The problem with Hydraulic Front Assist is you're moving fluid when the front tires are moving, even disengaged. That takes power and cooling no matter which you are doing and cold weather is nothing nice. I seriously think you could remove the HFA put a 2wd axle under it and be happier. Remember that these HFA tractors have a 46 GPM pump in them, not the standard 23. If you split it, you need to leave the front stationary and roll the back half. The front axle needs to be blocked from oscillating before you split it.

Yoo dude. Yes would love to see the Eaton fuller swap. I dig your truck and all you’ve done to it. I am currently about to swap my 06 ram common rail to that exact Eaton fuller. Using the divorced kit for the 271s transfers case. Iv already picked up the flywheel housing for it. I finally found one with a driver side started and I am looking for to source the transmission atm. Haven’t got any local leads for one here on the west coast yet.

Perkins 3044C is also sold domestically as a Cat C3.4. Dont buy new, they're super-common in generators, pumps, and other stationary applications, you can buy runners from $1-3k depending on hours. Govplanet sells quite a few new gov surplus every year and Ritchie Bros and Machineryplanet have plenty of used engines and used equipment that could donate these.

Thank you for this. I have been debating on getting one of these but if they aren’t going to back the product that’s this expensive I think I’ll have to pass on it which sucks because they seem to be very popular and a lot of people like them. I have a $400 hulkman 10.0 that works great for me. Haven’t had any issues with it at all. But I really like these units. 😅

More than likely the battery inside is lithium polymer the same as what most RC cars/planes use. Lipo batteries MUST be stored at nominal voltage when they aren't going to be used in the next couple days. Leaving them at full or near full for more than a week is going to cause degradation, not only in capacity but also in internal resistance and IR is directly related to discharge rate. Not sure if the manual says anything about storing at nominal voltage (3.80-3.85V per cell...seeing that the power adapter is 18V I'm going to guess its 4 cells in series?). I guess thats what all those output ports would be good for.

A 4450 is already 12v... what the hell you talking about... be truthful in your dumb statements... 12v is about the wiring... 2 6v in series is 12v... are your dumb statements... tell it factual 2 12v in Parralel double the cold cranking amps.. wow you make it sound dumb the statements you used its still 12v I couldnt imagine how dumb it would have sounded if you were converting the older 24v cranking system to 12v... ... why not just ground it to the frame... geesh

I am new to your channel and am interested in this tractor progress however you seem to spend a lot of time re capping what the future holds for it. e.g. cab kit mentioned 5 or 6 times now, A/C system to be replaced as its junk, Light kit and paint all keep being mentioned in great detail. I don't wish to appear negative as it is good to know what direction you are going, but I would like to see more of the actual work/testing being carried out rather than you saying OH this is what I have done. Hope this helps you with your content. Thanks Stew

So, the tractor has been 12V all along, right? You just changed the battery configuration from 2 6V batteries in series to 2 12V batteries in parallel, if I understood you correctly.

I’ve had 1999 cat 246 two speed since it was New and have never had any engine problems. And I am ashamed to say we were slow to change oil. But we do grease regularly and yes, we have been changing oil every three months now. The only thing we’ve had go wrong with this machine was the passenger the right side as you sit in the seat drive gear. And then we had to have caterpillar flush the entire hydraulic reservoir because the bearing sent shards of metal into the hydraulic tank according to them. Other than that we have replaced an alternator and some hydraulic hoses.
