Averaging RSWT’s for Flight Planning
Просмотров 476 месяцев назад
This isn’t an instructional video - more of a look at some problems and potential solution for aggregating sectors in flight planning. I’ve tried this with a handful of examples, and get the exact same result as a multi-sector plan. I’ve never heard of, or seen this method before. I can’t find any reference to it on the internet, it just sort of “came to me” … but to my understanding, it works ...

Subtracting Time for CASA Navigation exam

I struggled with reliably subtracting time accurately when preparing for the CASA CNAV examination. This method, while elementary, may help you more accurately with simple date/time subtraction for arc-to-time BOD/EOD questions.

20 turn fully developed spin in a Robin aircraft
Просмотров 671 тыс.7 лет назад
This is my first ever spin in an aircraft, during emergency manoeuvre training with an aerobatic instructor. I had never seen more than an incipient spin. We entered the spin at around 6700 feet, commenced recovery via the Beggs-Mueller method at around 4500 feet, and levelled out at around 3200 feet.

Navy Memphis flying club 1969, standard non-aerobatic C150s. Spin recovery was demonstrated in one of the early lessons. Not nearly as many turns or as much altitude loss as seen here! If a student (me) did something in later training that approached a spin, the instructor would calmly wait for the student to recover - if at a safe altitude, of course.
The sound of the word "push" is very similar to the word "puxe" which means "pull" in portuguese, think about what could happen if the pilot pulled the rudder instead of pushing
Works in flight sim 👍
That instructor was as calm as if he was in a simulator and not an actual plane...
Will using a 4ah battery make jt slower abd less powerful
No. The “amp-hours” are simply the capacity of the battery. Think of it like the amount of fuel in the tank. A 1ah will perform just as well, but it will go flat quickly. The voltage, on the other hand changes the speed. So even though this bike was designed for 12 volts, giving it 18v makes it 1.5x as fast.
@@coryjeacocke I did the same mod you did, it feels like. It's dying even tho I used a DeWalt 4 ah. Could it be because my bike is a mx 350 and the watt requirement is more than a 125? Thanks
What do you mean “it’s dying”?
holy. that was amazing

How on earth he didnt enter a flat spin?
Hi! I represent a RUclips channel, and my team would like to get permission to use one of your videos. I'll be more than happy if you could contact me.
hey um, why was the mixture pulled during the maneuver?
Amazing 🤩 Didn't experience a spin & recovery before.
Best spin recovery instruction
Quick question, did you use a Makita battery with a star on it? Meaning it has a built in BMS (Battery Monitoring System)? Mine gave out. Suddenly goes full throttle on its own.
Hey man, that’s really weird. It literally doesn’t matter what batteries you use - the voltage is 18v and that’s all the controller sees. Thats really weird!! Don’t stress, it’s easy to replace that motor controller with another (rated) one off eBay. They’re really cheap. They all typically use the same connectors, in my experience. Super weird that yours did that. I had no trouble with mine until the kids outgrew it. I recently dropped an 800w motor in it, with a new 36v controller, and rigged up two 18v batteries. It goes absolutely ham now. Pretty easy upgrade too. Talk more on messenger about that if you want.
@@coryjeacocke yea, I can send a video of the weird experience but I’m charging the battery as of now and trying to troubleshoot in my mind in the mean time while everything charges. Can I message you?

@@coryjeacocke I sent you a pm. Thanks for the help!
You can tell when he says “push push”, his brain is overwhelmed and has gone into autopilot mode 😂
Terrifying... Props to the instructor for keeping cool.
I have just done this with my boys bike. Well i had to as i bought the bike second hand from the pawn shop. When i left the shop the originsl battery died instantly. The shop refused to give me any money of for a new battery. Luckily i found your video and late that night i rigged up the upgrade. My boy was absolutely buzzing. Going to take it on some mini adventures, fishing and camping. Cant wait.
Didn't try this at home.
❤👍😊 All about mastering the aircraft and getting to know it so well that it's almost part of you. Wonderful. Because that makes the difference when it counts.
Why do you put hands on the dash?
So that you don’t make any control inputs
Highly impressive calmness, this is a man you want in a pinch.
Can i do it with 40v or 36v?
I had the honour of being shown some aerobatics in a Robin Alpha by an instructor, a very unassuming man. I asked him where he learnt to do that and he told me he had been a Hurricane pilot during the war. There were still a few about then but now I realise what a great momment. Came and went as they all do.
It only feels like that the first time…
Ah yes, the first experience of a spin. Love the guys expression lol.
The teacher is a certified badass, great job
That last push though...
Can you still charge it through the original charger?
Nah, the original charge port would deliver 12 volts … just unclip the battery and charge with the power tool charger. I’ve since upgraded this again, to a dual-18v, 800 watt motor and 2 battery holders. It’s awesome. I’ll have to make a video on it.
@@coryjeacockethat’s awesome, I kinda figured as much. Just would be nice if you could leave the battery buried in there and not have to take it out.
Kinda defeats the purpose though, because the original idea was to have hot-swappable batteries. It works awesome with a battery connector
Awesome??? 😂
I love how in the background all I hear is "Sunshine coast terminal information D...(then the rest of the ATIS)" What an amazing place to do spin training!
Does the provided adapter charger sufficiently charge an 18v battery?
No charge it with the drill battery
You wpuld lose your license in usa for spinong a general aviation airplane like that on purpose
No you wouldn’t. Our rules are virtually your rules… This is an approved aerobatic aircraft, with a certified aerobatic instructor. It’s not a cowboy spinning a run-of-the-mill GA aircraft.. it’s built for it, and certified.
When I did my FAA instructors license we had to demonstrate spins in a non aerobatic aircraft

As a verified warthunder dumbass, I tried it there and it worked like a charm. Handy little rudder mate
When I was learning to fly I had to do this and I hated it
Too bad Tennessee Fly Girl didn't have this training, might have saved her life
Bad advice buy a 3D printed. Battery holder for the brand Battery you are using and a lithium battery protector.
If you wait 20 spin turns before recovering you are doing it wrong
He didn’t look like he was doing anything wrong to me.
Pretty sure it's just to show that you have plenty of time to recover, dont be a dork.
this has become a family classic
pass the sick bag
That was too awesome
Feels like New Zealand to me
reminds me of my driver's ed experience... except it was the instructor that said, "fuckin' hell..... fuck me."
Fantastic video! Would it be okay for you if I feature this in a future RUclips video of mine? I would of course credit you in the video and description. Thank you and have a great day!
Can you show how to solder the lead wires to the lithium battery connector ?
Which pedal right or left did the pilot press all the way down?
I can feel it in his voice. He is a great instructor
So Aussie. Farrrrrk me.
What if the instructor turns to you and says "I loved her bro"
Thats cool and all.. i'de prefer to do that in a sim, BUT! real life means true memory response. YOU'L never forget what to do! in that given situation.. That said. i wouldn't want to be in the aircraft that constantly goes thru that ordeal. God knows what type of wear and tear the plane is undertaking when that's done.
It’s an aerobatic aircraft, it’s built to handle a lot more than this.
@@coryjeacocke i didnt catch that at first. but noticed it after. yeah.. a breeze for such an aircraft, i see guys doing this with cessna's 152's im like... mmmm nah.
