Meet the B One, Peplink's Most Affordable Multi-WAN Router Yet
Thanks Eric for another great video. Question: Rather than running the DC power directly from the battery can I use the DC side of my fuse box instead?
As long as your fuse box is connected to an appropriate DC power source to power the Starlink Gen 3 and have the correct fuse, then that will work just fine! Here's a link to our Starlink Gen 3 DC Conversion Article if you'd like to look over the installation: support.mobilemusthave.com/en/support/solutions/articles/67000740072-starlink-standard-gen-3-dc-conversion-guide If you have any questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
im trying to find on your videos running g the wire from top of roof into the truck cab. I hear going through the back window is ideal but im not quite seeing it play out in my mind. thank you for any help
Thanks for reaching out! For sure, we can definitely help out! If you can reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com with some information about your truck and the exact setup you're looking to run, we'll be more than happy to help you figure out a routing path for the Starlink cable!
Is this the solution to livestream in top quality? like LiveU? (i know its not an encoder). Is there a subsription to use the bonding feature? thanks!!!
Yes, Peplink routers are an excellent choice for livestreaming! Their powerful bonding service, SpeedFusion, ensures a seamless and reliable connection. SpeedFusion is available via subscription, but the great news is that your first year is included with every new Peplink router purchase! This gives you a full year to explore its capabilities and decide if you'd like to continue after the initial period. If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
I've been watching the Peplink forums and man...8.5.0 and 8.5.1 is driving people crazy. What are you all seeing for reliability of this generation of firmware? I am waiting on upgrading 3 devices until the dust settles.
What's the difference getting a data plan like this versus just going to Verizon and T mobile and getting data plans direct from them?
Opting for a hotspot SIM card directly from Verizon or T-Mobile would provide the service you need. However, we've found that their data plans often come with lower data capacities and are subject to throttling. As an alternative, we offer our own multicarrier data plan, RoamLink, which provides access to Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and US Cellular towers. With RoamLink, you can achieve the full cellular strength available in your area without being throttled by the carriers. For more information about RoamLink, visit out site here: mobilemusthave.com/pages/roamlink If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Will it work with the Starlink Flat High Performance with Wedge Mount on my RV?
Yes, it will! The Peplink B One 5G is fully compatible with all Starlink kits and can easily connect via the B One 5G's WAN port. You also have the option to connect the Starlink dish wirelessly using the Wi-Fi-as-WAN feature, though a hardwired connection through the WAN port typically offers better performance. Advanced functionality like forward error correction and tcp ramp will allow starlink to perform better than with the Starlink router also. If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!

This hardware device supports Internet access in most countries and regions, such as Brazil, China, and some African regions with networks. Whether it can provide local Internet services using local compatible SIM card signals and whether this device does not have any wifi antenna hardware to provide wifi services to ensure its device reliability
Thank you for reaching out! The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini 5G is compatible with cellular bands in many countries worldwide. However, it’s essential to verify the cellular bands available in the country where you’ll be using it and compare them with the BR1 Mini 5G’s specifications to ensure compatibility. You can review the spec sheet here: Peplink MAX BR1 Mini 5G Datasheet. You are correct that the BR1 Mini 5G doesn’t produce its own Wi-Fi signal, as it’s designed to serve as an additional 5G modem within an existing Peplink setup or to be added to a non-Peplink router. To broadcast a Wi-Fi signal, you would need to connect it to a secondary router capable of providing Wi-Fi coverage. If you have any other questions, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Cool that you are doing this. For mobile applications why not do better than 26AWG though? Glad it’s shielded for sure by the way.
This is great! I have been waiting for a solid dc conversion for our full time rig!
Thanks, note this is for the fixed mount dish, the Gen 3 (v4) standard dish and mini dish also have kits on our channel, the video for the Gen 3 is not public yet but here is a sneak peak link :) ruclips.net/video/vT4SsC8OUEg/видео.html
Looks awesome,, do you ship to the uk ?
Unfortunately, we don't currently offer shipping to the UK. However, we have had customers have success with using package forwarding and reship services to help get our products out of the United States. If you have any other questions or would like some assistance with the package forwarding service, send us an email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
You can use Starlink internet with cellular data on your I device on zoom so if one cuts out the other will pick up the slack. That’s my real world 🌍 experience anyway.
What temps can this handle? How about weather rating? Would like to mount this under my hood instead of inside my truck.
The Starlink Mini PoE DC Power Conversion Kit has a strong heat sink built-in, so it has a great heat rating! However, it is not weather resistant, so it will need to be safely installed in a weatherproof location. If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Do these Peplink routers work well with just the indoor antennae?
Peplink routers perform well with the included paddle antennas in urban areas. However, we recommend adding an external antenna if you’ll be traveling in remote locations or if your rig has a metal shell, such as an Airstream or Sprinter Van, due to the Faraday cage effect. For reference, the paddle antennas provide a signal strength of up to 2-3 dBi, while external antennas compatible with the B One 5G can achieve up to 7-8 dBi. This represents more than a 100% increase in signal strength, offering significant benefits when using an external antenna. If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Clear as mud!
This is a great idea. Would like to see a video where this is used to replace the Wingard antenna installed on most RVs.
Do not like the Starlink pole mount, wish there was a better solution.
Do you mean the ladder mount solution shown here? If you're looking for a pole mount option that is strictly for poles and made of metal with the same high quality those are coming in the next couple weeks. stay tuned!
Is there a link for the roof rack mount?
Absolutely! Here are links to the ladder/roof rack mounts for both the Starlink Mini and Gen 3: Starlink Mini: mobilemusthave.com/products/starlink-mini-ladder-rail-mount?_pos=2&_sid=839ea78d5&_ss=r Starlink Gen 3:mobilemusthave.com/products/starlink-gen-3-ladder-rail-mount?_pos=1&_sid=839ea78d5&_ss=r If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
The reason is simple, if your selling millions all over the work, keep the power separate since since most don’t have a POE source. The difference between a billionaire and a RUclipsr.
That not what we said in the video. The separate DC input is great and needed in our optinion since the unit has an intergrated router. That said, since the unit already runs on 48v having the ethernet have the ability to offer POE power to the dish would allow for a much larger variety of deployments without the need for kits like this. We suspect we will see this added in future generations since its the number one gribe most testers have had with the product thus far. Thanks for the comments and for watching!
Do s this work for Starlink gen 3
Yes, it does! We actually sell a pole mount for the Starlink Gen 3 that will attach to our 20' Telescoping Pole! Here's a link to the Gen 3 Starlink TRIO Pole Mount: mobilemusthave.com/products/gen-3-starlink-trio-pole-mount?_pos=1&_psq=gen+3+pole&_ss=e&_v=1.0 If you have any other questions, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
How do I do POE with the 4-pin connector on my Peplink MAX BR1 Pro?
So, the BR1 Pro 5G does not support PoE input, unfortunately. To power via PoE, you would need a PoE Splitter, then possibly an adapter to get the power side over to a 4-pin molex. A common cable used in this situation is our Peplink Power Conversion Cable: mobilemusthave.com/products/peplink-power-conversion-kit?_pos=2&_psq=peplink+power&_ss=e&_v=1.0 If you'd like some assistance with setting up the PoE, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
If your poe is creating lots of heat it's not efficient.
anything stepping up voltage from 12v to 48v and doing so with up to 200w will create heat. That said, the mini only pulls about 30w so you barely notice any heat at all because of the overbuilt nature of this unit and you can then swap out your dish for a full size starlink using the same kit and wiring for future proofing.
Well spoken esoterically but for the uninitiated and those newly interested in Starlink somewhat confusing and off putting !
All depends on what your goals are and what you are looking for. Starlink did not make this easy as they are still learning what their customers are looking for and testing the market themselves.
Are those magnets on the white box? I assume that is a mount, if so it doesn't look like it will mount flush on the roof of an RV unless you drill a hole in the roof. So this lets you use an inside router for better performance?
@@JimEdds yes, our Trio SpeedMount for the Mini has a magnet or suction mount option and doubles a a great protective case for the Starlink Mini mobilemusthave.com/products/trio-speedmount-for-starlink-mini
Why not buy the Starlink USB C cable for $39?
we sell those as well but for $29 and in stock mobilemusthave.com/products/starlink-mini-10-meter-water-resistant-usb-c-power-cable-for-battery-or-portable-operation - That said you will not be able to use ethernet to uplink the device to a Peplink router to do WAN bonding and other advanced features. This is more designed for a fixed mount installation. For portable use check out our 3 in 1 portable cable which is the best for portable use allowing battery use, USB-C use, stock charger use, cig lighter use and more found here!mobilemusthave.com/products/starlink-mini-3-in-1-water-resistant-power-cable-for-ultimate-portability-10-meter?_pos=1&_sid=c9f466ef6&_ss=r
Because peplink is a Chinese router, you are recommending your customers create backdoor vulnerabilities in their networks - why would you do that?
Peplink is not a Chinese router, they are manufactured in Taiwan just like Cisco and most other routers allowed for the USA market for higher security applications. They are FIPS compliant, a requirement for them to be used by the US government, a standard developed here in the USA by NIST. The company is a Hong Kong company with their CEO living in Japan, US operations are a blend of Toronto Canada and Minnesota and we communicate closely with Peplink on security related concerns for our clients. None of their core stack is made or vulnerable to Chinese influence, a big reason why the US is so keen to keep Taiwan friendly with the west, to protect all tech companies not just Peplink. Fips compiance information: www.peplink.com/support/compliance/
$315 though ouch
We have other mounting options now available if this one doesn't float your boat.
game changer. thank you !
in video you say "POE injector" input comes from Starlink device WAN. Did you mean to say Peplink WAN? Input from Peplink then output to Starlink dish.
So, the Starlink Dish is connected to the PoE port on the PoE injector via a standard cat 6 ethernet cable which connects to the Starlink Mini conversion cable creating a water tight fit. Then, you run an ethernet patch cable from the LAN port on the PoE Injector to the WAN port on the Peplink router. If you have any other questions, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
@@timothyauen155 our team previously said the cable to the dish is included. All adapters to create a water tight seal are included but a standard ethernet cable is needed to the dish which many customers have already in various lengths which is why its not included and optional at checkout. Apologies for my teams incorrect information.
I was okay with the 48V barrel but a 12V USB-A port? Why?
So, the USB-A Port is used with the optional "USB-A to 4-PIN Peplink Power Cable" that can allow you to power your Peplink via the USB-A port. That way you don't need a separate run to power your Peplink! If you have any other questions, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Additionally, the 5V USB-C port can be used to charge USB devices like phones if appropriate and also power some routers that run on 5 volts DC.
I looking for a solution like this since months! Thanks! But my main reason for the starlink mini is the low power consumption and our "-small- mobile serverroom" could have a heat-problem. I am a little bit afraid, that this 200w-thing is not build for such a environment or?
Voltage converters like this will only consume what is used, not what its maximum rating. Power does not just get "consumed" because you have a device capable of providing more output, that's now how electricity works. You will only consume the amount of power the Starlink uses and having an overbuilt device means less heat, more efficient operations and the ability to upgrade to a Starlink fulls size without having to re-buy another kit. Thanks for the great question!
Plus idle consumption plus conversion loss. That's where the heat comes from.
@@samuelfox8126 yes but with the mini your talking maybe 1-2 watts max, probably less. The unit sits at around 18-25w typically when in use and i'd say your looking at about 5-10% overhead at an absolute max. The same would be the case if you used the included AC to DC wall charger and the only other option is to just run the dish from the batteries but I've found the dish doesn't work well at 12v especially if you are using a longer cable as things like the vehicle starting or sudden voltage drops can cause the dish to reboot. Thats why we went with a 48v solution here.
@@MobileMustHave it's interesting how you're selling how robust this unit is in the video and here you're talking about how little power you actually need. I quick search shows poe's for $70. If you're talking 24w and those have a 150w ceiling and you're has 300w both are going to last a LONG time. And since the price of ALL kits for the v2 has plummeted that tells me the high price was just because they could because no one knew better. In capitalism, your margin is my opportunity. When there's lots of competition that means the margins are FAT. When most have gone out of business the margins are where they should be. That's the free market. Just like Nvidia's margins will significantly drop soon enough, so will the most expensive of any industry.
@@samuelfox8126 You certainly can pickup a lower cost poe kit for the mini, that's one of the benefits of something that will run on anything from 12-48v dc. I see kits that have a similar dongle and then bundle a passive poe injector that will work. We tested a lot of them and mainly the o ring seals and component seals were the weak link. These lower cost kits are not all bad, we found a few good ones. They typically do not have voltage converters so you either run it on 12v or you can buy a separate step up converter on top of the kit cost. Probably 100 bucks after all said and done? You'll have multiple pieces in your setup to wire up, you'll loose the USB output to power a router with the kit (not a huge deal) and probably the biggest thing is you'll loose the future proofing to use the dc kit interchangeably with full size Gen 3 dish or mini dish but it is certainly an option for sure. There are a lot of ways to get to the finish line in this race, we tend to focus on what we find is the cleanest and most future proof, not necessarily the cheapest. We also have to make a profit and cover our costs of R&D etc. We don't pretend that's not a factor. Thanks for the feedback and comments.

I live in the country and I have a Starlink and a Verizon mobile business unit. What’s the best way to combine those two for fail safe streaming? I appreciate your help and enjoy your videos
Thanks for reaching out! I'm glad to hear our videos have been able to help you out! If you are just looking for a router that can bond two external connections like Starlink and a Verizon Mobile Business unit, then I would recommend the base Peplink B One, which is like the B One 5G, except it doesn't have the internal 5G modem: mobilemusthave.com/products/peplink-b-one-mobile-router?_pos=2&_psq=b+one&_ss=e&_v=1.0 If you have any questions about the B One or any of our other products, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
@ what’s the difference between this and online bonding software like speedify
@@AblazeWorship Peplink has been doing it for a lot longer and with it integrated into the hardware and with advanced features like Synergy mode you can daisy chain just about as many Peplink's as you have USB/ethernet ports allowing for limitless expandability. Some customers have connected over 100 5G routers together on a single management console. Then the customization of traffic along for multiple sub tunnels and traffic prioritization based on tunnel and whether the traffic is upload/download gets pretty granular in terms of what you can do. This also integrates with PepVPN allowing you to not only bond connections but mesh as many sites together as your licenses will allow (3 by default I believe is included with most units) allowing for site to site traffic to pass seamlessly while having WAN redundancy. Lots of advanced features, too many to name but I cant knock Speedify for what it is, its a good solution for getting hardware that doesn't support advanced features lie this to do bonding for sure.
Thanks for the update, Erik. Been thinking about adding starlink to my roam +linked br2 5g max router. Not sure yet which Sterling I’m going to settle along.
Hi Joe! Good deal, I think adding Starlink to your BR2 Pro 5G router would be a great addition for redundancy and increased performance in rural areas! I was hoping the video was more detailed in showing the actual sites, but no. You just sped up the actual installation and talked most of the time.
I'm sorry our video wasn't able to help out more for you. No worries though, we have several more resources for installations on our products! If you reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com, we can help you out with any installation questions you may have and can help guide you to the rest of our installation articles and videos!
Nice explanation video. I went with the 90 degree entry kit without box for our 7-in-1 antenna, though I haven’t installed it yet on our Oliver. I’m surprised to see that you had the entry ports on the side of the box instead of the rear. Are these that good of a seal to not worry about water entry at highway speeds? That would make mine a lot easier to install, as the antenna will be mounted on an awning bracket forward of the entry gland. With just 7 feet of wire, the less looping I need to do, the better. Thanks in advance for your thoughts
Yes, they are! Whether you're installing directly on the roof with the 90-degree frame or on the side of a junction box, the Icotek grommets and frames hold up very well even at highway speeds! The grommets are rated between IP54 and IP67 and are made of elastomer, which allows the elastic to return to it's original shape after being stretched. That helps to keep the seal tight around the cables to help prevent water entry! If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
@@MobileMustHave Thank you! I already have the kit, and will be installing it directly in the curved roof of our Oliver travel trailer. There's not a flat enough surface for mounting a box.
@@Steve_and_Deb_Explore_the_USA Thanks Steve, also you notes the side of the box but this box is square so you can just point the cable exits to the rear if you prefer, it can be mounted in any orientation but if you have a choice mounting the wires facing rear would give you more protections.
@@MobileMustHave No box on my install. It is just the 90° frame directly onto the fiberglass roof. I'd prefer to have the exits pointing forward to minimizing any looping of the 7-foot 7-in-one cables, but I'll probably have it facing toward the outboard side. The antenna will be mounted on the Husky pole mount on my rear awning bracket, and the electric bay is in the far back corner. The entry needs to be relatively close to the back of the trailer, due to Oliver's double fiberglass hull. The roof above the electronics bay is only a single hull. Thanks again!
@@Steve_and_Deb_Explore_the_USA got it, understood. The box provides a second layer of protection should water ever get in since up to a quarter inch of water would collect in the box before dripping down the conduit. We've never seen this happen but its very important to size the grommets properly. If you have any questions let us know and please send pictures of the install when your done, we've love to see it!
Really interesting to use a motorized "lazy Susan" on the roof, so you could rotate the dish without needing to orient your vehicle to the north.
Decent kit. I went with a different box (hinged and mounted the domes on top). My concern with top mount screws is that it’s a way for moisture in and a concern when that moisture freezes. After a few years these boxes get brittle
Note the screws are on the outside of the seal of the box, there is no way for water to ingress as they are located well outside the brim/seal of the box itself. We tested many of those hinged boxes as well and found that they unfortunately do not hold up well over time and most of the hinge material is made with iron and rusts causing failures over time. Hopefully not your box, but just what we found out there. Thanks for the comment!
Great idea! Just posted to our Facebook Group. I used your trick of a 12x12 junction box for mounting our 7 in 1 antenna.
$100 um no thanks!
making your own saves you money for sure but if you want Icotek they charge for their technology and we think its worth it. After having a box baking in the sun for over 6 years with no brittle grommets or signs of wear other than minor oxidation on the plastic, the quality speaks for itself. There are definitely cheaper ways to do this, especially if you don't mind terminating the ends of your cables and we've recommended those options in the past. thanks for the comment!
Now watching this I realize I bought the 400P but it is not the RV model. The connections to the tires is not the same. I have a class C. Im guessing I can figure something out. Very good video thanks
Yes the ones on Amazon are not the same. That, maybe you are within your return window?
Nice
if i am in the Philippines, can i buy this in Amazon and will still be eligible with same benefits of your American customers?
Yes, you can! As long as the Amazon order is placed and fulfilled through our store, you will have full access to our support offerings for troubleshooting and remote configuration! If you have any other questions, reach out to us via email at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
There are different cellular bands used in Asia compared to the US. For most Peplink models there is a global version that has better band support outside the US.
@MobileMustHave but i mean, if i am going to buy the device in your store will i be able to enjoy the same support as with US customers? also are your peplink models compatible with the Philippine market 5g signal?
@@solarlivingph sorry for the confusion. We do not sell outside of north America currently and you would be better off finding a partner in that area to ensure your plug worked properly and that you would be able to receive global support. Sorry for any confusion my team provided saying we sell into your market.
Hi folks, any possible chance that you test out the Parsec K9 Pro antenna? Cannot find any single review on that antenna.
So, we have tested out the Parsec K9 Pro before and it is a very solid antenna with an very low profile, which makes it perfect for low-clearance installations and on ridged-roofs. Our partners over at Mobile Internet Resource Center actually have an article where they go over the different Parsec antennas, including the K9 Pro: www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/parsec-antennas/#deep Check that out and if you have any questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Have you surface-mounted one yet? How difficult is it to remove the top of the unit once the base is affixed to your roof? It looks like there are 8 screws which must be accessed from underneath. I guess it requires either a very short screwdriver or 90 degree adapter. Looks doable but a bit of a hassle. I don't imagine you'd be re-opening it frequently, but seems like they could have designed it to make maintenance a little easier.
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, the only way to remove the lid if it is surface-mounted is via the screws on the lid. So, you would need a shorter screwdriver or adapter, like you mentioned, for a surface-mount install. However, when the MAX Enclosure is pole-mounted, it is much easier to remove the lid. If you have any other questions, reach out to us at info@mobilemusthave.com and we'll be happy to help!
Does it support mmWave?
Unfortunately, Peplink does not currently have a router or antenna that support mmWave currently. However, Peplink is constantly making upgrades. So, they may definitely add support for mmWave in their future product releases, hopefully! Dang I just bought another antenna and am trying to build an enclosure!
The idea of this is terrific. Issues around cooling, etc. are hopefully addressed. For the non-radio folks, at these frequencies losses in the coaxial cable are substantial, especially with 10'-15' long runs with the thin coax usually used in these applications. Having the radio located just a couple of inches from the antenna(s) mostly eliminates these losses. To say there is any "gain" is a half-truth. In fact, you have less loss. But in the end, you lose less, gain more....whatever. If your mobile internet consists of mostly cellular, you should give this consideration. P.S. I use Starlink and have no need for this at this time.
Nice.
