I have had the hard wired one ( 50 amp ) for a while. No issues whatsoever.

I have used the watch dog surge proctor for 4 plus years on my Diesel pusher. Great product and great build quality. Thanks for sharing the new model.

I ordered a 50amp GEN2 from Hughes prior to them being available at MMH. Great unit, and the WiFi is awesome for monitoring from afar. However, many rigs are now coming from the factory with newer style plugs. Mine has a lever on the plug to assist with unplugging it. So it’s almost impossible to plug it into the gen2 product, and once it’s crammed into the socket, the new style door won’t close at all. So the weatherproof aspect that I wanted won’t work in my case. Hopefully Hughes will tweak the design a bit to accommodate larger plugs. If your plug is anything larger than standard, you might want to wait for a redesign.

Nice new features, but I really can’t justify the cost compared to the Gen 1 that I already own.

It's interesting that the Gen 2 only comes as a portable, no hard-wired option.

Hughes states they do not sell a bag.
The Power Watchdogs are IP65 rated, meaning they can be out in the rain and dust. We do recommend that they hang vertically and never lay them on the bare ground because water can get into the female end. We do not sell a bag to cover them, however you may cover it if you like. We would not recommend wrapping it in Saran wrap but a cover is perfectly fine if you prefer. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great day!
    Sincerely,
    Leandra Hammond

Great video and product! I’ve been wanting to add a system at the pedestal to check power before we begin to setup. We have a surge guard hard wired so we are protected by a quality EMS system but I like this one you discussed for an outside version. Do you know if having this inline with another EMS will create problems?

no, it will not cause any issues. The Watchdog job is to confirm safe power from the pedestal. It will either pass full power or it wont when there is an error.

Seriously though, we have your internet solution (peplink etc), blu water filter and softener, hoses, y splitter and more. Just waiting a bit to add this to the collection.
