My dude you weren’t messing around! I admire your dedication too the craft 💪🏽
@@mikewillmadeit6817 thanks brother! One thing I can't tolerate is giving up or leaving a project unfinished for an extended period🤦♂️
FYI to other viewers, this video seems to show the cylinder bank 1 knock sensor. (mine is bad, throwing code P0325) There is also a sensor for bank 2... So use caution and don't remove the wrong one. There are slightly different codes for bank 2. Bank one should be the side of the engine with cylinder 1 - the distributor will probably have labels but they might be hard to read. Thanks for the video... I wouldn't have necessarily tried this if I was forced to cut wires... But it turns out my wire had a previous repair that may have been at fault - lots of electrical tape and some corrosion. I wasn't able to remove the connector like in this video, but since my wire was already damaged i just broke the wire... Going to need to soldier on a new pigtail but i think it will work... I had to order that online so it will be a few days. Im guessing the outer part of the coax cable is - and the inside is + but i guess i will know soon enough. Update: It worked. No more code after doing this fix. I stacked a few copper washers I had laying around under the sensor so that I could mount it on top of the throttle cable bracket without it colliding with the bracket. It's been 500 miles at this point so I don't expect that the code will come back. I don't know if you need to disconnect the battery to clear the code or not, because I apparently had a 2nd unrelated issue that was making my service engine soon light come on.
Is this video showing the circuit high input bank one? Just clarifying
Cause I got a po328 code for mine
@@solospoon7795 IDK about the fix for your specific code, but the video definitely shows cylinder bank 1, as my code was for bank 1 and the code hasn't come back after doing the fix, clearing it, and driving 500 miles. I could also just barely read the 1 on the distributor and the wire from that was going to this side of the engine. As for the 'circuit high input' code you are seeing, I am not sure what the fix is. I don't know if that could come from a bad knock sensor or if that means that something else is wrong.
What was the problem for you?
Update already! Got it off with this method 5min after posting this video😁🍻 Pipe wrench definitely has a better grip than adjustable crescent wrench which i prevuously tried and it kept snapping off no matter how snug i got it
Desperate men (and gals) take desperate measures. Proof is at every bar near closing time :) I once JB'd a water pump on a v8 engine that my brother BROKE MULTIPLE bolts off of But it all worked out. It was going to be sold anyways Cheers from So.Ca.USA 3rd House On the Left

Just the coolant lost from removing the radiator and water pump. Cast iron block with aluminum heads. I ran it several times for 4 minutes with a 1-2 hour cool down period between each run. The temp on the heads and valve covers never got above 160-170F.
Are we talking completely dry or just what is lost pulling the water pump? Cast iron block or aluminum? How many cylinders? I’d say 1-2 minutes at the max. A dry block less than a minute. Coolant helps distribute the heat evenly within the block. It also helps absorb the shock of combustion and the piston changing direction.
AlumINIum 🕶️😊
Yup....hopefully one day ill instead have a vehicle with an iron block and iron heads. Those are definitely much more resiliant
@@diycast6914 yep. My engine is a cheap french engine, so it's pretty tough. Turbocharged 1.1l engine producing 100 horsepower. In England we have smaller cars
Wow talk about sub-compact! Must get great MPG tho!
@@diycast6914 I used to get 80-90mpg from my diesel, but now I have a petrol (gasoline because diesel fumes are carcinogenic). I get 44 mpg. I think the engine is worn out badly because it should be higher
Thats increíble....on this 30-year old minivan im working on, I get 20-21mpg at best
JB weld
I was thinking that....too many people have mixed opinions and experiences with it though...the scary thing about attempting JB Weld on something like this is that -the oil pump is made of aluminum which expands/contracts twice as much as iron (meaning that its likely to crack the JB weld) -theres no way to monitor the health of the repair unless I basically do another complete timing belt job cause this crack is behild basically everything including the crankshaft sprocket and harmonic balancer
I sure hope not! I will come up with the best possible solution and try to avoid this massive oil pump replacement job. Tune-in to Part#2 to see what I come up with and if it ends up wo🤞
It will leak
Amen
I've put zerk fitting in them just to get them home....... thanks for the rig job!!!!! Have a wonderful day
Flex seal! Used it on a Mac truck for months:) running 12+ hrs a day. Constantly
You plugged a water pump weep hole with Flex Seal??
Oh yeah! I always carry a bag of small brass balls around with me.
Haha its never too late to add them to your roadside emergency kit though! You can probaby use the larger size Bb pellets
Arggggrgrgrgrg SHIT 😂😂😂
Belt valves have entered the chat
😂.....luckily its a noninterference engine so i highly doubt that happend...but ill know for sure once I put the new belt and camshaft sprocket on🤦♂️
Thank you for your great help! I'm going to be doing this on a 2003 Xterra as soon as it comes in, had to do crankshaft sensor last week and messed up the wires for knock sensor unfortunately
I think it’s the spark plugs and how they’re gapped then the plugs itself
Not in this case. I never install new plugs without double checking the gap beforehand
Bosxh definitely makes good products but some vehicles simply don't run right with their spark plugs. Google: "misfire with new Bosch spark plugs" and you will find several people on forums attesting to similar experiences.
it wasnt even firing on one in the first video
Bullshit
it will produce this difference if one is bad..so correct, this is bullshit
this is actually a crazy difference
Great vid! Some fyi if you replace the sensor with an aftermarket sensor, alot of people report having issues with the cam sensor afterwards. You should replace both at the same time. This vid explains why aftermarket sensors have the issues they do and why it causes that problem ruclips.net/video/Pjf-tacXOnI/видео.html
wouldn't the glass brake from all the heat
Nope! Been using it for a year now and its very durable. Glass mainly breaks from rapid fluctuations in temperature -example: running very cold water immediately over a hot piece of glass.
Just wanted to say thanks, used this to fix a reverse thread bolt that got snapped off in a really delicate spot on my handle bars and this fix worked perfectly.
Glad it helped!
Plug and play yea but u don't tell us what retaining ring to use u asshole what da hell????... 😂
What retaining ring did u use? - I just got the Hikari LED'S...
I used the stock retaining ring, but it wasnt essy trying to lock it bsck in the housing
@@diycast6914 I had gotten brand new light housings 'cause the old lens were getting hazy... so I had the whole thing right in front of me and ended up breaking one of the casting ear tabs off that the lock-ring is supposed to key into... brand new light fixtures & I broke it because of this stupid shit lol. The ring does not fit properly with these bulbs. I JUST sent these bulbs back last week to amazon got my money back. There's other LED's out there now that are a oem shape and fitment a little more in cost but worth it and stress free.
Great joy
When capturing video always hold the camera horizontal. Every TV screen, monitor screen, computer screen, movie theater screen, are orientated horizontally. Your video the camera is vertical, thus the left one-third, and right one-third of the screen is cut off. Your video is a stick video, tall and narrow thus appears. Watching It is similar to looking through a tight keyhole or wearing horse blinders.
Thanks for this advice🙏 I'm very new to all this
Worked a treat, thank you. Depending on the surface of the sheared bolt, you may need to grind the bolt surface flat (Dremel thin grindng stone or similar) to start the drill in centre to avoid thread damage. My bolt was surprisingly soft to drill..no wonder it sheared.
Bro...its adjustable using a Phillip's screwdriver
Thanks for the video going to try it before I take the car apart 👍👍
Please tell us about the baking soda and vinegar cleaning methods. Thanks for pointing out that the coolant line from the radiator to the expansion tank is bi--directional. Also the warning about using a plastic filter....which I was considering !!
Well its a long detailed procedure that takes patience but first thing to remember is that when draining most cooling systems only about 50-65% comes out and the rest remains in the block, hoses, heater core etc. So I flush the system with water a few times to get the remaining coolant diluted with water as much as possible, then fill it up with vinegar and drive/😂 let it sit in the system for 24-48h. Afterwards, drain and flush it a few times to get the vinegar diluted with water as much as possible and then mix 1/2-1 full box of baking soda in a gallon of water and throw that into the radiator. Then repeat the same procedure listed above.
Thanks a lot
I was able to reach down from behind the engine with my long fingers and was able to disconnect it with no damage. Relocated it and done. 10 minutes. Lucky me.
tell me something, do they tell you well after putting the sensor in another place?
What did you remove to do it?
I changed it by disassembling everything but the problem always comes out ☹️
@@NoticieroF The plug portion of the knock sensor. You have to have long nimble fingers.
Doing this "repair" is the same as pulling your check engine light bulb. If fixes the symptom but doesn't fix the problem.
The only time I WOULDN'T recommend this is if you vehicle has a knocking problem...then the new relocation of the knock sensor won't be ideal. As for pulling the bulb 💡 for your check engine light, that is different cause most smog places will detect that and fail you. This relocation however will enable you to pass smog.
I dropped my bike and the "shift linkage gear rod" broke. and had half the bolt thread stuk inside. Bought and extractor kit to remove the bolt. Only to come to the conclusion it was left handed. I went searching on Amazon for "a reverse thread extractor kit" only to get the thing that removes right hand bolts... as a last ditch effort went on youtube... And it actually worked, didn't have to tapp that hard because, the bolt was already lose. great tip 10/10 would recommend.
Glad I was of help🙏
It is better to say size of tirx drilbit Instead of saying this drill bit. Which and what size metal drill bit did you use? How did you hold the circular saw fixed so it does bot move when you are turning the socked?
Sorry for the lack of those details and the late reply. I had a bunch of loose torx bits and have no idea on the size... I basically drilled the smallest hole I can which will fit the smallest torx I have. If the surface area of the torx is too small to grab the broken bolt securely enough to extract it then id enlarge the hole with the next larger size drill bit and would then use the next larger size torx in the newly enlarged hole. As for keeping the saw blade from turning during this process, you simply press and dig the saw blade down into a scrap piece of wood.
Just FYI. See black plastic piece directly above adjustment mechanism. You can put medium Phillips head screwdriver in this tube and it aligns with teeth of adjustment mechanism. Turn left to raise beam and right to lower. Easier/quicker than with a wrench.
Or you can use an 8mm ratchet wrench it’s even faster.
Thanks for the info guys! Ill have to take your word for it cuz I sold it over a year ago cuz CA gas prices were sky high....and still are😣
So the old sensor is left in its old location no need to remove it at all? Thanks
Yup! No need to remove old sensor because it's now disconnected and non-functional.
I searched the interwebs for hours to find a reverse thread extractor. I was just drunk enough to try the old torx trick you recommended after I broke a dozen wood screws. I have to admit that confidence was very low. But hey.. was worth a shot. I got the bolt hotter than blazes, hammered the hell out of that torx bit and voila! (which is French for "then I found out") Thanks sir. Worked like a charm
Good job! Its definitely a trial and error learning curve when dealing with these complicated type of repairs but a great confidence booster once u get the hang of extracting stripped/broken bolts, nuts and screws
Why cant you just cut the wire to the sensor, and use a new sub harness to the new location?
This is simply an alternate method to save time/effort and leave the original wire harness/connector intact if you don't wanna deal cutting/splicing/crimping
Worked great! Mine did not break off like his did but used a tiny screwdriver to snap the fitting on the top. You can see it with a well placed flashlight. Thanks👍
You wasted 5 minutes of my time rambling like u on drugs without clearly explaining the process.
Thanks for the video! I was able to use the factory harness, and the check engine light has not returned (yet).
Nice tip. Just used it 👍
It's was really helpful thank you so much
