Congratulations Connor. What a great watch 👏🏻
I'll be sure to pass your well wishes to Conor the next time I see him :)
Dude this video is awesome! Aikon is criminally underrated!
Thanks my friend! I couldn’t agree more 🤝
Beautiful and well done video! The Aikon with the icon himself!
Far too kind of you to say 😄 thanks for watching!
Dude! Nice video 👏.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! The Aikon really made for a great companion watch 🤝
You took a tour of Italy without me!? Rude my man.
I just assumed you'd think the whole "go out into the world exploring" bit would be such a hassle :)
@@thetimist To be fair it is!
See? I know you 😄
Love it. I got chills watching this. I remember when I received “the call”. It is an amazing experience. Something I will never forget. Hope you are enjoying this special timepiece.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Even happier to hear you got "the call" 🙌 it's little events such as these that stick with us, and when you meet others that share the same passion for the hobby, there's an instant connection that happens because they "get it." I'm still enjoying the Snoopy, and I hope you are as well my friend 🤝
Wonderful honesty and an example of true character and a willingness to share her travel into horology. A very humanistic point of view.
Thank you for watching and your kind words - your support of Alena’s journey means a lot I’m sure 👍
Did you buy it from Breitling directly ?
I did indeed! Keep in mind though that this was a few years ago and I had to monitor the site like a hawk since they were perpetually out of stock 👍
@ completely aware. Reason I asked , when buying at the Breitling boutique they didn’t give me a pouch. So I’m thinking I would show them this
Love this watch. Planning to get it by year's end. ❤
I fully understand, believe me 🤗 let me know if you pick one up!
Do you think this would even be remotely possible today? We have a thousand times the technology and 1/10th the fortitude of the generation before us. Makes me somewhat ashamed to be Gen X
I get where you're coming from - I do - but recently I was listening to an episode of StarTalk with Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson. One of his guests joined him to discuss all the exciting research and projects tied to the Mission to Mars program. That in and of itself got me excited and made me believe in the future of the space program!
Watchmaking program is about $50,000 for two years of training. Upon graduating im told average salary is about 45-60k a year. With inflation and cost of living how is this a possible career choice?
That's not a question that I am personally qualified to answer as I don't work within the watch industry itself - although if I had to venture a guess, with additional certifications in brand-specific service centers (and polishing) I would imagine that yearly average would go up. I have first hand testimony having spoken with a 24 year-old watchmaker in Italy who was offered something close to 6 figures, plus housing in Switzerland by a watch brand that literally everyone in the world would recognize. He turned it down so that he could focus on his family's watchmaking business in Venice. So I suppose it depends on region, speciality, certifications, and the market at that time.
Hello....a question, is the movement of that Cartier Noisy? Does the rotor make a lot of noise?
Not that I have noticed, personally 👍
The best call I have ever received.
Big congrats my friend - it's one of the most thrilling and epic calls a watch enthusiast can receive - enjoy it!
I love my sd43 mk1 dial
That little touch of red makes such a big difference, in the best way possible 👍
Ashame they didn't do this in a GMT complication
A GMT in this case with this dial would have been amazing 🤝who knows what the future holds though?
I don’t understand what’s special about this watch?
My video should have elucidated this but in short - it celebrates the human spirit of ingenuity and our drive to survive, it’s tied to NASA, it’s rare and therefore near impossible to find, and it’s the first watch from Omega to have a case back animation 👍
Fricken awesome video! Mine is getting delivered today and I can’t wait. Unfortunately, I had to get mine on the grey market. It is unworn and with prices plummeting, was only $4k more than MSRP. So not too bad. I’m in Seattle and already have a call into Timeworks for a bracelet to add to the strap.
Thanks for the kind words 🙏 still very cool that you managed to pick one up at not the astronomical prices they once were! Glad you’re local to Seattle and happy you’re working with Timeworks 🤗 they’re just amazing people!
@ I love it. Been wearing it everyday this weekend. Such a fun watch. I’m going to go to Time Works today to get the bracelet. The strap, like everyone says, is way too stiff.
@ Nice! Congrats again 🎉 the strap isn’t bad, it actually breaks in fairly quickly if you power through it 👍
Moonlanding LOL
I’m curious how you’re even watching this video 😆
I have an SD and Pepsi. Always lean towards the SD to wear.
Oh very interesting! The SD feels a lot more capable and sturdy, not rush the Pepsi doesn’t, but it’s just different somehow 😄
Excited to see a video on this! I was there on Saturday morning for an eye opening experience and loved every minute of it. Your retelling of the adventure is spot on. I am most impressed by how well you remembered all of the component terminology in your narration.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your class time, and for taking a moment to watch my video 🤗 I did my best to capture audio but I also found a tutorial on this very movement which helped refresh my terminology 😃
Easy to get 30% discount off retail
For a normal Speedmaster, maybe 15, perhaps 20 if you have a great relationship. For a Snoopy, that’s not even a conversation.
Nice work!
Thanks 👍 I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Try cool class. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely - thanks for watching!
Are there classes on manufacturing of individual parts? Machinist want to know.
Unfortunately looking over their courses I don’t believe that’s something on offer. I know that timing and lubrication is however. The best thing to do is to look over their site, I included a link in the video description 👍
Outstanding work sir!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to drop a comment!
James, making such great content! Look out Teddy! ❤❤
Haha well I don't know about that - but I appreciate the sentiment :)
so interesting
I'm glad you think so!
Would you ever consider attending a watchmaking course? Better yet, have you already attended one? Either way, please feel free to share your thoughts below 😃
This might be the best watch video on RUclips!! Thanks for taking us viewers along on this wonderful ride!!
Well that's some high praise! You should join in for the next class, it'll change your whole perspective on watches :)
Awesome video. I'm switching careers to Watchmaking and recently emailed Ben Bridge about possible employment after graduation. Thank you for giving a glimpse of what's to come ❤❤❤
Oh how exciting! Wishing you much success on this new chapter! I will add that I have a two more videos that you may get some value out of watching - one where I visit the Ben Bridge watchmaking service department, and the other video is with Alena as she shares her story on becoming a watchmaker :)
@@thetimist I saw the "world premier" Ben Bridge Watchmaking video. It was that video that prompted me to email BB in the first place. Was VERY impressed with their operation. I definitely could see myself working there in the future!
@@SOPHIAFLYGIRL Oh wow! OK, you've just made my day saying that! That is quite literally one of the main reasons why I made that video in the first place! Since today is my birthday, I'll consider that a proper gift - I'm rooting for you, and I hope to hear back from you when you get hired 🤝
@@thetimist Happy birthday!!! Thank you for your kind words!!
@@SOPHIAFLYGIRLOf course! Message me on Instagram @ the_timist_IG I’d like to see if I can introduce you to some of the watchmakers at Ben Bridge 👍
Are you sure that the watch Ralph Lauren wore wasn't his brand's hommage to the Tank design? Also, the Tank Luis Cartier debuted in 1922. It was what is now called the Tank Normale that was made commercially available in 1919. It was the initial design work that began in 1917. It is rumored that a prototype of this design was given to General Pershing in 1918, the year before the watch went to market commercially. I'm consulting my book on the Tank.
Would love to find a solid Cartier book with historical info and context to add to the horology collection - as for the Ralph Lauren Tank, yes I do believe it was a proper Cartier and not his homage, at least from the research I was able to explore 👍 thanks for the info!
Criminally low subscribers with such high production value. Subbed!!
Haha you're very kind - thank you for the support, it really means a lot! I don't post nearly enough to satisfy the algorithm but when I do post I want it to be of some worth to folks - so thank you for the sub my friend 🤝
I don't usually comment on videos, but DUDE - this video can legitimately be aired on the Discovery Channel or use by either NASA or Omega or both. Great production and storyboard. Congrats on your Silver Snoopy - been waiting on mine too, I'm hoping to get that call one day soon.
Very kind of you to say, thank you 🙏 it truly means a lot! I put a lot of effort into this one - it means so much to so many people out there so I wanted to do my best at doing the story justice. Thank you for the support, and know that I'm rooting for you to get the call for your Silver Snoopy as well 🤝
I want to live in that community!!
Understandable! Seek out your local watch scene and try to join your local community if possible!
Better than a Sub for sure. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it - I appreciate the comment 👍
Thanks for an informative and balanced video presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it David! I appreciate you taking the time to reach out 👍
Perfect video. I was just a falling asleep and I’m not being sarcastic. Great watches Thanks
Haha thanks! That’s the exact vibe I was going for 👍 if you want more you can watch my full video on the Nomos 😃
Hi great watch I own the steel and gold version of the sea dweller it's my favourite watch out of my collection. I have very big wrists (215mm) so it fits perfectly on my wrist and the thickness is not a problem and even my James Cameron deepsea doesn't feel that big on my wrist s(possibly even get away with the deepsea challenge?) great video thanks John 👍.
Thanks for taking the time to drop me a message, John! Really glad you enjoyed the video - also congrats on two epic pieces in your collection my friend! Wear them in good health 👍
Long Winding Mouthing Off Clown.
planned to buy this one an d it s gonna be my third had the oyster from 1971 then the GMT 2 sols them both and had no rolex for the last 7 years.. but this masterpiece ... I love it.. thx for the vid... and your lovely SD Gr fr Holland
Congrats on all the previous additions, and happy to hear you plan on adding this capable beauty to your collection! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to drop a comment as well - let me know when you get it!
The actual title should be "How I my fairy omega Snoopy watch ⌚️ 😂😂😂😂
🤣
Congrats on the snoopy, great video
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words 🙏
Nice job - great content and nice humor peppered throught. Nice!
Really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment 👍
Great video, you definitely deserved it!
Very kind of you to say - thank you 🙌
I recently purchased this same watch thru Bob’s watches avoiding the long wait times at Ben Bridges .. Absolutely love it ..
It’s a phenomenal piece that I’m sure will bring you joy for many years to come 👍 congrats!
Oris is on my list. They make very nice watches and they are not owned by one of the big three conglomerates. Thanks
A worthy brand to have on your list for sure! I highly recommend it 👍
As a broke boy and actual enthusiast who wants watch’s prices to crater, AMZWATCH is a good choice.
I just hate the polished center links..... other than that it would be perfect although I like the coke way more than the Pepsi
I do wish it was a fully brushed Oyster like on the Sub, but alas, it’s position a bit higher and so therefore I guess that means polish in certain areas. A full brush with no polish would in my opinion also make the bezel colors (regardless of variant) pop more 👍
I,m in the market for one of these may I ask what size is your wrist please thanks…
Awesome - I think you’ll like it! My wrist size is 6.75 inches or 17.1 centimeters 👍
An aviation enthusiast gets a snoopy speedmaster? I’ve been in aviation since 1980. USAF F15 crewchief. 38 years with Boeing… and can’t get a nod.
I’m sorry you feel that way. I’m seeing more and more folks getting a Snoopy as of the past 6 months or so - but again they may likely be people that got their Snoopy deposits accepted either by a boutique or an AD (and they’re just now getting the new wave of tie pieces shipped out at once) in any case I hope you get yours one day, and thank you for your service 👍
