I met both of you (very briefly) at the SWSummit and it’s so nice to hear this conversation. It feels like a gentle reminder to press in to “the beauty “ of life.
I have some friends who feel very close to Christ, and therefore don't feel that they have any need to be joined to the Orthodox Church. Given that Vesper also felt a close bond with Christ prior to joining the Church, I would be curious to know if she had a similar objection, and if so, what caused her to ultimately join the Church. Or, if she didn't feel any initial objection, if Vesper has any insight on what may help encourage people to join the Church if they feel that they are already close to Christ without the Church. Is there anything we can say to them, or is it better to keep our mouths closed and just pray for them?

This conversation reminds me of Rachel Fulton Brown and her work on the medieval devotion to the Mother of God.
Your discussion of Eros reminds me of Patitsas Ethics of Beauty
