Actually Gaster is not responsible for the player controlling Kris, in the goner maker he is speaking for most of it but he gets cut off and a different person says all that stuff about your choices not mattering. You can tell because the text id (or whatever that's called) is 666 when gaster is speaking but is something else (I don't remember) when the other person is speaking.

I can see most of this panning out other than Gaster killing Kris to make a vessel for us: To me the Gonermaker is blatant evidence that Kris wasn't Gaster's intended vessel and it's the owner of the interrupting voice at the end of the sequence that put us in Kris. If we'd forgone the Gonermaker and simply started waking up as Kris we'd've less reason to question Gaster and been more compliant; additionally the fondness Gaster shows for our MC is equal to Noelle & Susie in the name select, why would he murder someone he thought was wonderful?

Oh and how did Kris die? The cryptid Ice-E they accidentally made into existence by telling their scary stories froze them to death. And that’s why DarkWorld!Kris is blue, and fits into the heavy snow theme.

Well in Undertale Frisk died in the fall for the Chara remnant soul buried in the flowers to enter, and depending on your actions, either Chara just absorbs it or essentially gives Frisk a second chance by /their/ soul being absorbed. We don’t know if Kris has the same dead eyes as Frisk, but seems to have the same flat expression. This doesn’t mean everything has to be the same but especially if Undertale exists ‘in-universe’, that might mean there’s at least something in the fact that this is how presumably Asriel as game maker wants to show the idea to us - beginning with a death. I agree with the Gaster theory. Why Kris of all people? I think Kris’s creativity in particular seemed to create worlds for his friends (perhaps gotten paradoxically via imagining he had the powers we see Asriel as having in Undertale) - why the Kris we see is crushing their creativity away in their piano, room etc. - and all that went wrong when probably Ice-E became real and emerged from The Spooky Bunker and actively ruined people’s real lives. (Hence the titans that emerge if the fountains of ideas get too crazy looking like parents). And the idea that Kris died at the hands of his own creation would fit with what appears to be Toby’s theme for the game: The benefits but also perils of falling too deep into your own imaginary creations. And [cough] insert my crazy fringe theory that Gaster was a videogame character from that game Dess and the others used to play that they fanficced to life, fell in love with her, and thus got a manifested creature to kidnap Dess and via Kris’s story logic bring her closer to him, (and that’s why the original Gaster devices seem to be about gaining more life than life and possibly going outside of one’s own realm), but Gaster knows he needs to harness the power of unbridled creativity to truly manifest a world where they can be together even if it will destroy everyone’s lives [gasps for air]. Or, you know, something normal.

Turning around the thinking that Asriel might be dead and is instead kris that is dead. Would explain the blue skin in the dark world, and would actually make Kris a monster now

i was thinking maybe they're trying to say that the player is the one possessing Kris, hence why when Kris has goosebumps and Suzie asks if he's okay and he says yes, it was the player's choice to say yes

I... Hope you realize that Chara is present in both Routes, and in Genocide they aren't the one responsible for the whole thing. You are, and not a lot of people can own up to that. They destroyed that world because that's what YOU caused, and erasing it would make sure this world isn't disturbed ever again by the likes of you, and moving onto another world to start anew. In pacifist, you can't save Monsters without showing Asriel a memory YOU nor Frisk Possess, instead it's a Memory Chara possesses.

Very cool theory, and very well made, but I don't buy it... And I hate that people can't just interpret the Zombie Susie line as, simply, Kris is very absent minded during class, is tired so moves stiffly, and such!

We "know" that the last lines in the vessel creation are not from gaster, he wanted us to make a vessel for our soul but another being made us posess kris instead

I don't think that Gaster wanted you to control Kris, since he was helping you making a vessel, and the person that tells the text with a different font that says that you don't choose xho you are seems to be a different one (apperently, in japanese, the way this text is written is like chara's)

I cant imagine Kris´s emotional turmoil as he sees and feels everything the player does and is unable to do anything about it, im excited to learn his motivations to the stuff he does without the player.

One interesting idea I’ve never heard anyone bring up before about “Determination” is that it’s not actually a double entendre, but rather a QUADRUPLE entendre. Of course it refers to the ability to de-terminate yourself, and the concept of being determined to complete a task, but there’s the third option which is to determine one’s own future, with the fourth which I believe to be VERY important to the core message present in Deltarune; Determinism. Determinism is a philosophical doctrine that suggests that human free will does not exist, and instead that all actions performed by people are caused by forces external to the will of those people. This also means Determination simultaneously refers to free will, and a lack of free will, but what’s important is WHO gets the free will in this situation. Sounds a lot like the concept of characters in a video game being controlled by the player, huh? That’s the point. In this world, nobody can choose who they are, and as we can see that Kris has a save file which has been reset (a file with a name but no time on it occurs when you have previously played the game but reset the file afterwards), it’s quite likely that their world has experienced it’s destruction many times over, and they are unable to save it. At least, not without the power of a being who is not bound by the rules of their world; the player. After all, that’s the distinction between a movie and a video game; it’s interactive media. Without the player, Mario never saved the princess. Without the player, Sonic never defeats Dr. Eggman. Without the player, the world is covered in darkness, and that’s exactly what we see happen if we quit Deltarune after dying instead of loading from the last save. In fact, consider for a moment that the words “Delta Rune” can literally mean “change what is set in stone” by translating each part individually, and that Gaster says he looks forward to creating a new future with us before he shouts “SHOW YOURSELF! DELTA RUNE” and then we are connected to their world. In fact, this entire rabbit hole of determinism goes WAY deeper. Consider in the legend how it divides the screen into two parts down the middle near the start, “IT IS A LEGEND OF HOPE; IT IS A LEGEND OF DREAMS” and “IT IS A LEGEND OF LIGHT; IT IS A LEGEND OF DARK”. Light and hope are associated, and dark and dreams are associated. But, light’s connection to hope doesn’t end there. The same legend mentions that the heroes appear, “SHINING WITH HOPE”, the first save point is described as “the light only you can see”, there’s a power inside of you (the soul) that’s capable of sealing dark fountains, and “there’s a light inside your soul that’s still shining in the cold”. Dark and dreams, too, have plenty of parallels. Dark worlds are basically dream world, and “when the light is running low… and the places that you know seem like fantasy”, and even the connection to characters like Spamton mentioning still feeling so dark despite his new body, as a symbolism for still not being in control of his own fate, further connecting the idea of dreams and darkness to having a lack of control. In fact, if darkness is to not being in control of your fate, and light is its opposite, then light must symbolize control over your own destiny. Light is to DELTA, or change, as Dark is to RUNE, or set in stone, and the more light you have relative to your surroundings, the more control you have. This is why nobody can choose who they are in this world, and why Gaster connected us to it. In the light world, everyone has the same amount of light. They are all bound by the laws of determinism to follow their programming directly… but in dark worlds, they CAN choose, because they have more light than the dark worlds. But, no matter what they do they may be bound by that determinism to follow the story to their own demise, and this is where the light of the player is required. They are needed to make the important decisions that will save the world. The decisions that nobody else is capable of making because it’s not their fate. Despite Determination allowing the ability to determine the future, it also revokes the ability of others to make their own choices. Having determination is to suppress the free will of others, making it two sides of the same coin. So if somebody comes along with more determination than anyone else and opens a dark fountain that destroys the world, like the Angel’s Heaven…? Well there’s nothing that can be done without somebody with even more determination; us.

so you are always guessing who is possessing frisk, and how chara was revived so i wanna say what i think about it so starting in beguining of the game you are led to believe that the peson you had choose the name (chara) is the person that you are controling, it show on the save file to. but in the end of the game is revealed that person name is frisk not chara, and that is what most people believe. in gen chara says the you revive her with you dt , you reincarnated chara. what i believe is that the player and chara is the same thing, flowey say it in your face the dialogue after the endong of pacifist , saying that the only perso that can make all come back to the beguining is you , chara. so who is frisk? simple so you are chara and with your dt you reincarnated her , you play with chara reincarnation the whole game and depending the the actions you do the end results are diferent, in pacifist , after asriel realizes that chara is gone and that he must move on , the reincarnation of chara becames frisk, some one new made of your action, but in gen your just make be her sell again but in excessive, corrupt , distance from theirself because of lv, because the search of power to protect that became the search for the absolute power i have so must theories so let me knoe if you like this one and what more

I don't think Kris shuffles around like that because they are already dead and are dependent on the soul to live. I'm pretty sure that when they take the soul out of their body, their walking looks super labored and arduous because well... l'm sure they can't exactly survive without their soul inside them for very long. I also think that the red soul is in fact theirs, but the player just controls it.
