Thanks for the ideas. I like Custard Nakamura. Its a good Japanese bakery thats always putting out fresh stuff. I usually follow the baker lady around and pick up whatever she puts down, grab a coffee from 7eleven and make a picnic at the park nearby.

Misunderstanding 1.New laws was introduced.:not Thais 51% and foreigners 49% any more. Now Foreigners can even buy a whole condo if they want to. 2. Thais not buy condo cheaper than foreigners because they are Thais. You can buy the same price if you buy when the condo finished constuction and open to sell. If you buy later ofcause the owner of the unit has to sell at a higher price to make profit. They are plenty of condo units available in the market you can choose at many prices depend on condition of the units and location that you can negotiate. You also can sell your condo unit to Thais or foreigners it they agreed with the price you demand. Buying or selling is up to the market not because you are Thais or foreigners. Prices of Condo in Bangkok are up every year. I do not see any risk if you buy condo in Bangkok. After 5-6 years you can surely make profit if you want to sell.

I'm sure that the biggest reason for the crap you seen and experienced in the USA is that all the places you mentioned are states controlled by the woke communist democrats. Nonetheless, the USA is turning to shit for sure.

I have a friend who sold his home in Michigan and moved to Chiang Mai full time. He's a retired attorney, so he is in good shape financially. He just turned 75 and found that his medical insurance will increase to $11.000 annually. It's not a problem for him but came as a shock. Plus, he still maintains his Medicare monthly charge just in case he needs to return to the USA. Something to keep in mind.

Vietnam was my first choice, but the idea of having to do a visa run every 90 days was not appealing to me. Conversely, I plan on traveling, so leaving the country every 179 days for Thailand is okay with me.

Just found your page today and really appreciate your insights. I am currently in the research phase of my move. I wholeheartedly agree that you must move to Thailand (or anywhere) with a plan and budget in mind. I own my own business in the States and can work remotely. However, I still will make sure my emergency fund, health insurance, secondary income, etc. are all in place before I go running off with a half cocked plan

The Hilton seemed like good value. B31,166 seems a little excessive for a meal. I was looking at staying at the Dusit Thani for one night, in Silom but it was ridiculously expensive. I love good food but there is a limit.

I'm flying back to Thailand today Had to tidy a few things up in Australia Budgeting for a long term stay is number 1, I'm only 57,so no pension for me, multiple passive incomes is the way to go, mixture of rental money, stocks etc , if one falls over you have a back up My budget will be high for a few years as I have 2 kids doing international schooling, and we have to have a house for our animals as well.once the kids finish school our budget will half, so happy days!! Same life in Oz would be at least 50% more expensive

The next time you are in Bangkok try the French restaurant in the Royal Thai Athenee. About a third less price but wonderful wine pairing. Oh I forgot to say Happy Birthday to the Birthday Girl. :)

That second restaurant looks like it was inside the Lebua hotel. I've stayed there a number of times.

Here in the USA. I occasionally go out to a nice steakhouse usually about 600 dollars with tip for 3. But I’m getting 20oz steak etc. more food than these type of dinners. I can rationalize that occasionally. If you can afford it. Worth a try. Hope you enjoyed
