Thanks so much! Very kind of you. Yes, you’ve got a good ear - I’ve looked at the orchestra score as well as the piano four hands as I made this.

@@Xendza _Le Sacre_ is one of my all-time favorite pieces of music and I'm familiar with many versions, including Jay Bacal's MIDI version with orchestral samples. I get that the texture of a live orchestra is like nothing else, but for me, Stravinsky's harmonies are extremely important and nothing catches the clarity of those wild octatonic progressions quite like his two-piano reduction to rehearse the ballet. It's not the final version of the score (Stravinsky went on revising the Rite up through the 40s), but the version recorded in '68 by Michael Tilson Thomas and Ralph Grierson is a treasured record of my high school years. The frequency response is a little clipped and it's not sonically gorgeous, but man, all the pieces fall together, including some moments of overdubbing suggested by Stravinsky. The Jussen bros' four-hand version is phenomenal musicianship, but to my ear, there were pieces missing. Which brings me to your version. Which, with a marimba, is like piano, fourteen fingers, LOL. But your arrangement, Ksenija, is really stellar. I sat there transfixed, hearing parts I hadn't heard (the polytonal ostinato at the beginning of Augurs), experiencing this arrangement like it was a self-contained piece, not wanting anything beyond what it was. Brava ! I've always dreamed of a serious, advanced rock band version of the Rite, without cheese. I tend to get into RUclips comment fights with people who've done cheesed up versions of the Rite, like taking snippets of themes and sticking them over a funk vamp, LOL. Or one uber-serious metal guitarist who did a metal version. I'm listening to the Augurs chord and going ... dude ... these are power chords. And he's all like super-indignant, no no no, this is a note-for-note rendering and I'm like, yeah, with a fuzz tone, LOL. You can't do big, dissonant polychords with fuzz. I'm an odd and shifting meter fanatic, and I like avant prog bands that write 12-tone music. Your magnificent rendering of a piano-marimba Rite gives me hope that a suitable arrangement can be made for a rock quartet.

@@Xendza And it's funny how the ballet scenario is pretty much irredeemable, LOL. Mystically informed pseudo-anthropology to gratify Parisians' sense of cultural superiority by leering at those filthy, pagan Russians. May as well have been called Misogyny: A Celebration. And yet, there's no denying the power and poignancy from that scenario woven into the music. You said in the trailer that you'd be in a percussion station banging on the tam tam during Ritual Action and sobbing. Without a shred of sentimental affectation, the music just sucks you along to the Sacrificial Dance, one of the most powerful climaxes in all of music.
