I really miss embroidery in lolita fashion. I've been collecting embroidered and appliqued pieces from Baby for years, mostly skirts. Another big change from the book to the movie is that in the book the photoshoot for the embroidered dress is at least a week before Ichigo's biker challenge, and she even goes with Momoko to deliver the dress and gets roped into modeling it when the real model shows up with injured eyes. I kinda like how the movie made Momoko have to choose between clothes and Ichigo, though.

Thanks for your input everyone! I've decided for now I will try to sell the dress on and if not, then maybe I'll think more about altering it. I'm feeling less upset about the whole situation now.

This is a great entertaining video 👍 Also i want to share a interesting fact with the two songs (Band Mo Brand and OGL), so the producer of those songs was actually Yoav Landau (from The Living Tombstone/Koolfox), the same person who made the Remix of Throw it in a bag. Honestly cool that MC Melody Doll decided to contact Yoav if he's down to making the instrumentals for those songs because of a remix he made.

If this was me, I honestly would consider altering it - but I'm pretty sure I'd still end up selling it because thinking about the fit would always just frustrate the fuck outta me. I don't own this piece but I was eyeing it off at the time wondering what the fit would be like, I really wish they'd consulted with or used a plus size fit model. Half the issue seems to be that the bodice is still cut for a much smaller cup size so they intend it to sit higher on the chest. An option maybe for the top is adding a satin ribbon for a shirring channel across the top of the bodice and running elastic through that to help pull the shoulders in a bit?

If you're going to alter it, I don't think it's out of the question to ask for a partial refund. Sleep on it. Then if the dress isn't worth altering, list it and let it go

thats such a shame and so frustrating to spend that much and then have to alter it into something else in order to make it work :( personally id also probably sell it unless i was obsessed with the print like hopeofdawn said glad you did this video and shared it despite the sadness, i hope you have happy and wonderful times in the new year!

As @hopeofdawn said, unless I was 100% in love with the print, it is just not worth the time, energy and frustration of having to get it altered. It is so frustrating when something is technically your measurements but a design flaw ruins a dress. Like does the dress fit, yes. But am I actually comfortable in it and feel good about the fit, no :( For similar reasons, I have stopped buying blouses online since my wide biceps and shoulders ruin like 95% of all blouse purchases and now have to try them on IRL before I commit to buying one. The struggle is so real and I really wish the industry would keep those important classes to learn how to pattern for plus size bodies considering we are such a large portion of the population in North America!

To be honest, for me I think the deciding factor would come down to a) how much I love the print/fabric itself, and b) how much I would resent the dress even if I had it altered. If I absolutely capital letter loved the print and wanted a dress made out of it no matter what, and wouldn't resent the extra effort/money I'd have to spend into fixing it, I'd probably have it altered. If I knew that every time I looked at the dress I'd get angry all over again because it wasn't what I wanted (and paid $300 for!) - then I'd sell it. I'm so sorry the dress was disappointing!

The hotel bathroom situations sound like someone had a nightmare and made it real, hard to believe these designers have been inside one before! Also really cool novelty for AP, novelty items in general are fascinating to me. I tend to lean towards the plates and cups but the nail kit sounds very unique My group didn't end up going to the after party so it's nice to have the insight of someone who did, unfortunate that it was more of a free for all Also glad to hear that you had a good experience with the food! I got the specialty menu and it was definitely better than previous, the food was edible and inoffensive which seems to be a pretty good situation Ursa major was one that I was surprised to hear about (my wallet also needed a rest), hoping to go next year and excited for all the lolita events popping up

I also went to kei con! i'm local though so i didnt realize how much of a hassle getting rooms near the venue was since i just bussed over ^^; Rae really is a godsend though we have her to thank for all the cool af local events i'm really hoping she's able to host the con again ive been all three times and it's been so so fun ^^

I used to buy CDs from Kinokuniya in the 90s and early 00s. I did keep the CDs after I ripped them. It was expensive but not as expensive as buying them from cons!

Thank you for this report, I enjoyed it so much. Honestly the struggle to find a regular afternoon tea place that can accommodate a vegan spread that is on par with the meat spread is REAL so I was surprised that it is even hard with special catering. I would have imagined that with a catering business they could make a bigger effort. The substitute is... not the same, to put it mildly.

Very fun to follow along someone else's experience for tekko, I agree with you about the physical map or schedule being preferred, they even had print rooms so maybe if it was something where you would have to go and pick up a physical copy if you so choose that would have been preferred for me. I also agree that Taobao for me with the fees, time spent , and all that ends up not being as worth it I can share that for the tea party, there were no food accommodations. I bought my tea party ticket the day the tea party was announced and listed that I'm vegetarian and lactose intolerant and was with friends who were also lactose intolerant. I was so concerned leading up that i ended up reaching out to staff beforehand to see if it was possible to get more information on dietary stuff and they said not to worry about it. The Westin was supposed to have options but decided not to for whatever reason, they westin staff kept thinking we were gluten free so we kept having to say no its dairy. Two hours or so into the event, after everyone was done and people were starting to disperse, we got a gluten free dairy free muffin that I'm told was very dry and two slices of a brownie. Also hi! We met at the tea party towards the end, I was in an old black meta piece with a white swan in my wig if that is helpful in any way, your coord was so cool to see!! I love that print and I like what you did with it Also that print with the Goose talk shit get bit I love it (lol sorry for the long comment!)

The Rosalie jumper skirt is gorgeous in that colorway!! and I am (5’9 - 5’10) tall and I’m always looking at larger sizes to compensate for length - I am glad to know it’s that long. I adore the color. If you ever decide you don’t want it PLEASE give me a chance to get it! It does look fabulous on you even without a blouse - it’s lovely for summertime but also so versatile for other seasons. I understand if you never want to part with it. Lovely! noo stop selling me on that jacket I keep trying to tell myself my cheap secondhand coat is all I need lol. The set looks really cool on you! I would've considered going for the happy pack myself if I didn't need different sizes for everything. I preordered the Adenophora dress+corset back when it came out, but the thing is I'm in the highly cursed 'kinda too big for standard/kinda too small for plus size' range for lolita so it's always a gamble when given the option. I went with a size 2 since the bodice didn't have any shirring and when I got it, it was practically falling off of me (that shoulder elastic+not a whole lot of bust was not a good combination) Thankfully I got to try on a size 1 before rebuying it so I didn't end up disappointed twice. Still have the size 2 corset that I'm debating on selling, it's a little loose but it's so darn cute. (and yes I've seen the blue in person and it's super gorgeous, reminds me of Moitie. I have the black but I'm eyeing it/at least will be hunting for it secondhand.)

lol, love the rant about modern clothing manufacturing and dress sizing - preach on! Atelier Pierrot hasn't brought out anything that has made me reach for my wallet yet, but I'm so glad that another brand besides Meta is trying to be size inclusive.

I was just wondering if you'd be posting a Nightshade event review and then this shows up on my subscription page! I love your event overviews, the way you tell stories/focus on the 'downtime' and what you and your friends did outside of the official event makes it feel like I was there or like I'm just listening to a friend. I was interested in Nightshade but I found out about it a little too late to really plan/save for this year so I'd definitely love to go in 2023 if they hold it again. I don't remember if anyone in my local comm went (though one or two of our out-of-state members did and it sounded like they had a great time.)

Im revisiting this 2 years later and I must say that indie brands have really helped. I got an OP from Sweet Milred that has an expandable bust and free waist. And Belladonna, Night Whisper, Joy Amaranthine, and A Gato Gataway have been brands I bought from so far. They have been consistent within the plus size realm of lolita for me.

This was very interesting to watch! I have been in and out lolita fashion since 2004 but overall disconnected from the community. It is nice to have these down memory lane moments once in a while. I had my moments of looking for lolita music from wherever I could find. Besides j rock bands, some solists and duos like Moon Kana, Nana Kitade, Kyari Pamyu Pamyu, Kanon Wakeshima, Zaq, Kokusyoku Sumire, Ali Project and Kalafina were greatly influenced by the fashion at some point (and also contributed to the scene). As for non japanese artists, my overall favorite is Lolita KompleX, because they keep being loyal to the lolita aesthetic and also are influenced by some themes popular within the fashion. If you are more into dark cabaret music, Rosie Roulette used to be part of the lolita scene as well, although not any more in recent years.

I love Nightwhisper - the Frankendress I ordered from her was the second lolita piece I ever got (and the first I received, the Dollbe one took longer). She's always been very receptive to feedback and I love how size friendly her work is! If you get a chance (and it's your aesthetic, check out her new mushroom skirts - I have one and it's super comfy and looks cute both with and without a petti)

I feel the loss of paradiso as well, i know there are a few more start up events but it really is hard. I have high hopes for rose foret, nightshade, and RVR. Also it was really funny seeing myself for 2 seconds in the swap meet. I was a cryptid at this event where i only exist in passing moments of other peoples videos/pictures

Going to other states or even certain towns in my state it astounds me how they just are so wacky with time and when they are open

Your video backlog is keeping me company while I'm stuck at work (thank you!) and hearing you talk about not wearing red at weddings, I can't keep myself from saying the reason my best friend's very superstitious family told me, which is that wearing red is a backhanded way to symbolize you're the groom's mistress. I just find this idea so old-fashioned catty that it's hilarious to me.
