going off the device theory by mollystars i think its likely gaster is manipulating papyrus by telling him about dark worlds so he can play the role as the knight, the antagonist for the player to fight to become more immersed in the world of deltarune for his experiment. that or it could possibly be ralsei given he wants the player to be entertained and have a good experience whilst sticking to the script he was given.

Add-on for the determination theory: it’s possible that it just hasn’t been enough time for him to melt. Remember that the almaglmates took multiple injections and a while to actually start melting, and they were also in a weakened state before so, having fallen down. This comes with its own problems, namely it doesn’t explain Undine the Undying melting and not blending (though maybe there IS a difference in lab DT and natural DT, and we never get to see if Sans melts or not before dusting), but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Another thing to point out is that a gaster follower says he holds a piece of him. That could be his face found in his corpse (he fell into the core). Mystery man looks dead because he probably is the ghost of Gaster and the face was his original body. The colors dont matter because ghosts are white anyway

I think skeletons are their own thing, closely related to both humans AND monsters, since they're between humans and monsters, some will have blood and some won't, just genetics. That could also explain how sans can survive after being killed long enough to walk off screen and how papyruses head survives for a moment, they just have more physical determination than most monsters

theory: what if redacted is an amalgamate combined with a gaster shard? my theory is that the gaster folowers tried to revive gaster by throwing a gaster shard into an amalgamate because they knew amalgamates are an *_amalgamation_* of various monsters but by doing that, napstablook's parent then got [redacted] out of existance, that would explain all the conections to napstablook, W.D. gaster and the amalgamates on [redacted]

The only thing that makes me disagree with this theory is the fact that the King in chapter 1 talks about meeting the knight. We know that the knight is at least 1 entity. To narrow it down even more, Roulx Kard and Queen both give a similar description of the knight, (btw, there isn't a lot of description of the knight) which lets us infer it is in fact only 1 person.

They are some point that i want to justifie on the determination theory on my pov. I think sans didn't survived the attack because he didn't have enough determination. But because the determination is at a different place. Hear me out, Frisk as is WHOLE SOUL fill with determination and, just like undertale like to put it, the soul is the most important part of a living being. So Frisk is able to live because of that. So i think that Sans just have determination in is body AND in a moderate dose. He couldn't put determination in his soul because of the research of Alphys. So yes, is attack were on steroïde, but is soul was still one of a monster. So he died

Sans could possibly be a darkner because he can bleed and teleport himself and other people (as seen when he brings frisk through "shortcuts") just like how lancer teleports him and susie (as seen in the bake sale and the maze)

How about this, we know asgore is gonna play a role in deltarune, so what if chapter 5 will take place in asgore's flower shop? There was a double door room that we havent been able to see just like the church so i think its more likely than a whole chapter centered around hometown also, you brought up the teasers from the status update, those were for chapter 4 meaning that chapter 3 took place at night, while were gonna wake up in chapter 4 and theres no school so it would be perfect if at the time we were supposed to be at school we and susie were just exploring hometown and maybe seeing susie's home if she even had one? One thing i wanted to bring up about the asgore flower shop dark world is that it might very well be a video game dark world or something completely new,we had no idea that the unused classroom dark world will be a board games one so im expecting anything at this point and since chapter 3 and 4 dark worlds were kinda teased to us in the game, the tv world literally being opened at the end of chapter 3 and the mention of the church multiple times as well as the holiday family playing a part maybe even rudy's death? Could this be the reason toby took out chapter 5 from the rest because it was too ambiguous? Idk but thats what i wanted to say! Such a small theory 🫠

Maybe combine theories? Maybe sans is a time traveler… but like…. From the surface/deltarune? So… so maybe he IS a monster with determination and in the future or past he came from they figure out how to inject the determination? And in his fight he was maybe determined to stall, distract, guilt trip- anything he could do to stop us. Maybe the color of determination changes the longer it lingers in the monster/body? Hear me out, Noelle's Dad will be a Knight in the future. Kris didn't open the door to trick Undyne into the Dark World he opened the door to spill the Dark World into the town. If I'm correct then Noelle's Dad will have vitality in this opposite land, and maybe before he dies cause obviously this is being set up for a future event maybe he will remember his time with his daughter in the dark world and he will open it to get one more day with her. Also how else can he take Ralsei to the town carnival? OBVIOUSLY he opened the door so he could have the power of fluffy boys again.

It would be really cool if theres actually a Music Darkworld, and in this world, theres multiple groups, each one representing a song type (like, Metal being some Susie-like monsters), and theres a war between this groups, the Secret Boss could be inspired forgotten music style. And theres like, battles that uses their battle music as a mechanic

Yes, Gaster wants us to be interested, so knowing that player will go into game files he decided to make a little "mystery" with a random known to us character, and to be 100% sure player will be interested, Gaster choose a side character, who is so far from us, but in the same time very close (as Noelle's sister). Gaster even says "Bro, find her, find her! Be interested! Be prepared!" In the name of her soundtrack.
