    10 panels for £4300 ? - they saw you coming. - The biggest problem with givenergy is battery output to the house being a bit low. you still end up taking from the grid even though your battery is full.

    It’s a very specific comparison, especially the standing charges being so high and ultimately highlights why picking the right kit is important, a zappi charger ensures access to IOG and great rates.

    • @everythinghome
      @everythinghome 14 дней назад

      I disagree - spending up to £1000 to have a specific charger installed just so I can access a tariff which could change its rates or T&Cs at any time doesn't make sense to me as I can achieve what I need to with a granny charger or our existing dumb fast charger. Of course, if you need a charger then as you say it makes sense to chose one that fits the bill

    • @alexwebber2612
      @alexwebber2612 14 дней назад

      @@everythinghome Zappi 2 are approx £650 vs £350 for generic dumb chargers. Fitting I suspect is very similar cost for both. So £300 difference which opens up a lot more choices of intelligent tariffs and allows worry free car selection later on (with smart charger your cars don’t need to be supplier compatible) If you have dumb charger then you’re right it works, but locks you out of that 7p tariff for 6 hours. I feel that octopus have done far more to further lower bills than the legacy suppliers and they are just as capable of altering T&Cs. Jumping ship now for pence seems a little disingenuous. Plus the customer service is far superior to the legacy suppliers I’ve used before.

    • @everythinghome
      @everythinghome 14 дней назад

      Thanks for the figures. I do agree in part with what you're saying about chargers. But it isn't pence, and come October 2024 Octopus will have increased the peak rate, standing charge and dropped the export rate of most of their smart tariffs. Octopus are a fantastic energy company, absolutely no doubting that, but after April's, July's and October's non-favourable electric tariff changes I've parted ways for now. Shan

    Hi Shan. Just a thought about the SEG. Your data shows that you benefit from staying with E.On I’ve also got panels, EV and battery. During the dull winter months I doubt that I’d be exporting much at all (although I am I high importer due to my power hungry always on cooker) So… did you take the Tomato Lifestyle 9:30 to 11:30 battery boost opportunity into account for the September to March time period? I guess that if your panels and batteries get you through the whole day on low rate it doesn’t matter, but I’ve found the quick top up option is very useful (and I have over 6kwh solar and 17kwh storage) PS I’m on FIT deemed export for 50% of my panels. So am getting no export on the other array.

      Apologies, only seen this now. Yes, out 8.2 kWh battery gets us through the whole peak period. Only a few days may we run out, usually Christmas Day! I can imagine those 2 periods during the day on the TE lifestyle tariff are a useful boost for most 👍🏽

    @BarryHaegerSalesCoach 18 дней назад

    Seriously evaluating the lifestyle tariff as I've solar,a 10 kWh battery and ASHP. Topping up the battery during the day and allowing the ASHP to keep ticking over all day is ideal as the battery is soon exhausted after the overnight charge on Octopus Intelligent Go in winter. The battery in effect extends each off-peak period by an extra hour or two (depending on weather conditions and ASHP running). However, I also have a monthly allocation from Ripple wind farm paid as a discount off Octopus electricity useage which I'd use and the 15p/kWh export which complcates things

    Great by video, I think I am sticking with eon next drive. This video really helped, the 16.5p export works for me, managed to update details to get money transferred into my bank in Sept for export upon request and was a month and a half import cost. Also the 7 hours cheap electric allows me to get up early to do washing and tumble dryer if I forget to set timer the night before and running our EVs is cheap . I do think about Octopus Agile again but means checking rates daily to when best to charge the car, I was on that before and bills were low as long as you monitor rates everyday. ❤

      Hi Pete - Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on this video. Glad you found it useful. Sounds very similar to us. As you say the export with E.On at 16.5p per kWh fixed for 12m is hard to beat. That coupled with the 7 hours of off peak electricity means we can set things before we go to bed or wake early and use things before 7am. The opportunities are endless. I do like the set and forget aspect of it, I definitely don't miss Agile at all apart from occasionally when the prices go negative! 😅 If you’ve not already, please do like this video, stay tuned for some more content and thanks for taking the time to contribute to the discussion on this video 🙂

    I’m so glad you have featured this deal. I switched two weeks ago and had no problem with the switch or Mywatts energy monitoring app. They have a uk call centre. The 5p off peak is going to come in handy when I get my heat pump installed.

    I had a quick look at Tomato Energy yesterday after seeing them mentioned on another video. As you highlight, no export/SEG payment so this would be a big drawback for me. I was interested in the Tomato Agile tariff as I’m on Octopus Agile but details are very scant, just example daily prices and no price history or way that I could find to see what today’s rates are to compare, and not clear whether there is an API for daily price rates as Octopus have. Without enough information I just couldn’t switch to them.

      Export is coming.

    • @everythinghome
      @everythinghome 19 дней назад

      Yup absolutely - the no export option is the sticking point for me. They're certainly less polished than Octopus but it's probably harsh to compare the two. It'll be interesting to see how they and their new customers go over the winter...

    I've used Waxoyl on my cars and bikes for years. I made the mistake of using the black waxoyl last year as Halfords didn't have any of the clear(brownish) original. Only a true enthusiast will do this job on a car, it's not the nicest of jobs, so hats off to you. I think the Waxoyl and the Lanoguard achieve about the same result. It also peels off after a year or so of all weather use. I'm going to give the Lanoguard a go this year, before the weather gets much worse. Thanks for the vid.

Sorry you're struggling, it may be worth watching the video again and checking you've not entered in any wrong data or left any cells empty. The protected cells are there to protect the formulas so they don't accidentally get changed. I'm currently in the market and checking out different tariffs and suppliers. The biggest con is the standing charge. It should be the same across the board. Or simply tied into the rate. If you have a small battery any savings is wiped out by the standing charge and its almost impossible to get to net £0 .

      @@everythinghome Hi I've given a like 🙂. I have had a few quotes for solar and one was from Contact Solar an EDF partner and I was told that EDF are planning to bring in a solar plan with zero standing charge. The fact that we are all tied to the grid and the national grid is national it really should be the same standing charge in all areas, after all we all pay income tax at the same basic rate and I would say electricity is a necessity. The fact that different energy providers have different standing charges tells me it's not for grid up keep but just easy money 💰. I have narrowed down my preferred manufacturer to be sunsynk or fox. Fox has lower start up voltage and higher voltage batteries. Sunsynk has slightly cheaper quotes. I like the look of the givenergy all in one but the cost of the unit and the cost of future expansion doesn't make financial sence . I've only recently found you channel so hopefully I'll find a video on the different manufacturers.
