- Today Georgia held its tornado drill at 0900 as part of its Spring Severe Weather Awareness week. I decided to travel out to Peach County to catch their newly installed 508 sirens sounding off. These are the first 508s to be installed in the state, and this happened to be their first audible test with the rest of the county's system, which consists of mostly Whelen Vortex-R4s with a 2001-SRN located near FVSU and an STH-10A in downtown Ft. Valley. Throughout the test and after the siren winds down, you can hear at least 3 R4s in the surrounding area sounding in alert. I'm not too sure if the SRN by the campus failed to sound off or actually ran but was drowned out by the 508 and R4s. It's not heard in the video.
The system is normally tested on the first Wednesday of the month at noon; however, since today happened to be the day of the tornado drill, they ran them at 9.
