Very “Will Smith” like behavior by Phil Nevin. After the game on Saturday he’s yelling at the Mariners staff from the dugout about the pitch that almost hit Trout - long after the fact. It’s like he saw how upset Trout was and felt he had to react. He stews about it all night and starts todays game with an “opener” (something the Angels rarely do) with the intention of giving the Mariners a proverbial slap. It was ridiculous and makes the team look petty and weak. I’m just not convinced the Mariners we’re trying to hit Trout at the bottom of the 9th with a 2 run lead during a game with relatively little tension. Doesn’t stand to reason.
Of course the Angels gonna act like the victims when they drilled Upton in the head last week, threw at Julio first pitch, then threw at Winker first pitch. Not to mention they switched out the starting pitcher morning of this game. They came into this game wanting to start trouble lmao
Moron Mariners initiated with yesterdays plunks. Angels hit him intentionally but really the blame is on the umps for not throwing out the Angels pitcher after the first near hit.
This falls squarely on Phil Nevin. It was all a major over reaction to Trout almost getting hit in the head last night. Yes, they were throwing him high and inside and one got away and almost hit him. No, I don’t believe it was intentional. There was no tension during this game or the previous 7 games with these two teams - even after Upton (now a Mariner) was pegged in the head. It was just baseball and they were concerned Trout was going to bring in a go ahead run so they threw him junk. In fact, they just decided to intentionally walk Trout after the second pitch almost hit him. If you watched the Erica Westin interview with Trout after the game you can see his panties were all in a bunch but even he said he didn’t know if it was on purpose. I’m all ok with protecting your team, but this was garbage behavior instigated by Phil Nevin who has far too much to prove.
No. It falls on the Mariners for a blatantly intentional throw at his head yesterday and on the umpires for not throwing out the Angels started after the first warning. Yes, it was intentional today but that’s also standard MLB practice. It’s tradition. But really, the umpires screwed up on this one.
@@smalltowndowntown9199 I hear you and I would agree. I just don’t believe this was the case last night with Trout. Guys sometimes get hit in the head. Did you see last week when Upton got smacked in the head?
@@smalltowndowntown9199 yeah, the umpires should have done more today in the first inning. Nevin should have also left well enough alone and let the first inning serve as a warning to the Mariners. To continue on and then actually hit Winker was not needed.
@@joseallende8046 yeah but Trout is used to it and even he was convinced it was intentional. I think the players know and he’s been around long enough and hit enough to know if the release is off on a pitch or if it was intentional.
@@smalltowndowntown9199 I couldn't really make out a winner in a big brawl maybe the camera caught a good angle of a angels players punching a seattle player but I wouldn't say they obviously beat them up lol... And fyi I'm not a fan of either team.
This really doesn't have anything to do with the pitch to Trout yesterday. The Angels royally blew it again this season with a team of superstars. Now Nevin needs to find a way to fire up his team and help the team save face so he can maybe have a job next season. He used a mundane inside pitch from yesterday (that hit no one) as the opportunity. He purposely started a pitcher he had no intention of using other than to throw at someone b/c it wouldn't hurt when that guy got ejected. Boorish bullshit like this will continue because the commissioners office has no interest in fixing it - apparently not understanding that star players can get injured during these embarrassing displays which ultimately hurts the group all sides routinely ignore - their customers. Hopefully it goes as well for Nevin this year as it did last when the A's Cole Irvin suggested the Mariners didn't belong in the majors then went 0-5 to them the rest of the season while the M's almost won out vs the A's that season including a 10-game win streak.
Uh no. It is 100% because of the pitching yesterday. Yes, they hit the Mariners on purpose today but not because some bizarre rationale you’re trying to make up. Admittedly, part of the motivation might have been to light a fire under the Angels but they aren’t going to purposely put their players at risk because “wE’re MaD we’Re lOsinG nOW” durp logic you’re trying to use.
@@smalltowndowntown9199 if you say it’s cause the pitch from yesterday why the hell would you try and hit someone with one on and the winning run coming up in Ohtani? Your logic is flawed too man!
