As with all classics buy the very best you can afford. Look out for A-Pillar rot in the footwells. water pump and timing chains tensioners failing. If its a Nikosil engine check compression. And the gearboxes on the non XJR's can fail. Other than that a delight to own.

Interesting video. The X308 cars are great. Like that you use the J-gate. My X308 has done 236k. Constant maintenance is the key to these cars. I believe that your car is actually SWB.

I had an X reg / 2000yr Sovereign model, 4.0L same colour as the one in the video. Sold to me looking immaculate, within six monthths rust bubbles showing through the rear arches, broke my heart. A later MOT revealed serious rot on the drivers floor, paid for welding but the garage advised I get rid as loads more rot was there that would be an advisory for now but future major MOT repair. Mechanically very reliable and fuel consumption not bad for a V8 if driven gently. I would be very wary about buying another but the nicest car ive ever driven

All Jaguar need to do is release an updated head unit which can be retrofitted into these and older Jaguars which has apple car play and android auto, and this car would be up to date with todays standards of car tech.

I foolishly scrapped my ST24 about 10 years ago due to some rot on the rear arches, at the time I convinced myself I couldn't afford the work done even though it wasn't that bad. I still have dreams about it to this day, then wake up absolutely gutted! :(

Nice video just came across this. I'm the lucky owner of a C208 CLK 55 AMG and have it now for more than 12 years. It's been an absolute pleasure driving it and utterly reliable. The manual shifting or rather manually restricting up shift is adaptive. The automatic transmission in the AMG versions have Speed shift and adaption to the driver. It'll adjust in time to the way you drive. You'll be able to find details on how to reset the adaptation on RUclips. Reset the Shift computer will alter the shift response. I think these CLK's are very much under the radar but are a rare kind of coupé. You can cruise or drive like its stolen. The joy of driving, near bulletproof engine and gearbox, reliability and low maintenance cost offset the lurking rust monster at work. That's about the only gremlin, the rust issue.

How difficult and time consuming is it to unbolt that hood? Is there a special tool? I find it hard to believe the weight savings were worth the inconvenience. The car looks great though and I would consider buying one.

I love my XKRS and it’s V8 soundtrack. Turns everyone’s head when they see and hear it coming. But one thing I don’t like about it…is when it rains. I’ll say no more 😂
