4 Reasons I Miss My BMW M240i Over My BMW M2
I used to own a BMW M240i, and I miss it. Here are 4 reasons why I miss that car and currently wouldn't;t mind having it again, over my BMW F87 M2
The BMW I had was a 2017 F22 M240i in black, with a gorgeous red interior, and the car I currently have is a 2016 F87 M2. The M2 is an absolutely incredible car in every way, but there's something missing from my ownership of this M2, that I think I had in my M240i.
Watch the video to find out why I miss my BMW M240i, over my BMW M2.

    You can put the car in MDM or Traction mode if you press the TC button once, and it will fully open the exhaust valves instead of just 50% open like in the sport and sport+ modes. I think in the video you were using sport+?

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski 5 часов назад

      Yes that’s true, but the difference I find is traction mode increases the general burbles, not so much the individual loud pops. So it’s nice if you want to make some noise at slower speeds. I didn’t mention traction mode because I think most people use sports+ anyway got general hard driving

      The leather is really disappointing. Every other car I’ve ever been in has had the leather hold up well. We have a 2010 Lexus and the leather still feels and looks great in that car. My old M240i had the red dye bleed horribly and it left a peeled patch on the headrest. That car had 65k miles on it. This M2 has 69k miles. Not bad for a car, but on the higher side for an M2.

    Mine is a 2018 LCI and I have the same issue but just with the right blinker light, would I have to replace the whole taillight?

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski 19 часов назад

      It’s likely just the LED if it’s only a blinker. A characteristic of the ground wire burning out is that all the bulbs fail to light. The ground wire is also an issue on the pre-LCI models, not the LCI. The electric current in the LCI bulbs is less and doesn’t strain the ground wire nearly as much. Thats why 2017 M2s had a second ground wire to fix the issue from the 2016s. The LCI supposedly has some similar issue with currents, but I don’t own an LCI so I’m honestly not familiar with it. 1, see if BMW will cover it because they extended the factory warranty for the taillights on those I THINK to 7 years. 2, see if you can just replace the LEDs as it’s cheaper than the whole taillight. 3, if still it doesn’t fix itself then you may have to replace the whole thing, or at least the backing to the housing. I would buy from somewhere like FCP so you get the lifetime warranty if it ever breaks again.

    Great video! I think this kind of shows that these cars are more suited to those who lease/PCP, as by the time the agreement comes to an end, you are rotating to a new model. The only downside to that is very soon everything will be PHEV/EV. I want to hold onto my manual ICE cars for as long as possible 😢

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski 18 часов назад

      @@Tibialstone7 They definitely cost some money to get dialed in after so many years. But asides from some small common issues, my BMWs have largely been reliable. Ownership really isn’t that bad as long as you upkeep and maintain it. The decline of manuals and the ICE is one of the reasons I picked this car in a manual. But even now a lot of companies are going back on their decisions to switch to electric cars. We’ll realistically see the ICE still being produced for another decade. I’m hopeful!

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski День назад

      I actually have a few videos on that. I did one recently comparing the 2 cars, and I have one coming today relating to that as well. Way back(one of my first few videos) I have one talking about upkeep costs on the M240i as well. But overall, the M2 I feel is a more special car with a bit of character, it turns more heads and sounds way better. The M240i I consider a great car overall, but it falls more into the luxury category, being a top of the line 2-series. Performance wise they’re both pretty on-par with each other honestly unless you get an M2C. If you care about the engine being newer and the car being more subtle, I say M240i. It also has more interior options like seat color and trim. If you want a car that feels more like a sports car with some character, get the M2. I’ve bought an M2 twice if that tells you anything lol. I’ve owned the FZ8 transmission in the M240i, and both manual and DCT in the M2, they are all phenomenal transmissions and you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Same goes for BimmerCode, there are some modules and lines of code that are different or are stored in different locations. That’s odd. Make sure you 100% have the correct car selected when you boot it up. Unless the modules are organized differently for that car, it sounds like an issue on BimmerCode’s end. I would honestly send them an email with the car information and see if they have an answer. ‘21 is old enough, and 330i common enough that they should have proper support for it by this point. There are a lot of common codes that are in those modules so they should definitely exist. Edit: I looked into it a bit. So that year eliminated those as separate modules. The codes should be under BDC. You should also be able to use expert mode to find them. I would just be cautious digging around in there, so make sure you find the correct codes before starting. I’m not sure if some lines of code changed in the G series.

    Thanks for this video, pleased I found it as I was having exactly the same problems with an M2 I've just bought. I figured I'd just make sure that wire wasn't loose only to find that it was!! Same as you the clamp appears tight and if you put a spanner the nut you'd say it was as well, but what is happening is the square headed bolt that passes through this wire and the positive clamp, is catching on part of the clamp before it sits flush in the right position, when I tightened the nut on the bolt further it pulled the bolt free and and then allowed the wire to be tightened properly against that side of the clamp. Whoever fits the battery should really spot this upon checking their work, but if your fitting against the clock I can see how it can happen. Definitely something for anyone changing a battery on these cars to pay attention to.

    How did you fixed Output SL_2_R defective? is the ony error I have in bimmerlink and I can't find a solution!

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski Месяц назад

      If you clear an error and it returns, or it just doesn’t clear at all, it means it’s an active issue that should be looked into. For me most of my errors were due to a faulty tail light ground cable. Once I had that fixed my errors were permanently gone. Until I did, they kept returning. That code indicates one of your right rear lights has an issue. There SHOULD also be an error on your Idrive. You have to narrow down which light bulb. Activate all the lights until one flags on your Idrive as defective and you’ll have an answer. Taillight, brake, reverse, turn signal, fog light(this one is easy to miss as many don’t realize it exists. it also activates on very hard braking, look up brake force display).

    Curious how much $ is a clutch service in a manual.

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski Месяц назад

      A new clutch is around $850 on FCP EURO. I would guess with labor around $1,500 at an indie shop. I’ve heard you can find the clutches for under $500, but I haven’t needed to replace mine so IDK.

    I just serviced my DCT a couple weeks ago. Just the fluid, filters, oil pan and hardware were close to 600 bucks. I saved a ton of money on labor doing it myself, but boy was it a hassle to do! Getting those little oil spills off my floor was super annoying. Of course I tracked it everywhere before I got a chance to clean too lol. This vid is taking off bro! I know that feels good man. Keep at it!

    How often does ZF8 need the service? BMW says it's for life...

    • @exiteternium
      @exiteternium Месяц назад

      go under the transmission manufacturers recommendations, NOT BMW's, which is 40-60K i believe.

    • @BertskiZPolski
      @BertskiZPolski Месяц назад

      ZF say around 50-60k miles, or around 100K km. “For life” doesn’t really mean for life. It really covers the 1st and 2nd owners who likely won’t even reach 100k miles. But long term the issues will surface. Logically it’s still a mechanical machine out under a lot of stress over it’s life, and the fluid will accrue metal shavings and become burnt over the years and miles. As I mention in the video, it’s 100% worth changing, unless you get the car with 100k miles on it and it’s never been changed, at which point it’s better to not touch it than risk dislodging gunk and clogging your valve bodies.

    When someone totaled my car 2005 Subaru WRX STi that I had since new 5 years ago. Good thing I had a dash cam, and sent my insurance the dash cam video. They took care of everything. I didn't even go to court. The other insurance company just paid me out. A 2005 Subaru WRX STi with 32k miles on it for a 14 year old car and still was able to get $30k for it from the insurance was a good investment. I paid $38k after taxes and interest rates back in 2005 was super low, 0.9% for it. I'm cross shopping right now from a 2018 M2 to a 2019-2021 M2 Comp to an M4 and M4 CS. Can't wait to get it.

      Damn 0.9%! You don’t see those numbers anymore. During COVID I had a great 2.4% at the time on my M240i. The only regret I have trading to an M2 was my rate went up a lot. But good luck on your car hunt! I’d lean towards the CS, but you can’t go wrong with any of those choices.
