    Truly an underrated channel based on subscriber count ..... sport pilot here. I have a Raven (kitfox clone) I need to build a cowl for and that's how I found you. It came with some abomination that looks like it came off a Fokker D.V11 (F) WW1 Plane lol. I am putting a HKS 700 on it and need to finish the cockpit and FWF ........ love your process. I also have a Rans S-12XL parts rig im rebuilding from parts but it came with a 912ULS Keep it up.

    Hi. Discovered your channel this evening. My S-21 TW kit is scheduled for June '24 delivery and of all the hundreds of build videos I've watched in prep to begin my project I dig yours the most. Clear, calm, concise and so many clever solutions. I plan to use the Rotax i916. Anyhow, thanks for sharing your build in video. I'll have it queued up as a reference out in the shop for my build for sure.

      Tim, I’m controlling this pump with a PDM from HardwireElectronics. I’ve since switched to Davies Craig pump since this one moved way too much water and was just heavier than I felt it should be.

    Are you using the stock ECU with a re-Map for the tune? IS your earth x lead/acid? I guess it is if you are mentioning "the vented model" I am going the Lithium variety which prefers to be in the cabin due to temps.

    • @Project2Aero
      @Project2Aero 4 месяца назад

      I know a lot of guys put the earth x batteries in the cabin but I moved my battery up front and ended up going with a gel cell. Earth x does have a vented version that can be put inside as it’s designed to vent overboard in the event of a thermal runaway. I just could not get comfy with having lithium in the plane with me.

      The top half is held on with the 4 latches in each corner. I left a spot in the center behind the vent holes to add a 5th latch if I see the cow lifting there at all but I really don’t think that it’ll be an issue since it’s really stiff..

    Not being early to the party worked out well for your tank filler idea, I like the look of your adaptation. I would still put the tank AD pieces in though, I like the idea of a solid backstop for the tank and you’ll prevent adding a horizontal load to the tank neck area. I mounted my wings alone also, with a drywall lift so I could take my sweet#@$ time. Looking good.

    I thought about using the #40 pilot dimpler, but with countersunk rivets, the hole carries no load so being a little oversize makes no difference and there is less change of cracking the skin as you aren’t stretching the metal as much around the larger size hole. Since the key thing is the size of the hole in the spar as you mentioned, I drilled my holes to 1/8” rather than #30. I then dimpled the skins and then I reamed the holes to #30. This has the advantage of using the standard dimple dies as their pilot fits in a 1/8” hole while minimizing the oversize due to dimpling since the additional 3.5 thousandth smaller hole stretches to just slightly more than #30 after dimpling. And reaming the holes to final size makes much more accurate holes than does drilling to #30. My rivets pulled great with none of the issues that many others have had. I did use my pneumatic rivet gun throughout.
