great job well done thanks for sharing. have done several only used the kit from dealer 1 time
@DependableAutoTruck Thank you for I used those also they close to my relay kit just they come with a fuse they even use the same connectors I use. I’m thinking of going to soldering connectors for future jobs just to see how much I like over these. Although these have never failed me
Great video as always. Major diagnostic skills right there! Whenever you get a P.O. Box I’d like to donate a few power tools I got that I no longer use due to my health condition.
@timotheosfountas Thanks I appreciate I’ll make sure I add it to a video once I do. I looked into an ups box it gives me an actual address instead of a P.O. Box. And much cheaper.
From my understanding, if you add to, change a part or even spray cleaner or lube, that is now a taxable job. The only time it is not taxable is if you make an adjustment or do diagnostics without adding to the vehicle
@billdrift728 It might be different state to state here where I’m at in Florida. You only charge sales tax. If you sell something to the customer, even if it’s just shop supplies and you sell it to them, you have to put tax on it. All the parts and the labor. If we’re diagnosing something or even doing a repair and the customer supplied the parts we do not tax the labor only.
Pretty good temp fix. The guy just wanted it running. Thats why he had alot to say. If he wants it done a different wsy he'll call and have to pay for it. An hour labor at 150.00 is good.😅🎉
@alanrodriguez7341 I’m just happy it fixed
In the beginning you ask to tell you what we think. At the end of the video you tell those who disagree with you to kiss your ass. Ok..........your half ass repair is bullshit.
like all your videos, but don't know how you can put with some of the customers you have who try and fix their own stuff and then mess it up and end up calling you to fix their mistakes.
@wisfull11 It’s really difficult but keeps me in Buisness and good content
Absolutely thats how hes putting it
Nothing more annoying as the customer hovering over you while you work.
@Justntoys one of the down falls of being mobile thanks for watching
Nice video. Is that the 1/4" or 3/8" Lexivon torque wrench? How do you like it?
@Mr2004MCSS ITS 1/4" i like it it hasnt given me any issues.
@@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR Thanks.
Just ignore the idiots that put you down
@donald1056 im getting better at it! thanks for watching
You didn't lie to anybody, you provided a service and told them what was wrong.....
@michaelsavage9893 thanks
I see that you do your job to the best of your ability and also help people for free,💙
@ashercohen4739 yes we try! glad you see that side of it. stay tuned its the holidays we will be doing it again soon out free giveaway.
Do you know about the kit Dodge used to make had new fuel pump relay and fuse. they used to sell the kit to anyone but now i understand only dealer installed so what i do is use the STAR recall and use a universal relay tuck in under the fuse box have never seen one quit again. i have the wiring sheet if you don't know about it and will gladly share or you can find on google safety recall V62/NHTSA 19V-813
@DependableAutoTruck I did the same I have basic bigger weather tight relays and I just go over the wire diagram and is tall it my self. This one didn’t need that the relay works. I have a video that’ll be up soon if not already where I had to do that for a Caravn recently
I agree that's a pretty poor fix with the wires just floating around underhood. Ultimately it's the customers call but gee-whiz get the problem fixed right. I can understand you not wanting to be married to this truck and doing the best you can in a short period of time. Also, another great intro!
@judih.8754 I agree this customer will get it fixed with me he usually does everything I mention to him. But some others never they do. They just the bare minimum. He went and got this truck recently and didn’t have me go with him to inspect it. And now look what he got
Ben I’m not a certified auto mechanic and even if I were I damn sure am not here to criticize anybody. We all do what we do . Take what you like and throw the rest out . Being an high performance aircraft mechanic we were held to very high standards but in my other world like home and my own cars I fix what needs to my own safe best judgement . I will not criticize anybody . I will say I didn’t like the customer leaning over my shoulder not much you can do . Thanks for sharing Ben and hope you don’t have to return . 👍 Artie
@artie it’s just the keyboard warriors out there that always have something to say. I like to push their buttons
How you get so many customers? You advertise or what
@philh9238 I’ve never paid for advertising. When I started out I got friendly with auto part store employees showed them my trailer and what I could do and they gave out my cards to people asking for help. Kind of like this Saturday when I go live on RUclips in front of advance auto helping customers for my parking lot days event. I also once a week I used to post a small saying and a few pictures in 10-12 Facebook groups in my area and word spread from there.
It has to be annoying when the customer just follows you like a lost puppy!
@timothesfountas Sometimes I want to scream
@@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR When I was a kid the local mechanic had a sign in his shop that said something like, "Labor Rates: $25/hr, $35/hr if you watch, $50/hr if you help."
I would be interested in what these jobs cost.
@billyhellmaker I used to do that on other platforms but it never worked out well to many keyboard warriors complaining about how i run my company. So i just don't bother anymore sorry maybe if more people ask again ill do it some more in future.
At what point do you say no? like if you are sure a vehicle needs a transmission or an engine swing. do you still say" yeah ill do it on the street" or do you send them somewhere else?
@jasonhughes-y3q I don't do big jobs like that in the field i get it towed to my house where i can be safe with it. It doesn't pay to spend an entire day or 2 at someone's home doing an engine. So once my daily route is done i can work on it at home as long as i want so it keeps my day free to make money and see more people.
@@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR No zoning issues with bringing them to your home? or was there a loophole you found for your state? How did you determine the trailer size you wanted to go with? what downsides of using a trailer have you found out about that sometimes made you wish it was a van instead? What did you have to do for permits through city/county/state, and how did you find out what permits you needed for each location you worked at? How did you find insurance for being mobile? (this one is proving to be a challenge for me to find)
@jasonhughes-y3q So being mobile here doesn’t require city licensing or permits. The state if fl department of agriculture we have to be set up with but that is even county by county. The stuff I work on here is my risk but I’m Mobile so the city doesn’t care much. Insurance I found a good company willing to find good under writers to get the policy done exactly for what I specifically do. Hope that helps some. It’s really. County by county basis. And state basis.
I have had many years of mechanical work, and once in a while I get lazy and take one of my vehicles into a shop. It is SO VERY DIFFICULT to find a shop that has mechanics that either have time to diagnose, or the skills. In probably 10 instances of taking a vehicle to a shop, I have had to repair the repair, OR they failed to diagnose, eight of them! That is a sad statistic for over 50 years and ownership of 200 vehicles. (PS: many of these vehicles were flips, for the extra cash.) I started posting a few repairs on my RUclips channel about six years ago.
I subscribed to your channel @ThisOldMan-ya472

What is the exact address?
@NickTheMobileMechanic are you down here now? this is the advance ill be at 9580 SW State Rd 200, Ocala, FL 34481

@NickTheMobileMechanic yea come see me ill be there before 9 setting up but ill be there to at least 1 weather permitting. I'm always looking for other mobile guys here to network with.
Just curious why you didn’t disconnect the negative battery terminal?
@ntorres586 No need to. I’m not working on anything that involves touching the battery or the cables.

@timotheosfountas Not yet! ive been looking in to a ups mail box. If i go through with it ill post in the description of future videos
Great intro Ben, but I feel for you working in that heat and humidity. Nothing wrong with good used parts.
@judih.8754 Thank you it has been super cruddy out lately. Just wait until it gets cold and then I smash my fingers
Well done sir 🫡
Thanks @Joshua-g2e
Well Ben I guess that’s one of the draw backs of making everything out of plastic nowadays . Thanks for letting us do the repair lol . Stay hydrated. 👍. Artie
@arthurfricchione8119 It defiantly is a draw back. Thank for commenting Artie
Your shirt is soaked from sweat. Mine is soaked from cold rain. It's hard to believe we're in the same country!
@TStheDeplorable I can’t wait for the cold weather.
Cant wait to be Live. I support your live parking lot days. ❤🎉😅
@alanrodriguez7341 Thank you see you there!
You can hear it too doesn’t sound good
How long have you been a mechanic? Did you go to a school for automotive repair?
@barrysuss4421 ive been in the field right at 20 years. yes i went to school but that was a joke i did it because every place i went always asked if i went to school id say no and no one would give me a chance to prove my self. so i went and i actually got my first job out of in my second quarter. it was for ATT (BellSouth at the time) i worked fleet. i had my own 2 bays and parts room and office it was amazing.
Great video! Only thing I wish you included was how you got the left side window back up and out of the way. The attachment is still attached to my window and I cannot get the window to go up to free it from the track. Maybe you can do another video with that part. Thanks for ALL the other great info though!!
@HopWorksET thank you for watching and commenting unfortunately every car is different. but on this one i got lucky the cable was broken so it allowed the window to move and then i could take the 2 10mm bolts out. but in any other vehicle if the motor is dead then id find a way to unbolt the motor so the window can move freely. hope that helps some i have a few other older videos of other types of vehicles dong the motors maybe some of those have better visuals i belive its a Colorado maybe. but i will in future try to show it better
@@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR The cable was somehow wrapped around the spindle and was holding the window down. I popped the spindle (not sure what you call it, what the motor goes into) out and the cable unwound off it immediately. I was then able to lift the glass. I did not have a new cable or regulator and was heading to Albuquerque (wife was tapping her foot) so I took the cable that was still attached and wrapped it around a 10mm bolt that was closest and tightened the bolt. I used heavy duty heat-shrink tubing to buffer it from the edge to prevent vibration from cutting the cable. It's temporary but worked. I got that idea from your video (passenger side rear window). The window stayed up firmly the whole trip. We were so relieved we didn't have to do a cardboard temp window!! Anyway, THANKS!!!
@HopWorksET that’s great love that it worked so well. Good job glad you’re watching and commenting. Thanks again
Thanks for making this video. I'm having the same issue...critters got in and chewed at the same harness. I've reconnected the wires but am still getting the POO20 Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Open circuit. There is about 3volts at the harness (not sure if that's the right voltage). I tested the actuator, via service manual instructions, applying a 12vdc and it seems to be good. Although, it's got a 8.9 ohms resistance ...the manual says it should between 6.9 to 7.9 ohms. At this point, I'm unsure on how to proceed. I'm reluctant to take it to the stealership. Any thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated. As for now, I plan on going back in and recheck the connection I made.
@ny6983 i would go back over the wires where the animals were and recheck it all! the actuator works on a duty cycle. Meaning the actuator is controlled by the pcm.
Been with my wife at the hospital now for about 5 hours watching your videos. Good job on that diag and repair
@Joshua-g2e thank you for watching all my stuff! but im hoping you and your wife are OK and this is just a quick visit and back to being healthy!
@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR absolutely your videos are great to watch and very informative. You just put you mind to the job at hand and push forward that makes me watch every time. Well she's not doing great but its ok we're home now and will follow up with doctor consultations. Thank you I appreciate it
@Joshua-g2e well I hope she gets better soon prayers for you and her.
You need to replace the VOM or the truck will mess up again (the valley plate) the VOM is the cause of the lifter failing
@kenovalo1 Unfortunately we can only replace what the customer wants to spend their money on. I keep a clause in my paper work stating there could be more issues with other lifters in these vehicles. Thanks for watching.
its fine shut up.....had me laughing....good content...
@enus711 Thanks for watching
Great video. I'm starting out my mobile business and just got a trailer to work out of and your channel is what inspired me to go this route and has been a big inspiration
@Joshua-g2e Man that hits right there!!! So glad you are going out on your own!! Good luck and just ask if you ever have questions. YOU GOT THIS!!! Go get it.
@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR thank you soo much! I'm excited and motivated to make this successful for my family. Fantastic I'm probably going ask a few questions as I go. I love the battery supply idea!
@Joshua-g2e it works well I just need to add a few solar panels or better batteries in future feel free to reach out
@@3TsMOBILEAUTOMOTIVEREPAIR maybe a large school bus 12v or 2 to double the amount of stored amps. Yeah some solar panels would keep it topped off nice. Awesome thank you!
So does this truck have the cylinder deactivation? Just by looking at the valves it seems to be that design. These types of systems are problematic, I'm assuming that's why they redesigned the valves. Good that cam wasn't damaged! Thank you for posting this one, definitely appreciate it!
@bobcombs7138 Yes this has cylinder deactivation. This system is I’d say a good system but poor design on the lifters is where the main issue is. I’m really glad the cam wasn’t trash. Most customers don’t want to go for the delete of the AFM system. It’s pretty expansive. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!!
Well done great work thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Scope is the new deal man, believe be everyone is going that way 💯
Yes it is. That’s why I used it! Much better results and faster results
Great video! Would you mind me asking what kind of scanner you use for all your graphs and troubleshooting? Never knew you could detect a misfire by cranking and checking the graph
@timotheosfountas Hey sure no problem. But first thanks for watching my video! The one in the video is an autel maxisys ultra. I also have a snap on triton d10.
Ho did you know what cylinder without having a trigger on one of the injectors or coil packs. Nice video.
@reddfoxx2861 I didn’t have the footage but I just watched my misfire graph in engine data. And it has p0306 code
you do know you are getting a little old to still be on dirt bike. great video thanks for sharing
@DependableAutoTruck I know it’s up for sale now.
I've heard of that test but hadn't seen one. Interesting.
Great video Ben. Hey take care of that leg! You only have two and last I checked they're both essential for moving about.
@judih.8754 It’s getting better I can almost walk normal Now.
Recommend replacing oil valley plates and all 8 lifters on the same bank
@Max-j2r I agree with you because it just going to fail again. But most people don’t want to spend the extra.
Ben your videos are top notch . First one with a personal phone call . Damn that pepperoni sounds good will definitely hit the spot . That was a terrific in the car fix . You need one of those over the engine work platforms . Anyway thanks for sharing and have a good weekend and stay cool . 😊Artie
