My daughter never accepted me. Since she was 3 she told me she and her mother were fine on their own before they lived with me and they didn't need me in their lives. I adopted her and took care of her and her needs. She complained bitterly in college for not getting more money, though we gave her enough for her tuition and it was was all the spare money we had. Her mother and I separated her senior year. As stipulated in the early separation agreement I gave her mother money for her schooling. I think she knew her mother had been stealing from me and the family, one of the reasons we divorced. Why was she surprised when her mother stole her money for school? She said I should have given her mother more than the 10K a month she was getting in today's dollars. It was 2/3's of my paycheck. California divorce courts can be nuts. I had had enough by then. I think it was appropriate I said No when she then demanded a blank check for grad school school when she said she didn't know what she wanted to study. Don't enable hostile and unreasonable kids. It just encourages them to be childish.
