Mexican Independence: A Brief History of Father Hidalgo and the 1810-21 War of Independence 🇲🇽
Mexican Independence and the September 16 Grito de Dolores is one of the most important moments in Mexican History.
This is a very important, but quick lecture on Mexican Independence…..
And when studying Mexican History, you should know the main players in the 1810-1821 Mexican Independence movement… like
Agustin de Iturbide….1st Emperor.
Vicente Guerrero …. A Military Leader.
Dona Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez…La Corregidora.
Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon.
Hermenegildo Galeana….Mexican soldier.
Leona Vicaria … who supported many facets of Independence.
Igancio Allende……. A famed military leader.
And the most famous patriot: Father Miguel Hidalgo.

    Hi! I'm a student in Australia doing a major work on Teotihuacan, may I ask where you where I might find the original image of the fresco in 7:15-7:50 :) And also, do you have an interpretation of the yellow circles coming from the central green figure's head? Thank you so much, this is such a helpful video!!!

    • @ProfessorEstradaPhD
      @ProfessorEstradaPhD 13 дней назад

      Hi.... thanks for your comment...... I'm not sure where you can find the original besides at Teotihuacan.... it's at the Tentitla apartments..... if I remember correctly, right underneath the "great goddess." Take a look at this: collections.peabody.harvard.edu/objects/details/104754

      not sure which figure you are talking about... but if it's by their head, it's earspools... several figures in Teotihuacan are wearing them (they are quite common)

    One historian called Tenochtitlan a "Beautiful Parasite." Beautiful because it was artistically, culturaly etc. but a parasite because of the yoke it placed on the Mesoamerican world from the Totonac(Gulf Coast) to the Mixtec(Pacific)all payed tribute to Tenochtitlan and so much blood was shed on the temple tops of the Mexica. Their is a reason many native peoples allied with the Spanish destroy Tenochtitlan. However I wish it would have servived. Hernan Cortes himself wanted to keep it in prestine condition and bring the King of Spain to come see it. The Venice of the Americas, could you imagine its beauty!

    • @ProfessorEstradaPhD
      @ProfessorEstradaPhD 13 дней назад

      I understand what you wrote here... but the amount of "blood" and sacrifices have been it greatly exaggerated. It's highly like old world groups like the Romans ritualistically killed more people than Mesoamerican groups like the Aztecs ever did

      @@ProfessorEstradaPhD Interesting. "El Lienzo de Tlaxcala es un códice colonial tlaxcalteca, producido en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI, a petición del cabildo de la ciudad de Tlaxcala. De acuerdo con la información que se conoce acerca del documento, fueron producidas tres copias, una de las cuales sería enviada a España como presente para el rey Carlos I; la segunda copia habría sido llevada a la Ciudad de México para entregarla al virrey y la última sería resguardada por el arca del cabildo tlaxcalteca. Por desgracia, estas tres copias están perdidas y el Lienzo se conoce únicamente a través de una reproducción realizada en 1773 por Manuel de Ylláñez1 sobre el original que poseía todavía en el siglo XVIII el cabildo de Tlaxcala. Este lienzo ha sido considerado desde siempre como una muestra muy primaria del que después sería considerado como Noveno Arte y con el que guarda similitudes expresivas y narrativas." So, what were the Tlaxcaltecas' complains?

      It's a great question, I often get from my students. It's hard to imagine, but there wasn't a lot to do at night at with no artificial light, the sky 🌌 was vivid and amazing. What else is there to do but track the planets and figure out your own existence in the universe.... they looked to the star for meaning.... and they found themselves in the stars This video might also help: The Four Phases of the Venus Cycle within the Maya Codex of Mexico (Codice Maya). ruclips.net/video/mX69xWnp8AA/видео.html
