I got the erääpuu after your first review and I am happy with it. Don’t like the edge on the Stromeng. I still have two Stromeng though but smaller ones.
Great area to live. I wish I lived there ,God bless you and your family, and happy new year .Lee
Looks Cold! 🥶 Ha! Thanks for sharing! Reminds me of my days in Barrow Alaska!
Looks great. I have Boker Bark Beetle which is similar in size and shape. It’s very practical and I’ve done almost everything using it.
The Finn lite a great size for so many tasks and extremely comfortable to use. For the price it is really fantastic. I don't own any Boker knives. Maybe I should. Thanks for watching mate.
@ I love knives and you are the man. Always watch you with joy. I’m the one that should say thank you. You have my respect
I bought the M 07 sissipuukko few weeks ago. Don't have an old one to compare but it's really good, the saber grind comes down so nicely that it almost looks like an high scandi very nice and thin behind the edge. No sharp edges on the spine. It's still a military knife and from what i can tell a very good one. Tried to take some pictures of it today but my S24 ultra had trouble focusing on it because the damn thing is so black 😂. It's literally the blackest of all the black knives i own.... Like someone messed around with some vantablack in the mix.
Thanks for the information. I am glad they haven't changed the knife too much. There are quite a few new versions available now. More choice can't be a bad thing. Thanks again.
I think I agree with you, this new model is aimed at the segment of the market that wants the birchwood grips. Overall seems like a natural option for Peltonen to introduce, I wonder if all current leather sheaths no longer have the front strap for inverted carry? I have a leather sheath and the synthetic sheath that I use interchangeably on my M07 they are both excellent. Great video thanks for taking the time.
Thank you for watching. I belive that all of the new Peltonen Leather sheaths now come without the attachment for inverted carry, wich I think is a real shame. I am planning on doing another video on Peltonen Knives and in particular the sheaths in the near future. Happy New year mate.
My grandfather has one of those red balisongs lying around in the shed. They are flimsy and horrible to sharpen 😂 but fun to play around.
Not the toughest piece of kit. Fine for cutting cheese and the occasional feather stick. But best not to drop them (I learnt that the hard way 😂). Really fun little item though. Thanks for watching mate.
Standard aluminium oxide stone or coarse diamond plate. For finishing i use whatever smaller fine stone i have with me. I rarely go about 1000 grit before stopping unless i sharpen something for trimming things in garden.
Thanks for sharing your methods. Also great to see people still watching the older videos, so thanks for that too.
What was the brand you mentioned near the end that the designer has moved on to?
That would be Taxus Knives www.taxusknives.com/ They look awesome, but production seems to be moving pretty slow and they are hard to get hold of.
I have had their Montanero for a couple years now and it has climbed to the top of the list for my favorite woods knife. Wish I could get the same one in micarta or g10 in Canada. The Scandi and 14c28N is ideal. Handle could be a bit deeper for extended work. Sheath retention isn’t amazing; dropped it a few times until I started looping the lanyard arojnd the Firesteel and holds good enough if it backs out a bit .
The retention on the sheath of my Joker Nessmuk wasn't great either. I wet formed it, now it's a lot better. Had my eye on the montanero for a while too. It looks like a fantastic knife. Thanks for watching mate, and happy new year.
Got mine, cracking little knife, good channel 👍
Thank you, glad you are enjoying the channel. I really like this little knife, the edge didn't hold up very well at work. But what I put my knives through at work is a bit overly rough. I think the steel could be better, but other than that it is a joy to use. Also for the price, well at that price it is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for watching mate.
Ballistol 🤢🫢🤧
Your not supposed to drink it🤣
This is great idea. I just trow the vitamin containers away. I've watched Les Stroud, and he said that fire is the only thing he needs to survive. Knife will be nice as well, but combustion is essential, I'll make few to have around. And I definitely see you with a Leatherman Supertool 300, check it out, I think it's still on a good price. You'll find it very handy. Happy New year, take care.
I will have a look at the supertool. Thanks for the suggestion. I also like to store tinder in ibuprofen bottles. I get through a lot of them with my aches and pains 🤣. Thanks for watching mate.
Looks good. I like joe but his reviews make no sense. I don't need a knife that can survive being shot out of a cannon 😂.
I have to be honest I haven't watched many of his videos. They are entertaining but I really don't need to know if a knife is totally indestructible. Happy new year Trav.
@KuukkeliBushcraft yeah, he's wild. But he's having fun. Lol. I watched a few and the novelty kind of wears off.
Decent looking knife, I have the HX outdoor Rock fixed blade, I've had it for years still going strong.
I wish they had sent me one of their fixed blades. I have a lot more use for fixed blade knives. I remember seeing a lot of positive reviews about the rock. Happy new year mate and thanks for watching.
@KuukkeliBushcraft Cheers mate all the best to you and yours for 2025.
Looks Cool Tim! Can't wait for a Review! 😎🤘🔪🔪🔪🔪🍺🍻🍺🍺🍺
Let's see when I get round to that🤣. I can't say I use folders much. They should have sent me a fixed blade Thanks for watching mate and happy new year.
Knife no 1365 to the collection 🤣🤣🤣👊
First
Thank you. This was possibly one of the most entertaining videos this year. I have no idea why I have developed a fetish for plastic handled work knives. The cheaper the better. The bahco 🍊 handle seems especially delicious.
The Bahcos are nice mate. These knives function really well, the only thing I am not too keen on is the sheaths of many of them. My current favourites are the Finnman knives. Been testing out the stainless version for a while now at work. Used the carbon one a lot. Thanks for watching mate and have a fantastic new year.
@@KuukkeliBushcraft Finnman does seem like a sweet blade. I just personally despise sharpening the wider skandi grinds. 3 minutes on one side but you still haven't touched the very edge of the grind 🤬😡🤬😂. I would rethink everything if I owned a proper water grinder. I use to have the discontinued mora craftline high q or something like that. The one that is like companion but better and has red plastic and grey rubber. It had a perfect blade size and grind but my stupid teenage ass wanted to take it apart. Too bad they don't make them anymore. Happy New year.
@NightsideOfParadise I have the same craftline, it's fantastic. Such a shame they stopped making them.
Would this still be true today? Is that one still the favorite? And why no makers marks?
Maybe there was a makers mark once. It's a very old knife and many of my old puukkos have no such mark. Many new puukkos have no actual name on them either. If I had to pick a favourite today? Maybe this one definitely top five but the order might depend on the day.
i have same puukko and its old, rusty and dull! so this video is perfect 👍!
Awesome, I hope the video helps you to put that right. Happy new year and thanks for watching.
Nice one Tim. In the new year we are going to Barcelona, I'll for one of these. All the best in the new year. Cheers 👍
Have fun in Barcelona, I would recommend going to Montserrat but going for a hike around the mountain and not just from the centre to the top. Collserola is also just outside of the city. Just a short train ride. Avoid eating and drinking in the more touristy areas. Twice the price. There are also some great knife shops in the town I am sure you will find them and pallares you can find everywhere. Definitely about the most typical Catalan thing you can find that you can't eat. Happy new year and thanks for watching.
Filos clasicos catalanes, muy lindos, me tengo que hacer de alguno 😁 abrazo Tim!
Gracias Maty, practicos y baratos. Feliz año nuevo amigo Un abrazo
Good video, thanks for sharing, YAH Bless !
Thank you very much Michael. God bless and have a joyful new year.
👍 Nice kit for the worst of times. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching mate. I think the most important thing I was trying to get across is that storm matches are awesome. Happy new year mate and thanks for watching.
Hey Tim my friend ! I was beaten with sticks once in Spain.. I went to hospital !! lol (I'm joking.. the ambulance didn't turn up !! lol) I lived in Torrevieja ( I was told it meant 'old tower' ) ..but they served a decent jar of booze.. Great knives and a superb review !! I loved my time in Spain ..wonderful people.. but the country was too hot for me !! ..so now I'm freexing my monkeys off in Poland !! lol Blessings to you and the Unni beastie 🐾🐾
Thanks Andy, hope you had a good Christmas mate. Happy new year to you and Jimmy.
Wonderful Tim bro !.. great idea !! I take vitamins to be able to ride my bicycle !! 😉😁 ..I'm not fat.. just horizontally expanded !! Top trick there for survival mate !! Happy Christmas !! Blessings to you and the Unni beastie !! 🐾
Thank you Mate, Unni is expanding horizontally at the moment 🤣. The dogs get a lot of food in the winter as they burn lots of calories. She is very happy about that.
Cool little blades. 🔥
Thanks mate, I like them. Cheap and practical especially in the kind of environment they evolved in. Something more sturdy is better in the north also something you can access with gloves on. Happy new year and thanks for watching.
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for watching mate. Happy new year
They are very similar to the French Capucin knives found more or less directly north of Catalunya in Ariége.
Interesting, named after the monks I guess. I have seen other similar knives in the region too. Most Iberian folding knives do seem to belong to a couple of different styles. Not so familiar with french ones. I have also seen some very similar French and Catalan axes. Thanks for watching mate and have a fantastic new year.
Nice shape blade may get 1 in new year ,have an awsome week ,brother. God bless you and your family. Lee
Makes for a pretty decent EDC . Cheap too (at least in Spain 🤣). God bless and have a wonderful new year Lee.
I really like unusual European folders. I have several. Thanks 🎸🔪
It's very interesting, the different styles in different regions. I would actually say more so with axes. The problem with axes is they take up a lot of room 🤣. Thanks for watching mate and have a wonderful new year.
It's a really beautiful l, sort of archaic looking design. Especially the leaf-like blade shape makes me think of archeological finds from the Roman era. It seems like a very efficient use of the steel to get the maximun of height, belly and penetrating tip onto the blade.
Thanks Erik mate, I really like the shape and look of these knives. There might be quite a bit of nostalgia in that as I did carry one every day for quite a few years. Thanks for watching and have a fantastic new year.
@KuukkeliBushcraft Happy New Year, buddy!
What do you think the edge angle is?
Looks pretty similar to a Mora, so I would say 23/24 degrees. Thanks for watching mate. Sorry it took a while to reply. Busy and getting very behind on comments.
@@KuukkeliBushcraftWe are just random people on the internet, brother. No need to apologise. Thanks for the response.
I found a place here n the states even .!!😊 i had been lookin 4 a folder w a blade shape like those . On time review ..🤯mind blown as always ..have a great day n no worries !
It's a really nice blade shape. I think you can get pretty much any knife in the states if you look hard enough. The Finman puukko for example seems to be easier to find there than here in Finland where they are produced 🤣. Easier to find in stock at least. Have a great new year.
Lovely knives. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I really like them, might be partly a nostalgia thing as I did carry them every day for quite a few years. Happy new year Ray.
@ Onnellista uutta vuotta!
Hey, Tim, great looking little utility blades! The Spanish know cutlery, eh? Great little vid. All the best!
I think Spain and Finland are definitely the two top knife making nations in Europe.I know Italy makes some good stuff too. Thanks for watching Jeff Happy new year mate.
That looks like a full on carving axe but with a longer handle. Light looking too, so ideal imo. Very nordic looking! It's saying 'use me!' All the best👍🏻
It's saying use me, but I don't have time at the moment. Dreaming up some summer woodworking projects though. Thanks for watching Steve. Have a fantastic new year mate.
Where can i find those ? All i can find r 85 bux n up ...more later .
Did you get a cheaper one? Hey if you want to comment with a link I can pin it. Someone else might be looking. About a quarter of my viewers and in the US. I imagine these aren't so easy to come by outside of Spain.
Yep ..a place called portland trading co. N portland maine. Just 1 size tho . Have a good eve. No worries !
Nice little blade 👌
Thanks Riam, actually might make quite a decent UK legal EDC. Happy new year mate.
@KuukkeliBushcraft happy new year, mate
Some useful knives come out of Spain.😁👍🏻
They know what they are doing over there. Just like here in Finland. Happy new year mate.
Z jakiej stali jest 1446
I couldn't say for sure. I do know Bahco use SK5 on some of their knives so that would be a likely candidate. Thanks for watching mate.
It is always great to hear your cheerful greeting at the start of the videos, it is a real pick me up. 😊 Good looking little knives, pity they are not available in Oz. I'll just have to stick to my Opinel. 😁
Thank you very much mate. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Even if you can't get all of the knives 🤣. They are not really a big manufacturer even in Spain. They are certainly the most Catalan knife manufacturer though. Have a fantastic new year.
I got the small kitchen knife , just liked the shape of the blade and round handle. I was looking for these basic folders but couldn't find a place to buy them.
Not the biggest manufacturer in Spain, very nice blade shape. Where are you based? One of my viewers in the US said he found somewhere. I asked him to post a link as I am sure more people will be looking. Happy new year mate.
@KuukkeliBushcraft Happy new year mate, Based in Helsinki, bout the kitchen knife from a shop in Helsinki.
@@supernova1976 I found this, it's bloody expensive. Probably better to get one shipped from Spain. kikiknives.com/
Merry Crimbo mate! I've got a fancier version with boxwood handle. As you say, a tried and tested design - great EDC! Stay in the Kukkeli kitchen and keep warm mate - all the best👍🏻
Cheers Steve mate. Not spending much time in that kitchen at the moment. Busy dealing with floods of tourists come to see Santa 🤣. Getting quieter now so at least I am catching up on comments. January is so nice, the tourists go away and the sun comes back🤣.
I got one of those ragweed forge knives coming. They look great and cheap. I see you were carrying yours as your daily carry last vid. Have a great holidays. Give our love to unni Tim. Another great knife video. You have good taste in knives bro. And enjoy a beer or two or 17.😂😂😂🍺🍻🍺🍺🍺😝👍
Awesome, Ragweed forge in New Zealand? ?. I hope you like it, I am testing out the stainless version at the moment. Does seem a bit more chippy than the carbon. I guess you got the carbon so you can strike it against a rock 🪨🔥. 80crv2 works good for that from what I remember. Thanks for watching mate.
👍 Thank you for introducing me to these inexpensive quality knives. I purchased 3 in 3 different sizes. 😃
Awesome, that's great. I hope you enjoy using them. Happy new year and thanks for watching the video.
Good review, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !
🙏🙏🙏🙂👍
Thanks for watching mate. God bless
Only just got an M95, partly on your recommendation and so far I'm impressed with it. As regards your new purchase, sometimes it's nice to have a change from rubber and plastic. You know and like the blades, sounds all good to me and the knife is a looker!!!!
It certainly is a lot prettier than the original. I still think the rubber handle is more comfortable though. Either way Peltonen makes great knives in my opinion. Thanks for watching and have a fantastic new year.
Merry xmas 2 u n the beast !!😊 no worries bro .
Have a fantastic festive season, nearly said happy Christmas, then realised it's boxing day in 10 minutes 🤣. All the best for 2025 and thank you for all of your comments and support.
