I do like old Toyota Commercial vehicles infact l own a 1997 Toyota Hilux ute wuth an aluminium tray and l live in N.S.W and of course we have our years registration inspections well my Hilux has only been failed twice and that was to do with the exhaust system in N.S.W your Hiace would fail because of the rust it appears that Hiluxes rust less than Hiaces less metal to rust but you did a good job of removing the rust on your Hiace and l know the engine is a 2.4 litre four cylinder as my Hilux does but in my Hilux it is the 22R engine and it is also very basic but l do have air-conditioning which was an optional extra and the radio cassette was also an option extra and the radio cassette has stopped working but the air-conditioning still works and atleast the Hilux ute has a sort of crumple zone up until the end of 1997 commerial were exempt from emission and safety laws and l see a lot of much older Hiaces around and newer ones so many around after all the most important thing is its a Toyota

Love these cars...the last proper ultra reliable Mercedes, have owned w124 230E manual, a w210 pre facelift which came with the full Brabus package and now a w210 facelift ....all.of them drive fantastic. Recently drove a C250 2023 model and its driving doesn't resemble at all the old Mercedes style, let alone that it has numerous reliability issues...my super dream Mercedes is a w 140 coupe but they are very rare to find in decent condition and fairly reasonable money

Great vid Mate but diff gears are an easy upgrade in these as there's a shitload of 3:45s from xr6s around and will be noticeable if swapping from 2:92 or 3:08 ( mine was a single pegger 2:73 in my ea s pack) but not so much if you already have 3:23 gears but I wouldn't bother with bigger injectors cause they will only be flooding it with fuel unless you have a j chip etc to tune it I tried years back with au xr8 blue injectors and even with the mildly built 4lt I had it just used more fuel with very little gains if any.
