I love pets... especially dogs. But I don't really understand the pet craze, unless you are an old person with no children in the house. Even then it needs limitations. Pets have been an interesting conversation this past year. My wife's family is quite close to their pets, and at the time (late dating, mid engagement stage) she had a lovebird and a little street dog, both 15 years old. Both died this year, the bird dying actually the weekend that Jonathan Pageau and Fr. Maximos Constas visited our Parish. I think pets are very important because they remind us of death, but there's a huge temptation to let our affection for pets rob us of life.

Seeing all the "dog parents" around now is so sad. My wife thinks I'm mean/crazy for not allowing such language/behavior in our house with our dogs. I'm not sure they're an object of worship in place of God, though. It seems to be almost exclusively childless women and empty nester couples with no local grandkids engaging in this, so clearly broken brains looking for stand-ins for the children they're supposed to have, no?

I'm a dog groomer and it is INSANE the things I hear and see people do for and to and around pets.

He was kept on the ventilator for over a month and it destroyed his health to the point of no return. He had a heart attack due to his declining health after a very serious car crash before all of that. Needless to say, when I eventually joined GOARCH, the priest not only dismissed my concerns and pain of heart, but he fully supports the stabby, globalist “climate change” bs, and gave no catechisms when I was baptized. The entire parish had a delayed reaction in accepting me at all. I never once hated them, was I upset, of course, I’m human. But the lack of empathy and compassion eventually burnt me out and I lovingly was accepted into ROCOR. I will never stop having faith, hope, and love.
