Solid advice right here from this guy. Been shooting for 20 years, half of that in an in-house league at my local pool hall. I've seen it all there, from rack-runners to first-timers and EVERYONE falls prey to this stuff. The difference is in knowledge: the people running racks KNOW what they're "supposed" to do, even if they sometimes forget it or aren't paying attention to it in the moment. But amateurs like me? Lots of us have never been taught what we're supposed to do in the first place! If I could give this vid more than one like, I would.

At 21 to 57 you scratched on the break but your opponent was supposed to shoot from the kitchen not ball in hand, what APA rules do you go by?

At 6:40 your opponent does not realize its ball in hand. He plays the cue ball from where you placed it.

I don't know 9 ball scoring for APA. Early on when you had 1 pot and scratched after making the 2, you didn't get a point. Is that how that works? You only get a point if you don't scratch? If so, then every game would not be a guaranteed 10 points then. What happens if you scratch on the 9? No points and start a new game? Or does your opponent get the 2 points?

I really enjoy this format, with the commentary about the available options, and differentiating those for the different skill levels. I'm around a 3 or 4 myself, and while I understand the point about surveying the whole table, I also have enough trouble just making the basic shots :D

When I play low skill lvl players, my only goal in life is to not scratch on the break. I let up a lot on my break playing 3s and 4s.

Your score was off because of the 2nd game, you made the 1 ball and didn’t count it towards your score

At 43:08 why not just kick the 6 into the 8 instead of drawing into it. It would have left the 6 in the pocket and you could have came around to the 9 on the other end. I feel like that was an over thinking on your part. IMO

I'm a skill level 4 in both 8 and 9. I fell like if I can get a few fundamentals cleaned up to stop missing some of the more easier shots, I get to that next level.
