I love your videos, thank you
Thank you, Gloria! ❤️
What embroidery machine is this? I want a nice one to be able to do sweatshirts and hats. Something maybe 10” wide max? Will this do that and what model is this? Thanks. Nice video
This is the Baby Lock Solaris 3. You can do hats but they’re easier on a 10 needle. Otherwise, the new Baby Lock Radiance is the best there is and they’re now taking pre-orders for it.
Love this! Thank you!
🤗
Thanks for sharing. and waiting for more.
🤗
I was hoping that you would go over whether it is just the right needle (I can't recall) or only using the left. needle. Thanks!
Do you have your Quick Reference Thread Guide? I look at it when I’m threading virtually everything. Off the top of my head I’d say right needle.
Could you possibly do the same thing for the Meridian2 machine??? Much appreciated!!!!
I have a video for the Altair scanning which is identical to the Meridian. I don’t own a Meridian, but the system is exactly the same for you.
Wonderful, thank you for video
You’re welcome!
Another great tutorial! Thank you Melinda!❤️
Thank you, Dotty!
I've had this for a long time with my Solaris but never knew what it was for. Lol
You’ll love it!
Hi Melinda, missing you. Hope all is well?
Hi Cheryl! All is well! Thank you for checking in. We’ll be back and running soon. ❤️
@@melindabigleysewblessed Awesome I was worried you were in a fire area or something like that. Glad all is well 🙂
You also want to press it just to park the arm out of the way when you DONT want to remove it but want to go into sewing mode without it in the way. We do it on dream machines and luminaires so I am betting you can sew without removing the entire unit too on these similar babylocks. Just park the arm out of the way and plug in the foot pedal.
Yes, for sure. I never remove the arm.
Why not use a tack spray to hold the bottom layer in place?
You certainly can.
Thank you; I recently purchased the Solaris Vision and I look forward to learning how to utilize IQ Designer and all the functions of my machine.
You’ll love it!
You didn't finish talking about the cloth that you put on top of the embroidery to iron the pucker and stitches
It’s an OESD press cloth. It looks like batting. It works wonders.
This is very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Which foot did you use? Is it the default foot you get with the Triumph or a different foot?
The chain stitch foot. The serger feet are critical in perfecting your serging.
So pretty!
Ty!
That quilt is so cute!
🤗
Now when you do piecing, can you just cut your thread without them coming apart or do you have to put your ending thread through your seam?
Great question! You can run the tail back into the stitching but I assemble the whole quilt and any thread tails remaining I use No Fray or Fray Check.
I had made a few pillow cases and even using the zigzag stitch it still frays a little. Oh how I wish I had a serger, it would had made them look so much better on the inside. I am seriously thinking about getting one, I just need to save some more money. Here years ago I thought the same thing, why in world would I ever want a serger, I don’t make clothes. Well, it’s not only for clothes now days, I see you can do so much more with it!
You got it, Kathleen! I had zero idea how amazing sergers are until I got one. If I only had one machine it would be the Triumph without a question! Save up and you’ll be so glad you got a serger!
Ive been watching a lot of videos on sergers and what they can do. I seriously thinking about getting one. I can picture that chain stitch on a quilted bag.
Oh my, yes! The most fun you could have in your sewing room! You will absolutely fall in love with decorative threads. My favorite is 12wt. If you do get a serger, there really is nothing like a Baby Lock. I wouldn’t say this if I didn’t stand behind them 100%. Try using one at your retailer and see what you think. Threading is so easy and fun. Sounds crazy, but it’s true!
Oh and tell me if you try/get one!
I have a stipple fill that is not in iq, I want to put an embroidery design over that. Is that possible?
Just stitch the stipple and embroider right over it. The stipple isn’t super stitch intensive usually.
Where can I buy this tool
www.embroidershoppe.com
Interesting. Thanks for the demo. I do have a question, though. I have a Solaris. I recently made a quilt with six planes. Had to make them from sewing together strips of fabric. Each plane represents a block, with the rest of the fabric as negative space. I want to add clouds for the quilting but do not want to quilt over the planes. They have their own quilting. I have purchased a cloud pattern, but am not sure I can do with it as you've done here with the Solaris in-machine designs, that is - to have the quilt design recognize the planes and quilt around them. Can this be done, or is this only possible with in-machine designs? Thanks!
Have you imported it into your machine?
@@melindabigleysewblessed Yes, but it only shows when I'm not in IQ Designer. For some reason, the design doesn't show up there, only in regular Embroidery. Also, I tried to scan the block, but it's too big for my scanner.
@@melindabigleysewblessed After playing around with my machine a bit, I honestly don't think the machine can take imported designs from other sources and apply them to the Echo feature. It's not an embroidery design that I'm wanting to 'echo' around, but a quilt block, six of them, besides the rest of the quilt. Echoing seems to be limited to just two designs that are already in the machine from factory. I think I'm left with doing it edge to edge, quilting up to the planes, stopping, then locking the thread, then advancing to the next negative space, and continuing from there. It will mean having to do a lot of stop, lock, and advancing, but this is for my grandson (he's 4), so I'll consider it time well spent. Nevertheless, lesson learned. I will from now on not do such a quilt, just so that I can do an all over quilt design and not have to worry about it.
Wonderful, thank you
😊
Как не экономно вы используете флизелин, ткань и наполнитель. Очень большие куски остаются по бокам … А прихватка хорошая получилась.
Are you wanting to use woven fabric with batting? I’m not sure I understand; i apologize, my Russian isn’t very good yet! Thank you for clarifying for me! I’m very interested in if you’re in Russia? I am hoping to visit soon to improve my fluency. 😊
Thank-you for this video. I always wondered if you should or could use 2 layers of insulbright. And, I loved the idea of using the 2 layers of batting! Thanks, again. I guess I need to make a supply of pot holders!
You’re welcome!
Thank-you for your videos. I especially like them because they are less than 15 minutes. I have a hard time listening to 45 minute videos. Even though your video, at this time, is 3 years ago, it is still very helpful even though I have a Luminaire 3.
You’re welcome!
Your work is beautiful. I own a Meridian and have had difficulty finding any I Q instruction for this machine. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
The videos I do on the Altair are also for the Meridian. I would just search RUclips to see what else is out there.
Thank you Melinda,You did a great job on the name tag, I have to make a few for my sewing club. Now that you showed me how I am on to it before I forget how it is done.
You are so welcome!
Your sound needs to be louder.

I love your videios. I struggle with the built-in designs you are talking about
Ty!
Thank you id like to make for a quilt label idea.
Great idea!
Nice! Thank you!😊
You're welcome 😊
Great idea A stich out booklet! I did it with the sewing stitches but never thought about the fill stitches. Thank you so much
You are so welcome!
I haven’t thought about it but you are right, I’ve never stitched all the fills out. Doing a combination of circles would make great samples when selecting a fill. I plan to try it. Thanks again!
You are so welcome!
Great idea! How could I do this same process but fit in a whole cloth flower?
In IQ?
@@melindabigleysewblessed yes I think it would be IQ
Thank you!! Great tutorials as always!
❤️
So cute! Love the name tag! Thank you for sharing!
Most welcome, friend!
Love it and going to try creating this design! Thanks again
Thank you, Connie! This is a fun one to stitch!
So appreciate you taking your precious time to show us how to really utilize IQ Designer and what is possible, HOWEVER I am so very Sorry that the video starts in focus, then goes and stays out of focus. Hard to watch as it gives me a migraine. Hopefully you can fix this problem very soon.
That’s really odd. I just watched that video and it’s totally in focus. My camera doesn’t zoom so it doesn’t go in or out o focus. Perhaps your computer is malfunctioning?
Seems to go out of focus within the first few min and never adjusts to being in focus
See my response to your other posts
Loved the lesson, but had to stop due to the out of focus was giving me a migraine, Pray you go over this lesson again, in focus, 😒😒😒so I can fully learn the technique.

out of focus
I looked at this video as well. It’s in focus throughout this as well. There are lots of tutorials on RUclips, maybe mine are incompatible with your computer/phone or whatever you use to view.
I have the Meridian updated to the meridian 2. Is there anyway to purchase the scanner for the meridian instead of having to use my phone?
Unfortunately no. That’s not something we can add. I’d add it to my Altair as well if I could.
Awesome, great to see all the different things we can do with IQ
🤗
Thank you! I’d like to figure out how to easily make a sampler of all the fonts too! (In my spare time!)😊
Haha what’s spare time?! 😂
What a great way to stitch and view the different fills Thank you for sharing!
🤗
Will these be available for Altair 2 in the future?
They don’t tell us about what will be available in the future, Sarah. Sorry! Apparently you can convert them in Pallet software. You can ask Baby Lock tech support or your dealer how to do that. I’m not a software guru. 😂
@@melindabigleysewblessed Unfortunately, I am not a computer guru either. I love the designs you showed on Utube.
Melinda, any suggestions how to finish the ends of the thread after serging vinyl?❤️
I use Fray Stop/Check and then trim. 😊
Melinda, that’s super cute!
Thank you, Dotty!
