We are Rob and Gwen Barlow, onboard our sailboat Genesis of Argyll. Having just retired to spend most of our time on the boat we hope to record some of our experiences and travels over the next few years. This is particularly with family and friends in mind, and in order to engage all of the different characters, and reflect the range of our own interests and perspectives, we will have a number of different themes eg our travel and sailing experiences, special locations and how we ended up sailing, along with videos containing an element of pilgrimage reflecting our lives as Christians. We have a web site svgenesis.com and will put content on that from time to time as well.
Episode 7: Gijon to Vigo - Part 2 (stopover in A Coruña)
Before we begin the second part of our sailing trip from Gijon to Vigo, around Cape Finisterre, we spend some time in A Coruña marina. We have a wonderful time visiting A Coruña with its Christmas festivities, its galerias and its second century lighthouse. Then at last a weather window appears for us to attempt the sail around Cape Finisterre and Southwards to Vigo. After waiting for 3 months since sailing over the Bay of Biscay, will we actually make it around the Cape this time?

Rob, that doesn’t look like marine grade fuel hose, for peace of mind I’d replace that. The clear braided type will harden after sometime and crack. Don’t worry about a few bubbles in the fuel system, Racor are known for that, it’s not a problem.
Yes, I should have mentioned that the hose its not recommended for long term use - I will correct that in a future video. Thank you for flagging this up, and thanks for the comments about the Racor bubbles.... I was beginning to think that bubbles must be normal.
You will still need to do the Schengen shuffle in The Canaries. The Schengen Area includes the Atlantic islands belonging to Spain and Portugal, such as the Canaries (Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa), Cap Verde and Madeira.
Yes indeed. So, we have to go back to the UK for the summer, leave the boat in the Canaries, and then back in October to continue to Cape Verde.
Great to see another video but your mugshots in just about every frame gets a bit tiresome! I know that over a few days you might not realise but condensed into 28 minutes it’s seems like a Chinese travelogue (the Chinese like to appear like statues in every frame!) A common mistake made by all newbies, Playing heavily based music whilst giving commentaries, It is never a good idea to play any music when you are Talking, Your favourite music may not be every one else's and it makes it hard to hear and understand you.
Absolutely right. That was a mistake which hopefully we can correct going forward. Have to say we have been a bit surprised by the interest... thought we would mainly attract family and friends! So we have started looking at the various advice given to RUclipsrs... both by RUclips and others. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

On all your videos, thus far, the music is far, FAR too loud [6:55] and I cannot hear the commentary.
Couple of people have said that James. We can't change the uploaded videos but hopefully the sound balance will be better with new videos.
Don't bother about the sea sickness, Ive sailed with some serious Ocean racing crew and many of them accept the first few days as wasted.. I'll be interested to follow your progress and as a heathen Id suggest far more reliance on good seamanship and practicality,, far less on divine intervention.. Don't forget that JC was only a carpenter (apparently) , so of limited assistance in mid Atlantic Fair winds & Bon Voyage

Hi. Here's my advice as a RUclips and social media professional. 1. Speed things up. 2. Try not to give away endings or future events, build those into the narrative. You know what happens en route, but you didn't even you left Oban so why should we know? Remember why your audience is watching, it's for the boat and sailing but five minutes in and we didn't even know if you had a cat or monohull. The key to a successful channel is in the storytelling! Good luck!
