Welcome back guys! Today we'll address a common issue with the '95 to '98 Nissan 240SX stereo system, where a separate audio amplifier often burns out over time, interrupting the sound circuit. In a previous video, we bypassed these amps since modern stereos can power the speakers directly. However, this made the factory stereo too quiet. To solve this, we're installing a vintage Alpine stereo,...

Definitely felt like unlocking a new notch on our skill tree 😁
Only wasted half a can not bad for the first time keep it going red

Great Video Brotha!!! BOOM BABY!
Thank you 🙌
Can't wait to see Joey co star in all the videos from now on. Y'all working together is a great vibe
Going to start my own youtube channel, First video is going to be Why I -got kicked out of- left Garage 23 🤣
Omg all this content every week is AMAZING!
I'm assuming that you guys removed the front bottom plastic shield before adding the front splitter?. Looks great by the way !
Somebody removed it 🤷🏽♂️😅
I plan to visit one day
They’re super nice and accommodating, as long as you schedule things properly
@@Garage23 NOTED
Where is the OEM part number? Can someone post???
Worked like a charm! This is the second one I’ve had trouble with since new in 2019. I’ll add that I had a nice amount of gunk on the inside metal tabs of the white plunger that I needed to scrap off. This was in addition to cleaning and sanding the other pieces. Also if you haven’t unplugged the grey plug on the negative side of your battery yet, do it and save yourself additional future headaches. Thanks again!!
Oh yeah figured out that plug pretty early on too. We should probably make a video on that as well.
I’m looking for kit suspension buschs for qx80 2019?? Could you tell me where they find please??
So is it worth lifting or just keep it stock, like i dont plan on doing that type of off roading but like the aggressive look.
I think it’s worth it just based on how unique it is, the fact that it turned out to be phenomenal off road was a a big bonus 😅
@@Garage23 would a leveling kit still give me the same issues with the camber
A leveling kit is usually just spacers for the front coils so depending on how big you go it will affect your alignment but an average shop shouldn’t have trouble dealing with it.
ah buying a 30/100K skyline and putting a $100 turbo..why...
Because this one isn’t going to fall apart at 14 psi like the stock one did, also upgrading to a larger more expensive turbo would entail thousands more in fuel system, engine management, and other supporting mods that we just aren’t ready for yet.
@@Garage23 ah thats fair i guess
Did you get any type of error when trying to start? Like did it say you weren’t holding the brake when you actually were? Or no evidence other than the car not starting? I’m having the same issue and have for awhile. I’m on my second battery in three years. The first time the battery seemed to fix the issue for awhile. Now the issue has returned and a new battery didn’t help this time. Just trying to cover bases before I start digging down to the stupid starter.
Occasionally we would get a BCI malfunction error on the dash, the thing is there are two issues at play here, the “smart charging” system and the bad break switch. There is a small plug on the negative battery cable that needs to be removed, this will keep the voltage at 14.5 rather than variable. This along with a new brake switch will solve your starting problems, the downside is 14.5v is technically overcharging and will slowly degrade the battery over time so make sure you buy one with at least a 3 year warranty.
Just an FYI for anyone reading the comments looking for answers my issue ended up being the starter relay located in the engine fuse box. Thank you for the reply! Always good to know extra info on the brake switch and also I had been wondering the pros vs cons of unhooking that battery cable. Great video and thanks for the help.
Thanks for sharing I don’t think that’s a common one on armadas but glad to hear you got it sorted✌️
Those look nice!
And they ride even better 👌
Man, what an absolute Mecca!! I could only imagine touring this place. The rich history of Nissan motorsports, all of the amazing cars. Wow! Awesome video dude
Thank you! It was definitely a bucket list item 🙏
Wow those look really good and solid! How's the dampening adjustment? do you guys notice a difference from full stiff to full soft?
Significant difference! On these full soft is actually soft, close to stock suspension almost which is very nice to have compared to other coilovers where they're just stiff no matter what you set them to.
@@Garage23 Man its great to hear more affordable brands are offering functional features more expensive brands have, and look amazing too
where can i buy the body parts
We got most of our parts from TKGT.com but there are a few websites to choose from. Also your local Nissan dealership should be able to order skyline parts now.
thanks for your support to Maxpeedingrods! we trust Garage23!!
You can't even watch the thing you trying to. It's just ads you can't skip
Just went through this whole video and we only have one ad location specified, unfortunately we have no say in what RUclips plays for you in that segment but we have noticed more un skippable ads across the platform in general.
@Garage23 hey bro do you by any chance have the link for the obd scanner you used in the video the bluetooth one ??
Not specifically but I’m sure I got it from Amazon, pretty much any obd Bluetooth adapter is suitable nowadays
My armada 2017 is doing this , we thought it was something with the car not detecting the key fob since a little red car light appears ,, i just told my husband he needs to check this ..thanks
Those Armadas in general truly pack a punch when it comes to off road. It’s the Nissan Patrol which is Nissan’s competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser. Now sure the American spec Armada has been tuned more for on road comfort over the global Patrol’s off road prowess, but it’s still quite capable and with mods like what you’ve done you’ve got a mighty SUV that goes toe to toe with the Land Cruiser
Absolutely agree, I do appreciate how well it handles on road as it reminds me of my 350Z but let’s face it a 4WD suv needs to do the same in the dirt. We are just happy we finally got it sorted and performing amazing!
Man I lost count of all the wardrobe changes, this was a ton of fun and learned a lot during this experience! Thank you again for all the help with this!
The saga continues, I wonder if a part 3 will be in the works...
Maybe 😶
What about doin the other end
It wasn’t torn 😅 it’s largely the same though, the clip on the shaft just holds the CV rather than roller bearings.
Is that fit for 2010 armada
Is this close to the same suspension as the 21 and newer armadas.
All armadas have the same suspension, 2004-2024 very minor differences
I just had one installed on my Victory motorcycle
What car ur driving
It was a skyline 400R, basically the Infiniti Q50 red sport here in the US
@@Garage23 yo btw I heard that the skyline 400R is kinda rare though 👌
The old 1996 400R is super rare, the modern one not so much
Thanks, your in AZ like me maybe i get a chance to run a Titan Junk run with yah, I have a Titan two like your content :)
Will it fit 04-05 armada?
Yes our control arms fit all Armadas/Q56/QX80 from 2004 to 2024
Quick question. After you were done, did you take the truck in for front end alignment? Or were you able to eyeball it close enough ?
I managed to get it pretty close, it drives straight and the steering wheel is centered but an alignment on a proper rack is always best.
Hey Redd! Great work. Thanks for helping Joie out! Can't wait for the next arc.
We should all lift together o_o
Thank you again for all the help with this!
How could I say no to those calves 😉
@@Garage23😂
Any plans with that extra cd009….???
Gonna try and fix it with a parts trans i have. The one we put in the G35 was supposed to go in my 280Z so hopefully we can fix the broken one.
@Garage23 well I’ll be looking forward to those things.
Bro your determination makes me want to say screw getting an Xterra and get a armada! I want to get into the offroad game and I think this will be a good group to be in! Keep it up brotha! 🙌🏽💪🏽
Not gonna lie it has been a royal pain and a half, but it's finally starting to pay off. 🙏
hey mate great video any further progress these to Australia?
Yes control arms are officially released and available on garage23.net. Although I am not sure if they will fit ausmarket Patrols as the OEM arms look quite a bit different from each other
Nice job bro
I hate how early 2000s is vintage.... and we call it the early 2000s now
🤣
Yea, you are right. Why would anyone lower a truck. Trucks are for working, not looks. Unless you are just too cool. 2 cents, Huh. It's like getting a 4 wherl drive and converting it to a 2 wheel drive. Why waste a 4 wheel drive? Another 2 cents.
Yo Just oberflew your video. Sisnt know if u mentioned it. Can i get away with that turbo without a tune? Or does i 100% need a tune? (CurrentlY running stock tuebi with boost controler on 0.65bar) Working good ao far.
A tune will always be the best route but our car still isn't tuned and it's running just fine at low boost 10psi. It's only upwards of 15 psi that you can start noticing a lack of fuel so a tune will be neccessary as well as upgrading the fuel system.
@@Garage23 ty! I may buy the same turbo just to try. My turbo is now 200kkm in the game i guess its on it last legs.
Did you pick up the glasses at a toy shop just to look clever?
🤣 no those are my actual glasses. But i did decide to wear them because they fit the theme 😅
Great video! Looks like you guys had an awesome time. Your Armada is looking sweet and performing well. I’m slowly building mine and will be looking into your control arms down the road! Keep up the content!
It's been super fun! Thanks for the support🙏
Hey, awesome stuff, man! The control arm is really sweet, I remember watching your old videos about it, I got a 1st Gen Armada 4x4 and I've found that a lot of the suspension components are the same on the 2nd Gen's, the vehicles pretty much look the exact same underneath! You could look into marketing the rear control arms to 1st Gen Armada people too, I'm about 100% sure that those are the same part, you can cross reference the part number and also the aftermarket control arms to check for sure! Looks exactly the same. Also I really like the roof rack and the whole build!
Thanks so much! Yeah we are in fact marketing the arms as applicable to 2004 to 2024 Armada, Q56 and QX80. They are all the same. It's quite the cost cutting on Nissans part 😅
I’m not sure on Dubai cars legislation on cars but I’ve seen uk right hand drive exotic cars on uk plates. Millionaires shipping there cars over. A guy dmo dj vlogs himself living in Dubai with his lambo perf huracan.
From my understanding it's illegal to register a RHD vehicle in Dubai so there are companies that specialize in converting JDM vehicles to LHD. This creates a market for people to import from Dubai rather than Japan if they want a LHD converted import.
sweet!! loving the Armada content. not gonna lie though, I held my breath at 11:31 when that rock hit your step - have you thought about rock sliders?
Definitely looking into making sliders but not sure if we want to market that as we don't have the space to mass produce and stock something of that size. Same with the roof racks.
@@Garage23 makes sense. I ended up getting a cheap roof rack off Amazon and DIYing some mounts. for rock sliders, I am looking at 4xInnovations - supposedly the 95-04 Double Cab Tacoma sliders will fit the Gen 2 Armadas - I don't have access to tubing otherwise I would totally make something custom
so happy to see you haven't completely given up on the gen 2 Armada platform! currently saving up to lift my 2017 and add rock sliders!
I did this conversion over 15 years ago cutting those rear arches didn’t feel right at all but was definitely worth it with the end result. Parts were a lot cheaper back then to I did the oem r34 gtr motor, interior and exterior but kept the rwd and 5 speed transmission. The r34 seats needed a little modification as the floor plan is different dew to the transmission tunnel on the gtr, apart from that most bits are bolt on. Did you get the raised fender supports ?
That's awesome, definitely not a cheap endeavor at the moment. I was able to skip on te fender risers as the Z Tune style fenders have it built in. Which was great because they wouldn't have fit in my luggage at the time 😅
I have a 2020 armada it crank over but no start. Said it was my starter any ideas?
Starting issues on Armadas always come down to either the smart charginf system, or the brake switch. So i would start with cleaning the switch as in this video as it is the cheapest option, or just replacing it all together. Next would be the smart charging system, to disable this you need to unplug the sensor attached to the negative battery terminal. This will keep the system at 14.5 volts instead of variable. There is a chance the battery is bad so have it tested and replace if needed.
