FFS, I hate AI! I wondered at one point if I had this video on a loop. I don’t need telling more than once about the importance of making sure you prioritise planning and support on the world’s highest mountain, particularly in the death zone where oxygen and air pressure are so low it becomes impossible to sustain human life. Why do these types of video repeat the same info over and over? To make room for more adverts and more opportunities to monitorise the content?
That said, the video really brought home what a dangerous idea it is to climb Everest without bottled oxygen. Most of the deaths were people who had made this risky decision. If you’ve climbed previous 8km peaks and truly know what to expect and how *your* body reacts to oxygen starvation, you’re in a much better position to assess the risk. But these were people climbing Everest for the first time!

I noticed the same thing. It seems so lazy that thru don't even have a human read the script to make sure that the words and information are correct. They have an AI write and read the script and the channel owner can't be bothered to read the script or even watch the video before publishing. Ridiculous

Another side of the same coin:
As a person who doesn't speak English, this AI voice is more understandable for me than some "Joe" or "Tommy" reading with a strong accent.
Fun fact: Is more easy understand a Indian national - fluent in English the language; speaking English than a British national, those talk with a potato in the mouth. 😁

@@traveloasis8389I doubt someone unable to read and write is going to manage to negotiate through RUclips and not just create a channel, but upload to it and then figure out how their AI program works. Anyone who was in that position would be better off in life if they put their energy into learning to read and write. Plus, how would they know if their narrative was even correct?

I don't think the people replying to you understand what you're saying but I do - someone dies in front of you on Everest, people literally climb over them and keep for the summit. Summit fever is disgusting. It makes people act like animals. That person who died in front of you could have easily been yourself. Everest reveals the monsters among men.

    • @ImNotHere222
      @ImNotHere222 Месяц назад

Also should mention how many sherpas lose their lives trying to recover the bodies of climbers who have tragically passed. About a third of all Everest deaths are sherpas. I have mad respect for the many climbers who don't summit because they don't feel well and decide not to push their luck, or even folks who just woke up on summit day with a "bad gut feeling" and deciding, against ALL of their being telling them to go to the summit, to instead stay put and prep for heading to lower camp. It's obviously impossible to say if they would have, without doubt, have passed away if they didn't change their mind, BUT we can say with certainty that they didn't needlessly put the lives of many sherpas and others at risk just because they went against better judgment to summit. Every rescue and every recovery operation endangers the lives of so many locals, and a massive majority of sherpa deaths occur when trying to recover a climber's body. Sometimes a sherpa dies trying to recover a climber, and another sherpa dies trying to recover either of those bodies, and then - after SEVERAL needless deaths - it is decided to forfeit the recovery attempt and let where they lie be their grave.

May they all rest in peace. It seems like most climbers are in a hurry to reach the top therefore some just likely take un necessary risks either when going up or coming down. Maybe there should be a limit each day on how many can start their ascent like in bunches of 30 or 35 and the next bunch have to wait till all those in that bunch come back to camp 4. It's just too crowded on some of those slopes it looks like.

They replied they do but use the ft.and inches in school.

The official height of Mount Everest is 29,031 feet and 7.5 inches (8,848.86 meters).
Mount Everest's elevation was most recently established in 2020 by a joint survey conducted by China and Nepal.
The new official height is 29,031 feet and 7.5 inches (8,848.86 meters), replacing the previous accepted height of 29,028 feet (8,848 meters).
This new measurement is the result of advanced surveying techniques using traditional leveling methods as well as global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).
There has been a long history of measuring and debating the exact height of Everest, with figures ranging from 29,002 feet to 29,035 feet over the past century and a half.
The height is measured from the rock height, not just the snow and ice cap on top. However, the snow depth is also measured and accounted for in the final figure.
I hope providing the height in feet and inches is helpful for you, given your background and where you live now. The metric system is commonly used for scientific measurements, but feet and inches are still widely used, especially for reporting on landmarks and geographic features.

Fewer than 500 climbing permits, resulting in 409 summits and 8 deaths in the 2024 climbing season. 80+ percent chance of summit, vs less than 2% chance of dying? It’s easy to see why those who have the means and the skill opt to do it. Even with the crowds at the top, it’s still a fairly exclusive club.

They need to discourage the inexperienced types who've not ever climbed at high altitude previously. Climbers should need to have summitted at least two 6,000m+ peaks before they qualify for an Everest climbing permit.
