Hi Pete, thanks for supporting the channel. The password protected cells are not to be completed and are locked to protect the formula's being changed. The cells you need to input in are not protected and can be filled. The video shows you step by step which bits to complete. Hope that helps, Shan

@@everythinghome I found the video skips the sections for electricity consumption daily average. I also don’t have peak / off peak. Only a total. It’s the total that’s blocked and even the peak off peak doesn’t auto calc sadly.

That's because the off peak and peak are important for making sense of which tariff is best for you. The peak and off peak won't auto calc because you need to enter those in. I would suggest seeing if you can estimate your off peak and peak consumption and enter these in to give you some meaningful outputs on the get results sheet. The more you can load shift to the off peak slot the higher your total year saving will be. Shan

I’ve copied yours but it still doesn’t calculate them. My system is not installed yet and I have to use old numbers as only just moved into the property. But the spread sheet doesn’t allow me to calc along row 19 even if 17 and 18 are filled

That's a pretty good average on agile. Do you have an EV? I suspect this is what really opens things up to unlocking those super low averages. We're averaging just over 7p per kWh on E.On's next drive V5

Yup, it's definitely no match for next drive V5. But I suppose for those without an EV this will be the only option for them so useful to see how it stacks up against the likes of Flux

@@everythinghome At least on the confirmation email I got when I signed up for V5, it said that *either* an EV *or* a battery system was OK (although I didn't see that mentioned anywhere on the website). I have to say that I found it particularly difficult to get detailed information on the Drive tariff from their website. They seemed to hide the Ts & Cs away from sight as much as possible.

That's good, as long as you've got something in writing. I doubt they'll check anyway, but you never know. From what I understand now that the solar boost tariff is out, next drive will be EV owners only. Users without an EV will not be able to renew the EV tariff without an EV at the end of the 12month contract. Octopus have been known to ask for the registration of the EV and to check it online.

Yes, I was on it previously. The off peak rate is higher than E.On next drive. And I'm comparing solar and battery tariffs mainly here

I live in the north east as well and have 5.12kw panels and just upgraded to 20kwh battery. We have 2 ev cars as well. Currently on octopus go and charge between 12.30 and 5:30 that gives me 85% on the battery. That lasts most of the day in winter. Will be interesting to see how it works when there is a lot more sun…

Good to hear from another Northerner Chris. Octopus Go is 8.5p per kWh off peak. We couldn't access intelligent Octopus Go because we don't have the right charger. It would have cost quite a bit to get one installed and the E.On off peak rate is cheaper and for more hours - 7 hours. Go is an EV tariff. This video is about those who don’t have an EV (solar and battery only) Some customers lie to say they have an EV to get the tariff, but if they are going to do that they might as well stay with the much more competitive EOn Next Drive. Although by doing either Next drive or Go without an EV you are breaching the contract.

Yup, same - it's certainly what the numbers suggest. However, once E.On shut the door to V5 if you don't have an EV this will be an interesting match up to consider

​@@everythinghomeI have a heat pump as well which means I can also use octopus cozy, I think this would be far better than solar boost with it's 4-7am and 1-4pm, but considering we are moving into summer I think standing charge is now more important hence I've moved to tomato energy and charge the battery 8 hours per day (overnight and 9:30 - 11:30 top-up)

Thanks David - that's right. I suspect most domestic set ups won't have anywhere near that much, so it'll only be a small number of people that the 15 kWp limit holds back. Thanks for contributing to the discussion

Yes next drive is an import tariff which can be combined with next exclusive V2 export tariff at 16.5p per kWh. You can join next drive with an EV, solar and home battery. But they've just today started quoting for next solar boost so I suspect without an EV they may stop people joining next drive V5. Hope that helps, Shan

@everythinghome You wouldn't walk too far at the moment matey...lots of ice under slush. Trust me going arse over tit in that is not recommended. Save any visits till the summer...that's the time to enjoy the nature. You would love 😍 it...I left in 81 and never looked back. Cheers Tony

Answering my own questions here , I see it’s a separate scheme but seems like they wouldn’t accept us because our storage is too large but it’s only 24kwh .

Export is via next export exclusive V2 which you can sign up for via their online form. It's currently 16.5p per kWh of export 👍🏽

They don't routinely check and they've even said themselves you can sign up without an EV until the new solar and battery tariff is released 👍🏽

Thanks. Exciting times ahead and a good amount of battery storage. I sized my battery to keep us going through the peak period. So about 1.2x peak kWh. If your install is imminent could you sign up to the next drive V5 so you have your foot in the door just incase it all changes. All the best with the install, Shan

Thanks Dave - yes I'm sure it'll be soon though. Competition is definitely a good thing here. Haha, good question - we use everything we can in the off peak period which because it is 7 hours helps us get through off peak to off peak. We also have 8.31 kWp of solar which helps keep the battery topped up till about 3pm; although on some days you wouldn't know we had solar! ⛈

Nice, if I recall correctly it can take up to 6 weeks for the export MPAN to be sorted. I think mine took a couple of weeks though, also with Octopus at the time. It's definitely worth being aware of all the options available all the best with your new set up.
