You can pick an l405 up a cheap one for just over 10k now 20k for a decent one. A year ago a cheap one was 20k plus.

Those aren't really big bills. I had bills on my Discovery 3 that ran into the thousands, remanufactured automatic transmission was £2,500, that is a big bill.

We bought an 08 plate r56 back in 2017 as 'the wife's' car. On paper it's needed a lot of work (turbo oil feed pipe, high pressure fuel pump, thermostat, gasket seals). But love the thing to bits and every time we've thought about selling it I can't bring myself to do it, such a joy to drive! The engine sounds clattery, they all do. The 'death rattle' is heard when you rev to about 2000rpm, it's unmistakable, literally sounds like the chain scraping. Fingers crossed you never hear it! Have fun with yours, hope it serves you well.

Happy fpr the first time a new Owner of a LR RR is satisfied with their purchase in 20 years. Was looking for a RR 22 years but got cold feet and rather purchased an Isuzu Trooper 3.1 TD NEVER EVER BROKEN BROKEN DOWN for the past 22. Maybe might try this L 405 4.4 Diesel

Hi Jon, hope you are well. I’ve owned my 2015 SDV8 Autobiography for a short time and unfortunately had to replace the oil cooler 🤦🏻‍♂️ (common fault on the v8) I’m now getting a hot burning plastic/rubber smell on some shorter journeys… any ideas? I’ve had it back to the garage but they can’t detect anything, nothing on computer etc but worried something might fail on me costing money. I’m fully prepared to spend money and change stuff to prevent failed as it’s the nature of the beast in the LRs I just don’t want anything catastrophic hopefully🤞

I look at such old cars in the same way as I do steam locomotives. It’s a rich enthusiasts hobby to own a 4.4l V8 and a dream come true for oil companies to still be able to make people buy anything with an engine, be it a PHEV with an engine or this steroidal nonsense.
