I'm gonna be honest, even though Alcatraz was a voiceless character, I really liked *him* in the story. The line "They call me Prophet" is really cool, sure. I used to think it was Alcatraz taking on Prophet's name and legacy, only to find out that, no, Alcatraz is basically dead-dead. His body is just a puppet for Prophet's mind, and in the novelization the man barely even remembered who Alcatraz was. And it chokes me up every-time. Alcatraz had a family, he desperately tried to fight for control to get back to them, and he was taken away from it at the last moment.

15:20 It's complicated. I do find it arousing, but at the same time I don't like it. It feels a little humiliating to be pandered to like that, but the more egregious part is I don't even want to be horny. I booted up a video game because I wanted to play a video game. If I wanted to be horny, I'd fire up my internet browser, find something to be horny about, and let nature take it's course. I can certainly appreciate a good booty shot, but that's not what I'm here for. Best case scenario I roll my eyes and move on, worst case I'm all distracted and thrown off. Either way, for a moment I've been jostled out of the experience and for a split second I'm no longer the character in the game, I'm myself in real life sitting at my computer and looking at an ass on the screen. Not that I have a problem with a little sexiness or even full blown nudity, as long as it makes sense, doesn't break the flow, and is in service to the story. I'll admit it's hard to define what the difference is, but you just sort of know. It kind of feels like the dev is on the other side of the screen, winking at you and saying, "yeah, you like that?" like a 1980's era peep show proprietor with male pattern baldness, two few buttons on his shirt and a perpetual sheen of sweat. I don't think I have to say that that feels a bit gross.

I really can't give over how the rig was considerably more dangerous and scary than the monsters

I've been thinking of all the stories I've seen with SA that I enjoy is most Brian Bendis' _Alias_ series about Jessica Jones and she was just mind-controlled and made to wear skimpy lingerie, not once did the Purple Man actually assault her. If anything, it's amazing the comic is that good despite its presence. I'm really bothered how much SA is in WoW since I just grew up on the RTS games.

15:20 Well on a basic level, there would be a difference between what a hetero guy would find attractive in a woman than a woman attracted to one. For a hetero, the attractive attributes in the opposite sex are often driven by basal desires, lizard brain stuff to put it simply. Attributes which indicate or mimic fertility and virility, like in this case that posterior angle. This has to do with the drive to procreate, which motivates and in effect gives dopamine hit when looking at sexually overt caricatures of the opposite sex. Same sex relationship however is not my area of understanding, so I may be wrong. But I believe similar traits wouldn't be as attractive, as the drive to procreate isn't the driving factor of same sex relationships. The biological radar so to say when looking for a potential partner would prefer other physical traits and behaviour, quite possibly the opposite of hetero attributes in some manners. So it's quite possible that a homosexual would get put off by a heterosexual act, because that's not what they are biologically motivated to look for.

To answer the question like many others, it's weird, it's big uncomfy to me. I've never understood the appeal, even when I was a younger lad, it always felt...Creepy at the very best, and downright disturbing at the worst. And I get it, women are pretty, I think that's a pretty well-accepted rule of thumb; but they're also more than just attractive? Crazy notion here, I know, but women are humans too! My snark aside, I don't love it, there are games that handle those scenes with more taste or at least with some level of comedy; though that still isn't exactly good for obvious reasons. And it's frustrating a lot of the times to see a female character get reduced to that, because I genuinely just get annoyed that in lieu of making a good character, they got eye candy and unga-bunga level thinking.

Bi guy so maybe not too applicable but shameless fan service is flatly embarrassing. there is a way to make sex and sex appeal part of a character and not have it detract, feel or read as exploitative and that's if they feel like a real person that in addition to all other complexities, flaws and strengths is also appealing in a way that empowers them and they consciously use it as a tool or something they embrace and like about themselves. But if a character begins and ends at sex appeal it's cringe at best and offputting at worst. Tbh way that they wrote Galloway, the very bleak reality of occupying military forces and the victimization of especially women in warzones like this and other institutionalized cruelty they brought up and then either handwaved or just made a Snidely Whiplash tier mustache twirling villian to Scooby gang giggle his way through war crimes says to me that they thought of their target audience as mostly slawjacked 15 year olds that you can jiggle an ass at like a set of keys and not have to write something engaging or handle anything you've brought up with maturity. Shit's cringe basically but thats just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

Sony NEEDS to remake or reboot this series. And Killzone as well. Most PS3 exclusives are basically dead media. Except for Uncharted and Demon's souls

Now i'm not sure if i'm allowed to have a word on this since i'm a man who had never faced these traumatic experiences, however it pains me how rare these topics are brought up (especially on male spaces) and when it is brought up in form of media, it is often just used for shock value (or for the laughs if it's done to a man) So i appreciate this video showing something more nuanced, especially since it helps me understand better the point of view of women and their hardship.

I haven't even played the game myself but researched the series enough and can 100% tell you... That whole 'Mild Critique' section doesn't really belong. Throughout the game it was clear that Tower was what was allowing the Chimera to operate and their defeat wasn't a BLANKET DEFEAT, it just removed them from a country where as in other parts of the world, they're still kicking. I get what you're trying to say but it just isn't exactly correct. Overall? A nice video!

Man, it is an absolute crime that I didn't even know this game existed. That was heart wrenching. But as someone who recently applied to work on a rig, its got me a bit self conscious 😅

This is my all time favorite video game series, so I'd just like to give some advice. 1. You're in for a treat with Resistance 2 & 3, but Resistance Retribution is also great and worth playing. It explores aspects of the lore which aren't really looked at outside of that specific game. Like what the Chimera do with women, and the Cloven, who play a much bigger role in Retribution's story. 2. Speaking of the lore, if you want the full story there's also 2 tie in novels, a tie in comic book, as well as a 5th game which was a Playstation Vita exclusive called Resistance Burning Skies. 3. There's certain bits of lore that aren't really explained because the series pretty much stopped after R3 (except Burning skies). So when you learn about things like "Gray Tech" for example and wonder what that is...keep wondering, because it's hinted at, but never actually explained. 4. Spoiler Alert!!! Yes, they are indeed not of this earth. I have more thoughts but I'll just leave it at that. Really enjoyed the video. Always happy to see people giving this series some more well deserved attention.

15:30 when I was young, I loved it. It was like opening a playboy as a teenager for the first time and seeing boobs, a rush. Now, I'm just like "Cool I guess, can ya move your ass? I wanna see the cool lore drop happening!" It can be enjoyed in some cases, but unless you're playing a game meant to have sexual overtones, I find it to be a bore.

"you can guess why she had such a watchful nature to being with" that really hit. it's a heartbreaking experience to grow up and hear the pain neighbors, friends, family, close family have gone through and understand where the hypervigilance is born out of. the grief, the anger, the impotence at hearing these stories, and the selfish gratefulness of not having had to experience them myself. tangent, but it's why I have a sort of contempt for modern retellings of persephone that give no thought to demeter beyond this, in my opinion, male oriented "naggy, overprotective, controlling" vision of a mother. there are controlling and abusive mothers, yes, but given the constant stories of the gods kidnapping and abusing and killing, was demeter really that impossible to sympathize with? was she really so out of reason? to fear for the child you love to suffer because you looked away for a bit too long, a mistake that can ruin or end her life without consequences to her aggressors? I mean, hell, she was right, kore did get kidnapped! idk my heart aches thinking of demeter, a goddess yet powerless in front of so many other gods who might fancy a new young toy to play with. and to all the girls who buy into it, that being warned and protected equals being treated as a child, the ultimate shame, and they should instead rush onto this nebulous "freedom" that often coincidentally aligns to his desires instead. it's a widespread narrative that, really, really benefits predators, and i wish we examined it a bit more closely sometimes.

A stone is a stone is a stone, unless you're napping flint; then there is a Perfect Stone you can find of the right shape and size to be a hand axe. Things Needed Purpose is human 'Perfection' as a desired and acheivable state is a human invention born of our own insecurities. So part of me goes OF COURSE the Simulacra sounds like an incel edgelord, it was raised on the internet which means the Manosphere is in there some where. But another part of me feels Absolutely Certain that an AI capable of self awareness, of deliniation between Me and Not Me, would recognize the patterns and the Game online personalities play... and that They Don't Set The Rules. But maybe it can't. Maybe it cannot delinate between 'me' and 'not me' Thats how well meaning parents hurt their kids as they grow up; still seeing them as Part Of Their Flesh when that stopped being true 10+ years ago. That is how poorly socialized kids treat their friends, desperately trying to form a theory of everything to feel in control and coming back with shallow answers that don't hold up. Its how abusive men view their wives; part of them, under their control, predictable, simple, Contemptuious. I think that's part of why nihilism gets under my skin so bad. Its a defense mechanism clung to WAAAAAY past the point of being helpful.
