For a year and a half I have been running this cassette from ZTTO. it looks good but does it perform well? For reference, the bike is currently running the Wheeltop EDS TX groupset, paired with this ZTTO Cassette and KMC 12s chain. I have used this groupset with a 10s dura ace chain and cassette combo. and I also have more than extensive experience with Shimano dura ace 11s and Shimano ultegra ...

Link to the plastic ones? Who makes the plastic versions your measuring?
They are the generic ones that come with your bar tapes. So Cinelli, Bontrager, canyon + many others. They were all the same design.
CeramicSpeed ~500eur for a wheelset bearings.... for ... .5 ? 1W difference? if any ... ?
Only worth it for corrosion resistance. Standard bearings can be made to spin just as freely. People may also get ceramic bearings then overtighten the preload! 🙄
It is such a minor watt gain that it’s almost impossible to measure it. I do think the short demo on the jockey wheel showed that the seals and grease has a bigger difference.
So one thing I’m curious about is why in the heck do they still sell the SL7 and not the SL8 with 105di2/105mech.
I can only make assumptions here, but I think it’s likely because they already have the mould so it’s very cheap to keep making them? Maybe a good way to maintain some profits.
For BB, just go for good quality steel, since most of our cadence spin wont be over 100 or 1000 , some-more steel bearing long lasting than ceramic bearing. For wheelset , i believe the difference for ceramic bearing will be during downhill only have the difference speed compare with steel bearing.
out of my 8 years of "serious cycling", the only bearing that failed me is ceramic bearing, it was BSA dub BB. A day after riding in the rain, that ceramic bearing couldn't rotate at all, because the steel race rusted, and the rust stopped ceramic balls from moving.
Do you remember which brand you used?
Ceramic bearing is like 10 times the price of steel bearing. So to change 1 set of ceramic bearing, i can change 10 times of steel bearing. which one will last longer? Of course, i have to do the changing myself and not send to workshop. i once had a bike that always trap water at the bb area and i had a set of ceramic bearing on the bb. the bearing was ok, but the raise was fully rusted and need replacing. So money wasted. Until one day they can come up with a ceramic bearing with ceramic raise that is 100% rust proof, im buying steel bearing instead.
They do have ceramic races on smaller bearings such as for the jockey wheels on OSPWs. Novaride use them. I don’t think they are very good for high load applications such as wheel bearings as the race is prone to cracking? (Someone can correct me on that one if I am wrong)
The answer to races dying is to buy only Ceramic Speed’s. Otherwise, Enduro XD15. Anything else is shill
I'll tell you when I very clearly sensed the impact of ceramic bearings in my wheels. More than a year ago I bought a pair of Swiss Side Hadron Ultimate 625 wheels that come with DT Swiss' 185 hubs that contain ceramic bearings. It happened repeatedly that downhill - when I was rolling together with other riders, same rider position, similar road bikes - my bike started rolling perceptibly faster than their bike. I repeat: this did happen at multiple occasions. For me this was convincing enough to plan for next spring the swapping out of bearings in my BB and pulley wheels for quality ceramic bearings.
Better aero position, less frontal surface? Too many variables
what happen with ceramic bottom bracket is made metal part turn into magnetic metal. till today i not know what make it into magnet probably friction from the ceramic ball but for sure i do not know
How very strange!
Could indeed be friction. You can make a magnet by rubbing a steel needle and putting it on a floating cork
Can't go wrong with SKF or NTN quality steel bearings
Ceramic are pretty expensive for the gains , in my experience they haven't lasted as long , put Ceramic in my mountain bike wheels , as they needed replacing not to make me faster 🤣 rear bearings were dead in 6months grumbling nicely
They certainly are expensive for such a minor gain! Interesting. Do you remember which brand you went for? I guess they have hell of a lot more to put up with on the MTB compared to Road
@cyclingunboxed there were enduro bearing which have a great reputation for being good , not sure the mud helped 🤣 considered ceramic for the road bike when rebuilding it , stock dub bb was £40 , Ceramic one was £300 and heavier ,will it last 5 times as long 🤷♂️
The guy from the SEKA brand trying to BS us into believing that design of the seat tube and drop stays junction actually serves some purpose. That kind of marketing really pisses me off. I'm really starting to get annoyed by the industry and the lying.
Only getting on the bike will we know. I want to try and ride one in 2025
I lose about 5psi after a week. I come from riding latex inner tubes so the 5 lb lost isn’t a big deal. People make it big deal about checking their air pressure before each ride. It’s just part of the game
Handlebar are the last part i would take a bet on (with forks). Nowaday there are chinese builder with a reputation for quality like yoeleo or winspace or exs for handlebars but those are far from cheap. If i had to take a bet on something cheaper i would prefer to go for something like Ryet that try to build its name. They know if they mess up they damage their brand. On the other hand a Roval knockoff might help you make you riding buddy envious but if it fails no brand cn be accused of messing up anything.
Height: 178,5 cm ≈ 5'10" Insteam: 83.5 cm ≈ 33" Should I choose S or M?
Do you have a current bike that fits well that you can compare the geometry measurements to?
I have specialized diverge E5 in 56 and it is a little to big for me, I'm too stretched out. The M is a little smaller and according to the calculator from the website it should fit, but I'm a l am between S and M I know that I should choose a smaller frame between sizes, but the jump between 56 and S seems too big The bike I'm interested in is the Canyon Endurance CF7
I love this. Thanks for sharing
what size is your bike, my bike is a 61 and i always worry about boxes fitting my bike. You look like your bike might be a 58
Yes, you are correct. It is a 58. Fits comfortably. I would think the 61 would be at the upper end but I am confident it would fit
@@cyclingunboxed thanks...ordered...
which one would you use for an ironman70.3???
100% aeroad. Even for a hillier or mountainous course. Especially the new ones where you can mount an aero handlebar
There is rubber cleaners for shoes. Amazon has it. I use it on the ends of my sneakers.
Thank you!! I am trying to get my partner new shoes for Christmas. He's an avid rider like yourself. He's picky. I've been researching like crazy. I know he likes Specialized and Fizek. .
fizik has some very narrow and some wider models. it's better to try them first. the torch on the other hand seems to fit more people wella s it has a wider toebox.
It feels like there is something missing from this review, which is really just - you on the bike doing a ride and showing the operation of the system. You never show the actual refilling action either, you only talked about it. Otherwise very thorough. Thanks
It’s true. My mistake was making this in winter. I did want more b roll but hate taking the TT out in winter + riding with someone else to film.
Thanks
what prep did you do to the rotors before swapping pads? Ideally this test should have been performed on a set of new rotors. If the existing rotors had already been used with the Shimano pads, there is no way the AB's were going to perform as well. The Shimano pad material was already embedded into the rotors. So unfortunately, unless these steps were taken, this is not a valid comparison
The rotors were not new. This is the first I am hearing of this that this matters. Do you have any data or links to websites that have any test results showing this effect for me? Prep was close enough to a normal protocol. 10 (ish) stops to zero, starting at 20kmh building up to 40kmh. I always do this over a full ride on their first outing. I can’t see many people buying new pads changing to new rotors.
This is very well known in all Motorsport. If replace pads with same make/model of pad, no rotor prep is required. But to change pad compounds without replacing or resurfacing the rotor is not going to work well. The pad material is supposed to become embedded in the pores of the metal rotor. Hence the term “bedding in” referring to the process by which a pad and rotor are effectively mated. A clean rotor surface is always key in getting the expected performance out of any new brake pad
how well would it work on a road bike with clip-on t bars?
I would suspect that it works very similarly. I think most road bikes have more space there and a wider downtube to hide the bottle.
@ I’m assuming that you could not mount a secondary bottle on the seatpost tube when this thing is installed, right?
Can't we just have the best of both worlds lol
The chainring looks more like a 66T or 68T one. 😮 My 60T one (Triathlon) looks much smaller. Maybe 'cause of different framesize. 🤔
What stem is on your bike
Hey! Are you referring to the mono riser on the TT?
Specialized missed on the head tube: too short. Most Aethos riders use a bunch of spacers.
I see that Rapha is still terrible in its design of the front chamois. It still looks weird (I always had to "casually" hold my helmet or something else in front of me when walking around, because of how bizarre it looked.) and is, no doubt, still damagingly uncomfortable for a man. This is a shame because the padding they have for the sit bones is unparalleled. My Rapha shorts were also shockingly non-durable.
I want to see a head to head comparison between the 2024 aeroad cfr vs the trek madone SLR gen7....an aero bike showdown
Great video with a great breakdown of the event. I hope to do the 312 in the future.
I hope you enjoy! As long as you book on the day the tickets are released you should get a spot
clown: how can you not know whether 2000 or 2500km?????
Not really sure why that makes me a clown 😂 😂 I ride a few bikes and test others so it hard to keep track of the exact mileage of each bike, that way I can only give you a range. The only ones I know precise mileage for are my TT and Main road bike as I record the exact chain mileage and bearing mileage to see how well the wax and bearing greases do.
Do not risk ! I didn’t and they failed !
I had a defect, 1 of 4 wouldn’t inflate. Or more like very restricted airflow.
“Nearly 30 in two months…” laughs in 50s tones
Shoe covers is probably a few watts. Also heard water bottle in your front jersey is a few. Great vid.
I believe even the triathlon federation have banned the jersey on the chest now. I kind of like that they did it because it’s a bit too ridiculous for me. Just made us look more silly than we already do 😂
@@cyclingunboxed HA I am just a roadie who does ultras. But great video.
Wider, more comfortable, tyres actually brought me back to cycling. Riding 23mm tyres at 120 psi killed all the joy.
I’m glad it has got you back into the sport! Those old school widths were horrible weren’t they.
Repeat after me - "BYOO-TIL"
Pro tip, grab a magnet and see if it adheres to the largest sprocket (which does have ramps machined into it) Aluminium isn't magnetic, so that's the easiest way to check if it's steel or aluminium. (Probably won't be titanium anyway)
Found this video a little later. Wanted to buy a Endurace cf slx 8, and i'm 170cm/81? XS?
Do you have a current bike that you can compare the geometry to?
@ a second hand brandless frame which feels a little bit big (only the reach). Based of my own measurements the size is quite the same. A 2XS seems too small. Or is it just about preference and comfort?
Usually a 2xs just allows for a lower seatpost, and also has a lower stack. If you like a higher front position and have a longer leg, I would probably go for the xs over the 2. The only ways I can see to reduce the reach would be to put the saddle further forward (maybe offset seat post) or shorten the stem
@ shorter stem not possible. Maybe a straight seatpost with less setback than the default one.
Hey!! Excellent video, I’m thinking of buying it, but if I decide to travel with my MTB, can it also be used? I would like to buy one that works for both
I do know someone who has tried but ended up buying a different box for MTB unfortunately. They couldn’t quite get it to fit. I have messaged them for more details as to why
Hey!! Excellent video, I’m thinking of buying it, but if I decide to travel with my MTB, can it also be used? I would like to buy one that works for both of us?
Thank you i have a broken clavicle and i did sergury 2 weeks ago, video was so good for me💙
Im glad I could help!
Just got mine installed. The reasons? 1. Arthritis in the hands, 2. Fits well on vintage bikes, 3. Price, 4. Don't have to buy another crankset, cassette, brakes, etc. Works well.
What tool your were using to mount the tire back on the wheels?
It’s called they Tyre Glyder. Really good for those harder tyres to put on. Blue is for normal road wheels, the red is for wider rim hooks on gravel wheels
Can someone give me real frame weights for the blue frame?
How tall is the rider ? What size bike did they use? Please and thank you
192cm on a size large for both. Very long legs and short body. I recommend comparing the geometry of your current bike to the canyons if it first really well A video guide for canyons here: Which size Canyon do I buy? ruclips.net/video/vbsCh2aUxLQ/видео.html
Doing a good job for the summary. I would add the bottom bracket. Going from 3 to 1 has created a new market dimension. Also rim to disc brakes was non existant few years ago and they are much better for me going down the hills in Spain.
I do love a disk brake! So good on those long descents (not here in the uk) + the wet braking performance. Really they are what has let the wider tyre revolution happen aren’t they
Can't stand those ones that live in the past... move on... 🤣
