for the internet issue it looks like it runs off a 2.4 hrz connection. if your home internet is on a 5hz it might not work. if you got 2 connections try the 2.4 on your home internet

Even at 10 amps at 12 volts is still 120 watts so the diodes do very well to stay cool. Think how hot a 100 watt light bulb gets, too hot to touch! Your battery charger is now working better than when it was made :)

It is a mistake to believe that the Jura (like other "fully automatic machines") is fully automatic. You have to clean it, you have to refill it, pour out the water, etc. And fully automatic machines cannot distinguish between a latte and a cappuccino, because they do the same order of milk foam and espresso!

The Juras are suited to high quality medium roast arabica, coffees have changed recently where lavazza have started using cheaper beans and robusta blends. They do come out bitter but you can dial them in really well. Went from a Jura e8 to an Italian espresso machine and it is a world of a difference

Wow, that single shot must taste a bit nasty. That machine doses around 21 grams of coffee and that's probably a 20 gram shot. 1 - 1 ratio. That will put hair on your chest.

How did you get it to display the voltage? I have mine on 12v dc to test it... everything seems to work but it is only showing a counter and frequency. I have it hooked to the analog in and ground...

It's just a battery charger, indeed it is but you could make your work so much easier if you simply rip out the timer switch and either replace it with any high current timer or just have a main switch, no timing. Then replace those horrible outdated selenium rectifier with a silicone full bridge rectifier module which you can get for around $20 for a 200 amp module. Makes the job super easy and quick and more reliable. Old school tech is far superior than this modern day junk they force us to buy which is often inferior except for the diodes but they add way too many safety features so more dummer than dummer idiots can use them, that make modern battery chargers only fit for dolls houses in my opinion :)

I bought a Jura E8 and, to make a long story short, returned it after 10 days. I wasn't able to dial-in the combination of grind and strength settings to get a good cappuccino. The Jura's coffee was either weak or harsh and the milk foam/froth was just OK. Perhaps there is a secret to dialing in the Jura, but I didn't find it and decided to give up and return it while I could. I then bought the Oracle Jet and dialing it in was a breeze. The coffee and milk foam it produces is delicious. We're very happy with the purchase, and it was less expensive than the Jura. It is our first espresso machine and we couldn't be happier, even though it is not fully automatic. Using it is easy and various setting are customizable if you want to make your own modifications. Loved your review! I have a quick question: if you are preparing 4-5 coffees, do you need to wait a long time between coffees, or is it straight away? It will usually just be 2 (wifey and me), but sometimes we'll have some family over and they ask for coffee, so we need to keep them happy... Thanks!

I have a Jura Z10 which is way more expensive and it’s still awful. I think the reason is that Jura like all full automatic machines has just a brewing pressure of 3bar. Espresso is always bitter and bad extracted. The only thing which is great is the milk. Will change to Ninja or Sage as soon as it comes out here.

Great review! My partner and I currently have the Barista Touch, which we love - bought it new about 4 years ago, and not a single issue with it. We did purchase a Breville Smart Grinder Pro to always have 2 different beans available without a hassle. We keep the baseline Lavazza Super Crema in the machine, and the special beans (currently Jamaican Blue Mountain/Clifton Mount Estate Medium) in the Grinder Pro. I'm curious what you would think about the Lavazza Super Crema bean...?

I have my eye on this machine as a replacement for my Capresso [Jura] 1000 which I bought for US$1,000 in 1997. That wonderful Capresso (about the same size as the Breville Oracle Jet) is still working almost as well as when it was new. We do have great water in Boulder, Colorado, plus I have a water filter at my sink. So the machine gets nice water with few minerals. But the 25 year old machine has never produced the quality of foam that I saw both of you make with the Breville. That is very impressive. I brewed coffee and steamed milk in a Jura Z10 (about US$3800) a month ago, and I was not impressed enough to think of spending that kind of money. Thank you both for the demonstration.

This just became available at my local Crate & Barrel, and I think I’ll save up for it. I was interested in the Barista Touch but the screen looked very dated, and this refresh + upgrade is just what I was looking for. Have you tried using the “cold brew” feature?
