How To Prepare the Floor for Vinyl Plank Installation
Yes, that foil tape is very high tack and good stuff.
Thank you. Can you describe your process for laying glue down LVP over OSB?
Same way 100% nothing different.
Thank you. No priming or anything? Some are saying you need to put down 1/8" plywood or self leveling concrete first.
Lol that's not going to last a year. Use a can of post-set contact glue. Spray a little, let it dry for about 30 sec and then press firmly
Wow
Use a tongue depressor to press the tape down for maximum seal
Thanks!
Question: Is the same paint you used for the soffit, is the same paint you used for the gutters?
Yes any exterior paint.
I thought you put up vinyl to not have to paint.
I bought my house, it has a yellow siding and its not my color so I will paint it.
@robingutierrez1285 great! For sure! Good luck!
I've pressure washed 2 exteriors so far, and yes, a lot of dirt came out of the soffit, and I had to spray quite a bit. But it was definitely cleaner in the end. Am i missing something else?
No you are all set. Just clean it well and paint it.
How long do you have before the glue is no longer tacky? Do you have to do it all like in a hour?
More than that, it does not dry 100% don’t worry you have plenty of time. Please like and subscribe! Thanks!
@@TheHandyNeighbor thank you for the reply I just subscribed another question what adhesive should I use when using 1/4 underlayment plywood?
@@nimster64 you can still use the same glue. This thing is sticky as hell. Thanks! I would go directly on concrete with vinyl I would not add any underlayment.
@@TheHandyNeighbor thank you the subfloor is 3/4 plywood. And ontop of the 3/4 I was going to add the 1/4” plywood underlayment. I don’t have concrete. It is a raised sunroom in Chicago
Sure no problem, this glue will work, CUSTOM has a good flooring glue as well that is very sticky too.
Awesome
Solid video. Thank you!
Very nice job! If one of the tiles gets damaged later, can the damaged tile be removed by a heat gun? I know peel and stick can but will this type of glue soften with heat? Liked/Subbed.
It will stay partially sticky so if that ever happens just remove the plank and insert a new one over. Please like and subscribe! Thanks
@@TheHandyNeighbor Thanks!
Very informative!
What is the brand of LVP used in this video?
Uf.. I am not sure bud. Sorry was a while ago.
Is this available in canada?
Yes I live in Canada! Please like and subsxribe! Thanks!
@@TheHandyNeighborthanks.. I actually was looking for insulating the garage door. I saw your video and it's insulting the walls... is there any insulation you can suggest for garage doors please? Or any other video you made for garage doors?

You do sure a good job of being precise in your explanation. Thank you!!
This video was great!!
Why didn’t you add weed cover on the dirt section?
I did, was not covered in the video. Thanks Please like and subscribe!
Nicely done! Thank you.
Great job men! I really liked the video!!
Composite cladding should be safe to paint right?
Yes, you should be ok.
Question; vinyl shrinks in the winter. Does it expose unpainted surfaces? Thanks for a great video
Nice work
Nice work 💯
Thank you brother!
Swivel adpts. Suck, use tail peaice and slip joint. Your trap with the key catch is pretty useless. You really don't look like a plumber. Clean work.
Nothing is wrong with this trap. YOU DO’T KNOW WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. It is perfectly good and will work for the next 50 years. I installed this trap in many commercial places and it passed inspection every time.
And I am not a plumber. You don’t have to be a plumber or go to school to know this, this is basic DIY common sense stuff.
👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the feedback!
And about the garage door?
There is nothing much you can do with that, you will be loosing some heat there for sure. Please like and subscribe! Thanks!
Thank you! Done!
I like your Hawaii shirt!
Thanks! Honolulu - Walmart.
Haha that’s very handy!
Thanks.
C TEC from Italy hands down the best sink and strainer
Incredibly informative video; thank you! I’m in Seattle, where it rains 9 months out of the year. Is oil-based staining still recommended? Would it be good to go over it with a waterproof top coating after staining to make it last longer? The deck only lasted 1.5 years before it chipped and peeled (idk what the previous owner used, but I was told it should last 5 years before I need to refinish, which obviously lasted only less than 2 years).
Did you cover the top after?
I did not but you defenetly can, it is optional. Please like and subscribe! Thanks!
It all depends on how much sun / elements the deck is getting. We have an 8 yr old deck which is exposed to a lot of afternoon sun. We stained with oil based semi transparent stain 3 times. It needs restain badly and we’re considering just going with solid deck color now…bad idea? Thanks!
You are right, nothing is permanent except compisite deck but solid water based will flake very badly. You can give it a try for sure and be ready to work on that in a year or two again but again nothing will stay nice and shiny forever. Please like and subscribe! Thanks
hi! thank you so much for this video. we have a couple of questions: 1. what tape/paper dispenser are you using? 2. how many gallons of paint did it take to specifically paint the home excluding the soffit? 3. how many hours do you recommend your clients wait before using their front door (if no other door is available)?
Please like and subscribe! Thanks! - 3M dispenser - every paint store has it! - take 5 gallons and you should be ok as I used 4 here; - Paint will dry fast if it is warm outside within couple of hours; Let me know for more questions;
Lol looks like a beginner, we do this lvp flooring on multi housing jobs on a daily basis 1500 to 4000 feet a day
Nobody cares what you do man. This is DIY channel, go brag somewhere else.
I love the over lapped boards, curious if add a 1x4 top cap running vertically would be advised to keep water out?
Not bad idea, it one of the ways to do it. Good luck. Please like and subscribe. Thanks
Yo. What is the name of that green paint? Thank you
407 Hedgerow as far as I remmember Vinyl Safe
Like and subscribe! Thanks
Could I attach an aluminum gazebo to it without any footing?
Yes you could.
Nice
Good job and good video! Thanks
Since they don’t make 20’ deck boards should’ve done the deck board in a combination of 8’ and 4’ boards. Then alternate them to break up the seams 4’ then 8’ then 8’ next row would be 8’ 4’ 8’ then 884 and repeat that’s give you the best look and achieve your 20’ deck width
Just an FYI, they do make 20' decking boards in PT and composite.
Thanks a lot for explaning it in details. Good job, no mess.
Great tips and tricks! Thank you very much, this is what I will use once I start painting my baseboard over carpet this month! Looks very easy and I will give it a try!
Thank you for the feedback!
Video very clear! Step by step easy to understand wood fence look very nice .👍
I see you used green frog tape to mask off the soffit that you recently painted...... I guarantee that the fresh paint came off as you removed the tape.... You should have used the purple tape.....
No I used green scotch masking tape. Frog tape is too expensive, no need for this project. I came day after painting the soffit to mask it off, and It did not remove any paint. Thanks
So where you start and glue down the first 2 planks. Then when you start the rest won't the glue on first part be dry when you start the rest? How do you ensure it won't cause a seam to appear between first 2 planks and the rest?
Im doing a huge room and also wondering if I can do half one day and half the next? Where on stops and you begin the rest the next day how do you do it?
Yes you can. Don’t go to far with the glue in that case. Lay one row of planks far as you want, mark it where it ends and apply the glue only up to that sport where your plank will and or one inch over.
I like to start in the hallway in the middle of the space but make you you pre-lay few planks to se where it ends.
If the glue is dry it will be sticky for a long time so you will be ok.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so very much for posting such a detailed video. The house I bought has exactly the same siding, color and all. I don't like the color and coincidentally would much prefer a green. I was just starting to research if I could even paint the vinyl siding. Your video provided me so much of the detailed information I need to tackle the project. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It means so much!
Thank you for the great feedback, it means a lot! Please like and subscribe! Thanks
What about the rest of joists, how do you know the rest of it is not rot. would just replace it all, better and will last longer for sure.
Love it. Thank you so much.
Well done, very good job! Thank you!
Great Video! Thanks
