After watching your tutorials I managed to do the octo-assembler and then the 16 and 24 with two and three stacks of those. This design is really great for me. Now I need to revisit my octo-constructor, because my own attempt did not make it possible to include the output of the backrow. Thank you so much.
"O god ono there go's the weekend" 🤣 imo the best way to describe satisfactory in a single sentence.
Awesome. Subscribed
I've really been loving this idea, and it inspired me to replay the game. I've been using the Infinite nudge mod, and the no clearance mod so that I can make machines overlap. It's so much fun coming up with new idea's for smooshing all the machines together without the animations clipping so that the entire thing looks like one GIANT machine with dozens of inputs. I feel this is the way satisfactory was meant to be played now that we have blueprints. Factorio has horizontal manifolds, Satisfactory has Vertical. Gotta use the 3D world to the fullest <3
Make a playthrough!
Id have to watch materials moving through this system to understand what is happening. This looks like clipping chaos
You can download the blueprints to study them, and I explain my approach to clipping in the compact techniques tutorial. I am leaving space for all moving parts.
great stuff
i would love to know where you stream, because this is exactly the type of content i need in my life :D
Probably youtube for now, just for convenience. I'll make a post when I'm figuring that stuff out.
@@excrubulent Great, I'll be looking forward to that
I love how compact you keep making these setups! And now I want a way to set the recipes for all of them as part of placing the blueprint. Or even just have what amounts to a modded switch where you isolate the setup and set the recipe for everything inside it.
It's very simple to do that in the blueprint designer, you just need to create a new blueprint for every recipe. I do that for the smelters & foundries because there's only a few recipes for them. If you have a bunch of the same recipe you intend to place down it may be worth doing, but I generally don't.
@@excrubulent When I say as part of placing the blueprint, I mean more like a UI that pops up and lets you choose the recipe and apply it to all the buildings in the blueprint, not actually saving the recipe in the blueprint. I can and do use individual blueprints with recipes for smelters and foundries, but it's not at all practical to do that for almost anything else really.
@Jauntie_J Yeah, that would be nice.
Welcome back. I hope you're feeling better. Great video.
wonderful work! Well done. Loved the tutorial
YES! Feed me more! After two years of having Satisfactory collecting dust in my steam library because I was scared of the game. I need this knowledge in my life, it tickles my brain 🧠
28:16 Most games *should* override the global setting and disable mouse acceleration for smoother camera movement within the application, especially ones that use a first-person camera,.This might be worthy of a bug report to Coffee Stain if it is not being disabled.
I love the borg aesthetic so much, thank you for doing another one of these.
This was mind-blowing. Kudos for figuring all of that out, and high five for an entertaining video!
I normally dont get motion sick when playing for watching Satisfatory yet this is making me queasy. Maybe installing a 3rd person camera is best. Ta!
Noted, I'm aware it's still a lot of motion. I'm looking into maybe a mouse smoothing AHK script.
What is that monster of a factory?
I spent ages building up a bunch of empty factory floors so I'd have room to expand into as the factory grew. It's mostly empty space for now, but the plan is to fill it :)
98% amazing. Another 2% of amazing would go to you if you had color-coded the input threads 1&2 and output threads to see them weaving through one another.
That would be a good addition, I'll try to remember that one of these days. Someone - not sure if it was you - mentioned this in a previous video and I agree it would make it clearer. There's so much to consider making one of these it just slipped my mind.
I love that you subscribe to the flying rail school of railway design. So many players plaster the world with concrete rail beds that look horrible.
Yeah, I've noticed exactly the same thing! There's nothing wrong with it on its own, but I think the reason people do it is that they don't have - or don't know that they have - the tools to control curvature without locking everything down to a grid. Hopefully the next video will help fix that and free people from the grid.
Jesus Christ dude I managed to get 4x and just left it at that. I would not have guessed six was actually possible.
I seem to recall ages ago someone mentioned to me that you could fit this many in the blueprint designer, and at the time I rejected it out of hand as impossible to properly supply. Now with these new techniques I've learned, it's completely different.
I was wondering why it took so long lol
Bravo good Sir, you are revolutionizing shoving an entire factory into a closet!
That is the best description so far I've heard! 😂
What kind of maniac discriminates based on cowling length??? All cowlings; whether long, short, corrugated, extruded, regardless of material composition are beautiful.
I really should've said that myself on reflection. It needs to be said.
Could you do a video on the launcher system?
Damn. I was able to just get a quad going on my own using those principles. (Same with a Foundry) Now I have this to look forward to hacking away at!
3:53 hex foundry spotted :o
*I love this, there's so much detail, but so much information that it's so complicated to follow* 😥
Gotta get out there and experment try a few setups a few dozen times yourself and you'll get this...
I'd also recommend downloading the blueprints and studying them if you're confused. If I took the time to show every detail the video would be extremely long, so I abbreviate some things. Also the other videos in this series will help you get familiar with the methods I'm using.
BTW, who says @excrubulent can't count??? I mean, besides hisself... "Wow", indeed!!!! Great ending!
Listen, the hype IS real. ❤❤❤ Think about how much time and effort went into producing this video. Then take into consideration how tight everything is and still looks amazing, well as amazing as a box can look. I understand all of the techniques you have shown us, but I tried to do this and gave up frustrated. BTW, I kinda feel you owe me a weeks worth of pulling my hair out back...if you hadn't sorta promised a stream. I hope you stream on RUclips and save it to your live tab. That way, if I miss it, I can at least watch the footage. Plus, I avoid Twitch whenever possible, blame GenericB...
Yeah that's the plan for now. I don't have a schedule yet but I'm figuring it out.
another satisfactory yapp session, what a great start into my weekend
Love the video. Going to have to watch it again when I get home tonight. I really appreciate you showing your method. It will help me some more on my future builds. I never thought of using the beams to box in the animation zone.
ITS HERE, ITS HERE, ITS HERE!!!!
The fact that people are legit hyped about this is unreal to me, I'll be honest.
This is really helpfull!!! I would really like you to do more tips. You got a new fan !
Really excellent tutorial here, fantastic job! I feel like even when you weren't explaining something in particular you still highlighted features I didn't know about, like using the quick search as a calculator. It's been a hot minute since I've played and the 1.0 update brought me back, so I'm excited to build up a blueprint library again!
I found these tips very inspiring and I'm slowly getting used to building more compact lines, or at least trying to. I'm getting there, but I'm having an issue where when I place my blueprints, some lifts aren't properly connecting when they look fine visually. They are mostly offset connections with short distances like 1 m or 0.5 m (I'm not yet using anything fully clipped). I end up having to rebuild a lot of lifts because parts get stuck in their machines or aren't being fed in. I'm listening for the snap chime when I make the blueprints but some lifts just aren't working when I use those blueprints. How can I solve this?
This exact issue is answered by my next video: ruclips.net/video/rQ-NTWPsniU/видео.html I'm glad you're finding them helpful!
I'll be honest, this is a silly argument. Who, realistically, will use even a fraction of the possible variations? creating blueprints for the most common 5 or even 10 variations is totally acceptable.
I build like this all the time and I couldn't tell you which combinations are the most common. I've got another video about to come out, and I'd be fascinated if you could look at that one and tell me which stacks I reused, even one time.
thank god i found this.. just like you said, once you get used to the 'grammar,' it becomes easier to understand and create the snaps the way i want.. tysm
don't know if anyone pointed it out yet, but with your 1200 machine ... you don't have the perfect split anymore you have 5 floors and the first splitter delivers to the lower 3 for 720 and the upper 2 for 480 while the splitter tries out the 600 to 600 no hickup with the belt, just bad balanced. thanks for all these explanations and the great ideas
Yeah, that's definitely the reason I had that issue. It won't be a perfect split any more, but it's balanced enough that they still start up reasonably fast. There'll be a few little hiccups, the underserved machines will pause once or twice then the belts will catch up.
@@excrubulent you could feed the upper 2 levels together with a mk4 belt, that would be perfect 480
@irushiro2119 Good solution :)
Great video! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the hiccup was because the 40-smelter is not balanced anymore. The input splitter splits the load towards 24 and 16 smelters
Very Cool stuff! I don't know what happened, but since yesterday I can't build an octosmelter any more as shown in the video, as the second conveyor belt in a stack of three splitters won't snap any more, even if I occupy the other input/output. Or maybe I am doing something or wrong, but I triple checked the correct conveyor lift direction connection inputs to outputs and so. Drives me crazy, that was such a nice technique.
Yeah, sometimes they just won't snap, and you need to remove some of the nearby connections and have a slightly less busy environment. I don't fully understand why it happens, I'm sorry.
I'm definitely using some of these techniques in my own building from now on. Also, having spent probably a hundred+ hours on balancers in Factorio, I am intensely curious about the balancers you show at 22:30.
Aha! Figured them out, and they're definitely in line with the rest of this video. It would defintely be nice if there was a texture to make the lifts look a little better with the splitters and mergers.
Nice work! Definitely plan to eventually make a video on them anyway.
@13:34 -- The "shame" lift is actually kind of nice if you have to belt something extremely high vertically, beyond the conveyor max length.
For an 'illegal height' simply start at the TOP, you can stretch it DOWN an unlimited distance!
@@ZigamusRainbowWizard I swear. 300 hours into this game and still learning things I should have known in the first. Thanks for this!!
Uhhhh what? That's amazing. Also as mentioned on screen, you can do a similar trick with conveyor lift floor holes to extend their height. Another benefit to them is you can snap both ends of the lift because you can build from the middle.
If you start at the ground and raise it into a conveyor belt hole, it'll extend to the height limit of the world.
BRO, you are SMART, this is the BEST satisfactory content I have seen on youtube ! I rarely comment videos but for real, thank you !
We have crouch sliding for a reason tho
lost... for daaaays 🧟♂
I really appreciate the vast range of creative ability in this game 🤯
"Let's Game it Out" on those cursed lifts 🤣
Nobody tell him.
Thank you for sharing! I love your clean and compact design. I have already recreated it. Once you get the hang of combining the splitters and merges with the snapped in conveyer lifts its fun. I already adapted your technique to a 8x Foundry blueprint in the 5x5 blueprint designer. Almost as clean but as compact and functional as your smelter design. Thanks again for your inspiration!!!
Could you do a video on compact chainable storage? I've been working on some designs for storage with dimensional depots (mine are currently hidden so they could be optional as well), but I'm realizing now from this video that I could have made it so much better by using some techniques. I'd be really curious to see a ground up approach from someone like you. Keep up the great Satisfactory content!
I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what you mean by compact chainable storage, how would it chain exactly? I'd be interested to investigate if you had some more details.
@@excrubulent Sorry I think i meant tileable? Basically I just wanted a nice blueprint that I can stack next to each other with 3? 5? however many unique item containers can fit / blueprint.
@@grantwilliams630 Oh yeah, gotcha. I do have one of those, I'll consider it :)
