    In Moscow, Russia, these days 1 kWh costs around 6.5 rubles, which is about $0.07... So, back to your numbers: 265 Wh/mile is around 25.8 kWh per 100 miles. That equals 25.8 * 0.07 = $1.8 per 100 miles )))) And there's also a night rate in some areas, which is half the price. That's how it is...

    Here in Canada anyway, the cost for insurance for Tesla really outweighs any sort of cost savings that you would get over driving a car like a Toyota Prius or a Corolla. Now if you're the type of person that you want to be driving an Audi or a BMW where your insurance is going to be classed as a luxury brand then yeah this is pretty much apples to apples but that type of consumer who is looking to save money generally is not driving an Audi or a BMW. The new Toyota Prius that gets 70 km of range plus is a really good trade-off even with a commute of 80 km a day. You're paying about 30% Less on insurance or more and your benefiting from EV driving with an amazing 10 year 240,000 km warranty for the battery.

    What about the battery wouldn't the batt degrade based on the number of times the car is charged and wear and tear cost . if the car is new 1st year the car will be fine the problem will pop up by closer to 2nd year. considering if the car is driven daily for 12 hrs (uber limit) with daily charging. and depreciating value if you are planning to upgrade.Any thoughts or experiences.

    This video failed to explain that car payment is for 60-70 months and as a full time Uber/Lyft driver your going to put at least 8k-9k miles on the Tesla every month. This video also fails to explain the Tesla will be out of warranty within the first 12 months of ownership with a full time Uber/Lyft driver. The best and ONLY car a full time Uber/Lyft driver should purchase new is a Prius or Camry. The Honda Accord is a good car as well and would round it my top 3 cars for Uber driving full time. NEVER purchase the Tesla used or new it's DEFINITELY not a car that's practical for Uber/Lyft driving full time. I also have to MENTION with the Tesla you'll be watching your life disappear having to fast charge at least 2-3 times a day or every 3-4 hours. This will definitely turn your 8 hour shift into a 10 hour shift every time and there's no way around it. I'm a full time Uber driver in Orlando, Florida and I've rented the Tesla for 4 months straight. I was making $2,100-$2,500 per week driving my personal gas car driving the full 12 hours per daily shift that Uber allows. I'm the Tesla in making $1,700-$1,850 per week and this is due to the constant 45 minutes per charge and charging at least 2-3 times per 12 hour shift. Whoever believes Tesla is the car to use for ride sharing is an idiot 😔

    • @KirbyZhang
      @KirbyZhang 4 месяца назад

      sounds like in your market you drive a lot of miles. Teslas are not efficient driving long range. They're good for city driving (but there they have the wrong suspension). I only put on 2k miles/month driving 40 hours/week. I charge once every two days, either while waiting in queue at airport, or overnight at the city public works. My main complaint is the stiffness of the suspension, which I will be swapping for something softer.

    In my area, a Tesla from Hertz for uber costs $280 after 7 weeks of renting one + $210 monthly incentive for renting an EV. You have to take into account depreciation when comparing renting vs buying one, and rideshare and personal insurance, and repairs and maintenance and $250 per tire, etc. In the end, it comes out to about the same as owning one if the weekly rate is under $300, but only if you do it full time. If you do it here and there, renting is not worth it.

    How do you use the Uber rental through Hertz with Lyft as well? Yeah and how much do you pay for insurance on your car and if you buy a new car and use it for Uber, which very few people recommend, your personal car goes through lots of wear and tear on your car and putting 60k miles on your own Uber car a year for 2 years your at 100k miles easily and you have to buy a new battery and with 100k on the Tesla good luck finding somebody to buy it batteries only last about that long…

    Hmm...Monthly payment + increased insurance costs + Maintenance items (especially tires) + Charging + depreciation + lack of vehicle if in accident VS. weekly cost + charging. It's not yours so if it breaks, not your problem in the long run, just long enough to trade it in and get another. Nor worrying about the depreciation of it after you have put a million miles on it. If you're in an accident, you're going to lose some money either way in deductible. Seems better off to rent IMO, at least when it comes to long-term use. Maybe not in the short-term, but I'm talking a year-by-year use breakdown.

    in my scenario I am in a pinch and do need a car. This has been great and zero issues hitting the 435 + 30 trips mark. Normally I do IT and Uber part time. I lost my job about a year ago and struggling to get back to work. Once I am back to work and comfortable with my new role, I will be purchasing a Model Y. I personally prefer the SUV model and sadly Hertz for our location doesn't have the Model Y's anymore. I must say in my own personal experience so far the 2 ladies there have been nothing but nice to me. Helping as much as possible due to the fact that I live in the Springs and rather not drive to Denver for every check in. However, I have heard all the stories at that location and thankfully none have come true for me at least.

  • @PeterTeehan
    @PeterTeehan 7 месяцев назад

    Hey Ben amazing video I too live in Colorado however just a little south of you in Colorado Springs. I also rent a Tesla through the Hertz Rental program. I have a Tesla Model 3 long range AWD Dual motor. When I got the car my milage was at 66k. Ive been in one now little over a week and delt with a snowstorm. The Model 3 performed like a champ, even coming down some steep grades in some of our neighborhoods. The passengers were blown away how it handled in the snow. Springs has a solid supercharging network as well. Now that I've been in one for a while - watched a ton of videos to educate myself, i have the confidence in driving this EV in any weather conditions and not feel like I have to stay home and miss the fun. Of course, when it does come to weather I tell any driver to drive with what you feel comfortable in driving. I was part of the Lyft Hertz rental program here in the springs and it was an utter disaster. So much I deactivated myself from Lyft all together. Keep up the good work my man. People need to be informed so they can make an educated decision about rideshare.

    I'm an uber driver, renting from Hertz and driving around bay area. Here is my tough regarding: I rented a Polestar 2, less expensive than a Tesla and same wow factor. No, does not have autopilot but I don't think will add something to the tip department. The week cost me $414, around day and half of work and the 30 trip is relative here. Some weeks I drive less and Hertz never, ever complaint me. I would never, ever suggest buy a new Tesla unless you want to be chained to Uber for years and years. For me Uber is a temporary solution after been laid off past year. I think the biggest con when you rented from Hertz is you cannot work uber/lyft, you can just work for one or the other but not at the same time. The unlimited personal miles help me a lot. And today, January '24 if you feel compelled to get a personal car to put on the sharing platform, I strongly recommend the Prius hybrid, no electrical car. Less expensive and even better on mostly rideshare situations. Another thing. If you get a car, you pay for the insurance and maintenance and it's more expensive than the Hertz insurance when you report car will be working for uber... plus maintenance. Besides, I don't know any tesla driver without any problem after do uber for 2 years. Cars look beat up and mostly development quality problems and at last, with a rental car, I can use as many miles as I want it but with my personal car, every miles count, and you need to pay attention to street conditions more than a rental car. Everyone have a different situation but for me, until today, the rental car is good.
