.
Sounds like a british siren
Those sirens sound way bigger than they actually are
That sounds trippy
They spin in opposite directions, interesting
Hell yeah love to see it, nice job
🔥🔥🔥
Nice Siren Recording of your Sirens ❤😊DJ2225
Holy HELL those sound awesome together!
Epic!
The 510 should really sound like a different siren totally its unreal to here a 510hz a 510hz sound like a for sure a different siren totally its
Thats cool! Did your siro drone come with a shroud?
No, but it did come with a Federal style support frame. It probably had a Model X style housing at one point. I'm not sure where it came from, but if it was a fire station they probably kept the shroud as a display and let the core go when they swapped to pagers.
Happy New Year to you DJ2225 ❤😊 love ur Content keep going and happy 2025!! ❤
This was coincidentally posted on my birthday!
This sounds like a Screamer S-2 or an S-5.
good evening I just wanted to say a lot of respect to you in the United States
You should buy the other siren!
The 510/560hz combination is such a treat for the ears!
I like it more than 560
goofy ahh kid
Sounds just like an 8-port DC-motor electromechanical siren (the tonality, not the wind-up/wind-down characteristics).
goofy ahh sirex moment 🗣️‼️
Broo have two sirens
🥛🥛🥛🥛
Can you control the pitch using a potentiometer like the Siratone?
No. Whelen produced a special firmware for this system to make them run like this.
@@DJ2226 Thanks for the info 👍
Where can I find the NRC's siren standards?
www.nrc.gov/docs/ml0037/ml003770903.pdf I was able to find some information about siren standards here. I gave it a brief look and did not find anything specifically mentioning 510 Hz tones. It seems to give a broad range of between 500 to 3000 Hz. It seems the default 560 Hz tone would be compliant anyway. I am not sure why 510 Hz was deemed so necessary. Maybe someone with more understanding of this document could shed some light on it. Quote: 4.5.6.3-15 Frequency of Tonal Signals Center frequencies should be widely spaced within a range of from 500 to 3,000 Hz, although a wider range of from 200 to 5,000 Hz may be acceptable.
I think I heard this😂
Do you live in Columbus? If you stay close by it's possible since I ran it after Columbus, Ft. Moore, and Russell County finished their tests.
@DJ2226 I do live in Columbus!
So is this 6 port? Sure is an odd hunk of metal
9 port. The rotor has different vane lengths like a Fedelcode Mach 1/3, but it's inverted to give 6 long vanes and 3 short ones. That gives it a funky sounding undertone. It's like the Mach 1/3 in that it's reminiscent to something like a 12 port Model 7, but the inverted lengths causes it to also sound somewhat similar to an SD-10.
Enjoyed meeting you there! Maybe we'll catch a 510Hz unit next year lol
The undertone on this one sounds awesome.... I heard a similar noise whenever I was directly beneath the unit on Fryer and Colquith during the 2022 test.
Nice!
0:46 once you see it, you can't unsee it
2 siren
rsh-10 inactive?
Yes. The 4004 replaced it back in the early to mid-2000s
Wow not too many privately owned HOR sirens around.
Where is the street this siren is on?
Now THAT's a rotor design!
Never heard a 560hz with a soft wind-up before, and that's got to be the worst skipping ESC-2020 I've ever heard lol
Such a great sound on this unit. Great video!
Very cool, gosh that raspy old siren sound never gets old. Congratulations!
This is definitely coolest small siren acquisition I've seen yet. Awesome grab!
One of the coolest sounding sirens I've heard. Can't wait to see more videos!
now thinking about it, inverting the short and long vane count might actually be a good idea to have a lot of air pressure while giving it a bit of rasp
Where is that Thunderbeam RSH-10A is it at a Fire Dept I know it's in Alabama
