IYV ILS300D Overview
I really like the IYV brand. I own many of them. This one was not one of the best quality built, but it plays well, and does not look too bad from a distance!

IYV IS-200 SB Review and comparison
Просмотров 2 тыс.2 года назад
This is a review of the IYV IS-200SB strat style guitar. I also do a sound comparison between a modern Fender stratocaster (50th anniversary), and my own home build strat. UPDATE: As of June 2023. FYI, I recently purchased another IS-200SB with the new headstock. It not only has a different headstock, but a fatter chunky neck. what appears to be a plastic nut, and not as good a setup as my firs...

RCA Victor 5F1 "Champ" style home build demo
Просмотров 703 года назад
This is a little ~3 Watt tube amp I made from a chassis of an old RCA Victor radio. I stripped out all the old components and used just the sockets and a small power transformer. The rectifier is a SS diode full wave bridge. The tubes are Mullard 6V6GT and one Tung-Sol 12AX7. Speaker is a no-name 40W. Circuit is basically the 5F1 champ circuit.
Review of the IYV IJZ 300 Semi-hollowbody
Просмотров 6 тыс.4 года назад
This is my perspective on this guitar. IMO it is well built and of great quality, comparable to much more expensive guitars from name brand co. The guitar is a close facsimile of a Epiphone ES-135 or ES-175. Sorry for the poor quality audio. I was using a cheap lapel mic.

Sorry for the poor quality audio. I was using a cheap lapel mic. IF you got nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all! I will delete all trolling rude remarks! This is a LP copy made by a Korean company located in Vietnam. IYV (not IVY) Very well made guitar. I own 4 of their guitars and have had very good luck with them. Passive Tone stack demo for guitar, LP jr.

This is a short demo on a tone stack (pass filter) I designed into my guitar. It uses a bleed cap and a roll off cap to basically create a low pass in one direction and a high pass in the other. If you like, please subscribe! and view my other reviews and fixers! Thanks!
firefly DCD (double cutaway, dual P90s LP style) Review

This is a quick review of this model of the Firefly single coil P90 style and a Les Paul standard cutaway style body. I'm not affiliated or sponsored by Firefly (firebird music). They are a Chinese company and a start up, so who knows how long they will be in business and how long before the quality of the builds will last. Please see my other reviews on guitars and pickups.

These are instructions for a 3.0L V6 engine on Ford Ranger, on how to replace the temperature gauge sensor and the elbow that it is attached to. It also shows how to replace the thermostat located on the intake manifold. This procedure would be similar on other Ford 3.0L engines such as explorers.

1999 Ford Ranger water pump removal and replace
Hey David! I'm David from Atlanta, GA. Just watched your video on the 98 Ford ranger 3.0 v6n water pump repl Thank you very much sir, you saved my ass with ur brilliant but painfullly simple method for removing the pulley fan clutch assembly i struggled for 2 days like an idiot trying to figure out how to remove it without breaking my other hand or busting my ass, u are truly without a doubt my hero for the day and I salute you man GREAT JOB BROTHER!!!! ,
you are welcome! glad it helped.
Thank you for the info and the video David! I just replaced the module on my son's 2005 Mazda6 and it stopped the fan from running 24/7. Pretty easy job. Be patient getting off the old clips on the module and the inside nut holding the module in place. If you have a ratcheting 10MM box wrench, that is ideal. I got my part online. Prices were all over the place. I got mine from 1A Auto for $65. Job took me about 30-40 minutes to complete.
Does anyone know what size are the 5 smaller bolts. it looks like there is 1 on top, 1 to the far right and 3 on the bottom. I need to get 2 more as mine broke.
just guessing, but they might be 1/4-20. or metric 10mm. but what i would do is take one of the ones that did not break down to a parts house or hardware store and compare to find the right size. and FYI, you should be using a torq wrench so you don't break them! should not be cranking that hard that they get broken!
Hi, does a Mazda 323 familia BJ 1999 model has a EGR valve ? Thanks
yes, they all will have an EGR valve, but it might be a bit different than this one.
Are u sure that is the sensor? I see only one wire coming from that part. Are u sure thats not the sender? I found out even the clerks at the parts store were confused regarding the ect sender and the ect sensor, ( the sensor has a cone tip and the sender has a cylinder type of tip)
a sender vs a sensor are the same thing in this instance. There is only 1 wire on it, because the shell of it is being used as the common ground. There is a thermo-couple inside this unit. It "sends" (if you want to call it that) a resistive value to the ADC (analog input) to the computer, where it will be interpreted.
Oh ok, I know I was really confused until I got the sensor out and the new one in, same with the sender, lol
The auto parts store reps were confused even more I believe, lol
This is a great video and much appreciated. I own a 2004 Ford Ranger with the 3.0 Engine. When purchasing the new replacement Water Pump, I also purchased a new Felpro branded gasket (for $5.49). The Felpro Gasket was much thicker, and much better quality than the one that came with the new pump. It allowed a secured a sealing during the installation process. I also purchased two new (i.e. two inch and like threaded) 13mm pump bolts from Hone Depot. I sawed off the head of these bolts to use as guide pins for the Water Pump. I then threaded these two guide pins into the engine block. It made the alignment and installation process so much easier. I did the same to allow removal of the Fan Blade from the water pump pulley. I removed two of the short pulley bolts, and then threaded these longer bolts into the pulley. I then used a large screw driver and inserted it between these two bolts (i.e. behind the water pump pulley). This prevented movement of the pulley, and allowed easy removal (as well as a secured tightening after reinstalling) of the fan blade. Also, removing the Driver's side Tire, made it much easier to access the (2) rear bolts that go into the rear Power Steering/Compressor bracket. I hope these additional tips will help someone else. I am not a mechanic, but was successful in doing this repair. It also saved me about $500.00 when doing this myself.
Thank you David for showing the part number for the connection elbow. I searched a long time for it and could not find it until I saw your video.👍
Get the rental tool from Auto Zone instead of using the adjustable wrench. The rental tool uses your breaker bar. The tool is thinner than an adjustable wrench so it fits in easier.
Where did you get you coolant fan control module mine is bad in Mazda and I need to replace it.I looked at some places and its 71.00
read my description above for details. but you can google that part # and find lots of suppliers. some are cheap and won't last. others "OE" type will. However, you probably will eventually need to replace the entire fan module. See my other video on how to do that.
Would this be the same for a 99 Ford ranger 2.5l
no, it would not be the same. 2.5L is a different beast
Nice job. I picked up a couple of tips that helped me change my pump on my 2002 Ranger. It is a pain. I see why it cost so much to have replaced. In 2024 it is 120**@hr at my mechanics. Thanks for the video
Thank you so much. Just got this car and the other videos I've watched are essentially useless. Thank you for actually showing where the thermostat is and how to access it.
terrible video
Having trouble taking off the A/C bracke off need help asp.
How many bolts the a/c and power steering bracke are ?
Thank you

I always rub one out before starting a medium sized extraordinarily frustrating job leaves a grin on my mug throughout the entire task 🤓
4:00 lol rookie mistake been there done that never again air hammer or NOTHING
Love the disclaimer lol wish i would have im beat almost Halle way done haven’t got or pulled yet
Mine has sunburst back. Changed the knobs to gold tophat style. Added front bow to the neck and cleaned polished fretboard and frets. Threw elixer strings on. Pretty impressed with this.
Put some GFS pickup in it to see if it sounds better.
I just did this repair on my 96 ranger with 218000 miles. On mine, the elbow fitting to the right was leaking. Since it's such a hassle and the part is so cheap I would highly recommend replacing the elbow at the same time as the tee with the sensor. They are both subject to the same corrosion so if one is worn out you can bet the other is well on its way.
No disrespect to the people that took off the WHOLE front-end. Were learning together after i disconnected everything your supposed to to free the fan's i just took off the air filter arm not the whole air filter took off bottom radiator hose bended it out of the way uncliped both sides of the fans I'm standing in front of the car pulled wire harness off there to the right in front of air filter to give enough space for fan's to pass through wiggled it to my right picked it up with my right down with my left bara boom bara bing it's out!!! To put back in start on your right put straight in 90 degree then with your left start picking it up and down with your right wiggle it in there we did it😏 LORD I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND I THANK YOU FOREVER WITHOUT YOU THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE
Just got one and not sure about it. Definitely has no centre block, only a small square of wood underneath the bridge. Pickups may be microphonic as I tap them with just a guitar pick and seems louder than it should through the amp. Small niggles with the finish but it’s nice and light and like the neck shape. Confused whether to work on it or return 🤔
yeah IYV have changed their design on the new 2023 models. if you have bought a new one, its lighter and more of a hollow body style. Not necessarily bad, just different style.
@@DavidTheFixerofThings oh ok thanks for explaining that. I wish I had the full centre block because I do like the guitar
and can he play after all that 1mm talk about the nut width?
Just wondering did your Mazda have a OBD port somewhere? I've got a 2001, 1.8l protege and have cold starting trouble. I'm also unable to locate an odb port. It does have an old diagnostic box under the hood. Cheers Jake
I don't remember. But most likely it was under the steering column
It doesn’t….. I checked mine multiple times and still can’t find it
I just looked at IYV's spec sheet which has the nut as bone. PUP's are Alnico V (N/M/B). It's on Amazons product page which as of Feb 26, 2023 and they have plenty in stock for $128.99.
They also have Fender style stamped steel frets. These guitars are actually on par with a Mexican Fender Standard but with better pickups and nut
Wow! I got mine in November 2022 from Amazon and it also has tue brown back but also, unlike yours, it is brown on the back of the neck and the sides. The only sunburst is on the front. The top of the head stock is rounded just like yours… I also ordered a second one, but it had Sunburst on the back and on the back of the neck and on the front… And I actually like the brown better. Mine had other problems, though like one of the pick ups or parts was not working, right… And lots a little finish dings around the sound hole in the binding… But nothing too big. But the pick up/pot issue was a pretty easy fix just re-soldering of wires. set up was great. The sound is great And the vibration through the guitar is wonderful. I really love this guitar.
I think I learned I find vintage Strats to be too wide, especially the 50's Classic Vibe Strat (which I assume is similar) - even if the nut size is the same. Is this a kind of a fat neck?
This guitar has 12" radius. Which is more like a Gibson. I really like it. Not too wide, but not to thin either. I have other strat style that have the traditional 9.5" radius and are narrow. I also have as noted in the video a USA strat that has a real fat neck! Almost too much for me!
Apparently the necks vary. Mine has a slightly wider nut than this 1.69, is really fat, round, with very full shoulders. Close to a FAT U shape
@@voiceofreason8594 so did you purchase one of the new neck styles? I just bought another one (just because it was so inexpensive), and when I compared to my older Fender style. the neck is not nearly as nice! fattter and chunkier. Nut is 43mm, 12th fret 52.76mm, and its thickness is 26.28mm vs my old one at 24.23mm. The nut is plastic! not bone, and poorly shaped. The frets are not nearly as dressed either with real sharp tangs. Guess they got cheap on us, or this was a Monday guitar? Owell, I was intending on replacing the neck anyway with a nice Warmouth I have. the rest of the guitar is great! beautiful body and finish! even the tuners are a different type and much smoother than my older one. However, the pickups are a little bit lower tonal quality that my older. But again, I had plans to replace these too, so no worries there.
mine has a nice thinner neck. But I just recently (May 2023) got one of their newer with the new headstock, and this one is a much fatter chunkier neck! I don't care for it at all. will be replacing it....
This video was a blessing for me, cant do it without people like you putting in the effort to help others learn. May you and your descendants be blessed for a thousand years 🍻
For future reference the standard current for the cooling fans on these models is between 11.8 and 14.8 amps.
Im Hard Rock and likin this
It's F-Spaces Homie! Yer guitar isn't F-Spaced!
No.... "F-Spacing" refers to Fender pole spaces. This is Gibson spacing (approx 50mm at bridge and 49mm at neck). GFS was just off on their MFG (or they made these to Fender spacing). Their website stated the pole spacing was 2 1/8. Which is a bit wide for this guitar. Also, depending on if it is a neck or bridge pickup, will determine spacing. Neck pups are typically around 50mm... cheers
I 've change my module control, is it normal that the speed of the fan is slower than the one that i replaced or does it need to reset in order to get faster? Thank you very much...
The fan speed is temperature dependent. it will run faster if the engine is hotter. Also see my video on replacing the entire fan module, in the event the controller fails again.
Where did u find that part
i think i found them at Autozone, but you can get them many places online.
Thank you, full of detail and straight to the point. I’m used to working on Nissans and this is completely different.

The Gibson 175 is much thicker then this guitar. The The Gibson 135 is the same thickness as this 300 but it’s all maple with a round back. This guitar is mahogany front and back. I have this guitar and honestly I believe the IYV 300 and 500 is it’s own guitar with its own sound characteristics. It’s a great great guitar. I own three I YV‘s and they’re all great but this one is special and I understand they’re making big changes over there discontinuing several models and making changes on other guitars they are keeping in production. This guitar is got nowhere to go but up. When you think about it this jazz box has limited ownership in the states and maybe perhaps increase its value. I gig with this guitar and other players think it’s a guitar that you would pay two or three Thousand bucks for. It’s fit finish Play ability and sound is everything you would want and this guitar. You can play jazz but it’s also got the goods to really rock out if you want.. I have been playing professionally 35 years and I teach guitar bass and drums. I own Gibsons Martin’s Taylor’s and Fenders but my I I Y V green Les Paul, my IYV mustang / Jaguar hybrid which is also a great sounding guitar and this 300 jazz box. They are part of mine guitar collection that I’m proud to own. I don’t know about everybody else but mine came in perfect condition and it’s set up was great and its fit and finish was perfect. I do have to say I’m surprise being shipped from Vietnam in that flimsy little that it’s even in one piece by time it gets to the states. They need to package these guitars much better. you’ll never hear me say this guitar is good for the money. I have had big brand guitars come leaving much more attention than these three guitars did. I think these guitars are much better then the way I hear some say. But I’ve read many reviews and there are a lot of people that agree with me. I don’t think you can get the green Les Paul anymore and I know they discontinued the hybrid jaguar/mustang. So I don’t believe there are a whole lot of these guitars floating around which I’m glad to say. Again thank you for your review. I don’t write to argue I am putting my two cents in and giving my opinion for what it’s worth. Thanks again.
Thank you for your comments. Yeah, the IJZ-300 is basically a class of its own.... but yeah its somewhere between a 175 and a 335, or perhaps a ES-137. but a class of its own. I own 5 IYV, and have done several reviews on them. I also own many name brand Gibson and Fender, and a few of my own design builds. The 300 is sitting right by me most of the day. Its the first one I pick up when playing. I can't build guitars for as low as these are built. I owned the green LP, but sold it. Wish now I had kept it. Just because it was so pretty.
I had to go back and fix my first reply to your post. My iPhone 11 is putting words into my post that I did not even say or type and when I go back to read it it makes no sense. So my first reply should be better. I think the green Les Paul is really Beautiful to. I am glad I have it. There was a post from a guitar builder that actually took the IYV les Paul style guitar apart. What was really interesting was how commented on how well the guitar was built. Epiphone Les Paul had a veneer top. And he proved that the IYV Les Paul’s have real flaming maple caps just like to Gibsons have. And the Epiphones run somewhere around $600 and up for their Les Paul’s. I also read that the IYV guitars cost a bit more in other countries including Canada. They went on to say that they believe they were selling at cost to Amazon to break into the American market. And I understand that Amazon is not going to carry their guitars much longer. I think you already cannot get the Les Paul anymore. Maybe I am wrong. if I wanted I could change out the pick ups and the tuners but quite frankly I don’t have any problem with any of it. I think their pick ups sound good and I’ve already got a Gibson Les Paul so I’d rather have a guitar with a different sound. I am a real IYV fan. I bought the Les Paul first and loved it so much I bought the other two the very next week. If I were you I would buy another I YV Les Paul simply because they’re not going to carry them much longer and it may be your last chance to get one. Again thank you for responding to my response to your first post.
Good review. I bought one and really liked it but have still not played it much yet. Kind of did it just because at that price I had to, but it wasn't like I needed another Strat! But... I was pretty pleased with it when I first got it, just haven't plugged it in since.
Het David, how did you figure out it was the sensor on the driver side the one that needed to be replaced? I drive a 2000 ranger 3.0 v6 manual transmission and has 3 sensors 2 by the engine and other by the catalytic, I got the code P1132 lack of HO2S11 switches - sensor indicates rich Secondary DTCs P1131: lack of HO2S11 switches - sensor indicates lean, help me out.
because your P1132 code tells me it is on bank 1. which is on the side where cylinder 1 is (i believe passenger side). sensor 1 is pre catalytic converter. hope this helps.
wow, what a PITA. I was going to do this before i sold the truck, but now thinking, naw. Rather go to the beach.
Excited for mine to show up from my Amazon order! So after some time now with guitar do you think pickups need upgrading ?
the pickups are fine. Not real bright! but still sound okay. plus they are quiet! So unless you want real hot ceramic pups, i would leave them. I did however discovered that the guitar was wired to the Fender 50s/60s wiring. which means the bridge pup has NO tone control. Which to me is not acceptable, since that pup can be so bright! So, I had to open it up and rewired it to modern wiring. I also found that the tone cap was wired to the vintage style as well. But other than than, I really like the guitar. I ended up lowering the saddles a little to bring it closer to a "fender" action. And I did polish the frets.
Nice review. They are currently out of stock at Amazon. I own 4 IYV guitars and I like them. If they restock I might get that model.
I have one coming tomorrow from Amazon but it will probably be one with the new headstock because its been 2 weeks since ordered it I prefer the older headstock too & I didn't consider it to be that close to Fenders for a copy guitar myself I liked this review The pickups sounded nice & being quiet for single coils ! IYV guitars are nice, ine of the top affordable brands out thier Top 5 in my opinion so Im hoping this strat type will fill my need for this type guitar in an affordable manner Thx for a very nice review because I think its the first one on You Tube fir this specific guitar
Thanks! and I hope you enjoy your new toy! cheers

Where did you order this part???
on the internet, there are a lot of places that sell these. try Rock auto. Or google the part number I show in the video. just be cautious that there are a lot of cheap aftermarket brands that do not last. Best to stay with an OEM approved brand. also, be aware that many times the fault of this controller is because the cooling fans have worn out and are now drawing more current than they should, and this controller does not handle this correctly (poor design), and will blow it out again. IN this case, I recommend replacing the entire cooling module. see my other video on how to do this procedure. good luck
Helpful, though took the advice of using sealant with the gasket, and now I know why the OEM DIDN'T use it. Extra failing point. Followed instructions on the tube, let it sit for 24 hours before adding fluid, thankfully it was only $5 of distilled water and not $50 of coolant, cause that gasket sealant failed HARD. Pissed like a racehorse, thankfully I was able to make it home. Going to disassemble, remove gasket material, PRAY it didn't damage the gasket, and reapply as OEM intended. Everything else though was a great help.
I had the the original amp in case 1457 Silvertone Red. From 1966 still in limited use today.
Very nicely done. Lots of videos on this job but yours was the most accurate and helpful. Thank you!
