I can appreciate the allure of the climb for those who need the challenge and excitement. But such a high death rate even for very accomplished climbers points to almost a death wish for many. A sudden death is one thing. Fine, you are at peace with something you want to achieve. However, the truth is that your end will not be fast and painless, but slow and agonizingly difficult, taking hours or even days to happen. That is an odd way of spending your life. Of the hundreds who have perished in recent years, quickly name 10 who have lost their lives (unless you are inside the climbing community). Sorry for the rant.
