How I Changed My Life After Buying a Class C RV

Well I finally did it. I've been researching and talking about living on the road for years. I sold my home to move into a camper and live a nomad lifestyle. In this first episode, I go pick up my new rig but first I get insurance, safety checks and license plates in preparation for the transfer. Then we take it home, place a few things in it and then I find myself in a truck stop for the night...
Why Water Purification Isn’t as Simple as You Think
Просмотров 8 тыс.Месяц назад
A lot of interest lately about water purification. As big industry pollutes our water supply more and more, clean water on trail and in the outdoors is becoming more important. Such things as Giardia and NoroVirus become growing concerns. Along comes the Steripen and other ultra violet water purification systems. Is this the next level of water purification? Watch to find out.

@@Dan-s9n7c good info. Thanks
@ you’re welcome
Another solid video. We released a portable air pump for off-road use. Can we invite you to do a review? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Sure. I'll respond to your email.
I have a very similar one that I’ve jumped 3 motorcyles and a couple cars plus used to charge my phone … really handy, I do check it every 6 months to make sure charge is up.
They give me comfort. Towing isn't cheap.
That's a really good product to have it seems. Thanks for sharing! What is the cost of that item?
I paid $270cdn so maybe about $200USD?
@AdventureQuencher That's not bad for up to 40 charges without having to charge it. Thanks for showing this product to us. Woot woot...!
My pleasure. Hope you're well.
Handy to have as long as you keep it charged. I have a similar jumper and figure it paid for itself in the 2 times that I used it. A full 2 gallon fuel can gives more peace of mind too. Good Luck, Rick
Ya I have a Jerry can with gas too. Stay tuned. Big surprises coming up. I'm pumped!
Just bought this pack myself. Thank you so much for the review. Glad I made the right decision.
It really is a great pack. Just don't overload it or it gets uncomfortable.
@@AdventureQuencher I spent a long time up last night thinking if I made the right choice. Like yourself I only saw the sizing after I made the purchase. I think I made the right choice going for the 40 since L have other smaller UL bags in the 30 L range. Was looking for something to haul more luxuries for smaller 2 day trips. Basically bought this so I could fit my 2p tent and a chair. Thanks again for the review, made me feel at ease with the sizing as well.
@@Bonkylikestopaddle My pleasure. They will ask you to review it. Could you tell them about my review? It would help me a great deal. I want Grant to know just how much I love their packs
@@AdventureQuencher I sure will. Can you tell me your height and torso length ? Just got the bag in today. Still trying to figure out if I should go for the smaller pack,
@Bonkylikestopaddle Everyone is different. There is a video on their site on how to measure your strap length. It's not like traditional packs. You don't measure your torso. You stand back to the wall and measure from the bottom of your rib cage up over your shoulder and back to the wall. I'm 5'8" but I use a 17.5" strap. Hope this helps. Tell them I sent you please.
Reminds me of my times in the park. I remember the storms in February on Grand Lake. Thank you for sharing your experience with us
It’s wild how much the weather can change in such a short time.
Great video beautiful scenery
Thank you so much.
Looks like fun(despite the wet weather). Sorry your site at Mew flooded out at one point(lucky you had your car and another tent if the one you originally set up flooded out/or high potential of that). Neat tent you have with a awening. With your chair and table, the awening mode on the tent's vestuble cuts out having to tarp over the picnic table. Nice you were able to go back and hike the Western Uplands again. So pretty in the fall!
It was definitely a wild few days!
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure!
What kind of stove system are you cooking on?
In this video or as a whole? In this video it's all listed as the video goes on. Trangia 27-2 UL and jetboil mighty mo. On a thru hike I cold soak.
Fantastic episode and thumbnail as well! So atmospheric, love it
Thank you so much.
Beautiful video!!! ❤❤❤
Glad you liked it!

Cool cookin' in the pine needles 😊 Nice video wish i had know might have come up for a hike.
This isn't the hike I invited you to? I can't remember now. This was back in September. Anyhoo, hope you're well!
This was wonderful. Thank you!

Great video! Beautiful trail. Loved the music also.
Thank you
The storm not so much... 🤭 but the hike in the park looks indeed super nice. Great drone footage, well done and thanks for sharing 👍😀

As always, great vlog. Thanks so much for sharing. That seems like such a beautiful place. Love the drone shots in this video, totally awesome visual effects. Go Groceries Go....!
Thanks Jason! Cheers
Pre-RV?
Yes
Nice video. Thunderbox because if you throw a lit cigarette in it, you might hear thunder. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
LMAO I know right. I'm not going to do that though. Don't want to start a forest fire.
Agreed, great video. Cannot figure out how you get a drone to follow you in such tight quarters.. you are a drone master my friend!!
It's DJI top of the line drone. I had to get approved to create a flight plan for it. You have to spend at least a couple grand to get that functionality. I love the shots I get with it though. Oh ya, and it weighs a ton. I would NEVER bring it on trail, only local hikes/camps
@ thanks Q
Nice video. What drone are you using?
DJI
Nice
I believe you could change your oil yourself , an oil change is easy . I believe from seeing you hike your smart enough and you have what it takes to get your hands dirty for that. Im sure you have one but make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector. Looking forward to your next hike ..
Editing now. Weird hike. Camping first, hiking last.
Yes if u don’t do your research beforehand then yes they will rip u off. So research, learn and mistrust and always verify.
Well said. Thanks
Sorry I don’t mean to sound harsh, but with RVs in particular because of such inconsistent quality. U really need to learn how to be handy and do a lot of the minor stuff yourself or u will spend lots. Lucky RUclips has a plethora of tutorials just review multiple. I was a little DIY but never handy with vehicles and appliance maintenance, but believe me I am learning. I’m not rich but I still wanna live this great lifestyle. Keep spreading the joy.
No not harsh at all. I'm learning so much. I'm always open to new ideas so keep em coming. 😊
Reminds me of the boat I had it was a money pit always something.
Ya these are high maintenance for sure.
Let’s not forget how repair shops lot of times take advantage of females 😡 smh
So sad that it still happens
Always get a written quote before doing any work....just sayin Do not pit a lot of extra items on the rig...wait I have a Bluetti and its great!!! I find mechanics take advantage of single women bc they do not think we know whats up
I agree totally. I'm a fast learner. This won't happen again... I hope 😊
When we were getting plans drawn to build our house, our architect told us that the two most expensive words in home design are, “why not?”
lol, yep, I hear ya'. I'll be doing most of my work by myself. I used to build cars and still have a ton of tools. I just needed to know more about RV's and specific things not necessarily related to engines or drivetrains. Like I don't know squat about furnaces or plumbing systems. Cheers dude!
Not surprised on the price. The same happens with service at a car dealership which is why we never go there for service, except warranty/recall claims. Hopefully the RV community can let you in on independent businesses that can do a good job at a reasonable price for you. BTW, I would have kept the panels rather than let the dealer keep them to sell again to someone else. I'd take them to a dump or recycling center before allowing a dealer to make $$ on them twice. But that's the daughter of a mechanic coming out in me. 🤣
Already happening. I love how tight knit this group really is. Warms my heart. Cheers!
don't think she bought it as an investment unless you call freedom of movement, adventures, exposure to distant and near places and memories that some folks never realize, an investment.
Exactly right! 👍
Sorry that you're having these problems. Unfortunately, the state of our vehicle industies is very bad. That's why I own only pre 2000 vehicles and do all of my own work. Hopefully, it will go much better from now on. Have fun. Good Luck, Rick
I'm learning to do all the work myself now too. My new guy is great at showing me the little quirks of my RV. Great experience. I'll be a pro in no time lol.
@@AdventureQuencher Good for you. A "Pro" just means that they get paid to do it. A craftsman/journeyman knows what they are doing. For anything you have to shop around and compare prices and quality. You don't need the best quality for most of your tools. In the US we have Harbour Freight Tools for cheap tools. I think that the Great White North has Princess Auto. Good Luck, Rick
Love harbor freight. Love princess auto too. Just picked up a telescopic ladder to be able to inspect the roof. Really enjoying it. Right now though, I'm battling mice. Getting the whole undercarriage foam sprayed and will leave it bucket traps
From what Ive seen regarding rv's, they are rarely a good investment. Mechanically, ok Structually a pos! Even the most expensive ones are poorly made. But hey, everyone wants bright and shiny! Its unfortunate but every disappointment is a learning experience. Cheers ahead.
Mine is over 5 years old and works perfectly so far. That was just for a regular maintenance and oil change on my generator. The propane was working perfectly too as it was just inspected 3 weeks ago when I bought it. It passed all the safety standards which is why this shocked me. Clearly just a cash grab.
Congratulations on your new home. Wishing you many years of good adventures.
Thank you so much. Very exciting. 👍
I understand you wanna head south for the warm weather but there’s nowhere to hike in Florida 💁🏼♀️ one of the reason why I moved out of there after 23 years 😂 But if you need recommendations about places to visit I will be happy to help… I did numerous roadtrips all over FL, GA, SC, NC, VA… just let me know. Good luck with this new chapter in life; seems like lots of fun and learning new things. Sending love ❤
I miss the AT. Might go up there and go up as far as station 19, 276 miles in.
Why don't you stay in campgrounds or out n the woods?
They're all closed for the winter up here in Canada. I'll be going to Florida in a month and already have a site booked. I've just been boondocking lately.
New adventures are great! Look forward to see where you end up.
Ya me too. 🤪
Renting RVs would be good before making such a large investment
Yes I agree. I'm loving this lifestyle so far. Sure there's growing pains but once you know your rig it gets easier. What doesn't get easier is that it's so popular that parks and spots to go get harder and harder to find. I sure do hope that more places start opening to accommodate the growing number of people living this way.
The weather's been nice in central Florida. Come on down!
Is that where you are? I'll be there in late November.
Wow. Welcome back and congrats on the RV. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Thanks Chickpea. Hope you're well
Nice video. Towing a car can be hazardous for some cars. Putting the front wheels up on a dolley can help but, if the vehicle is 4wd it may need to be put on a trailer. An awful lot of car, truck, RV, and real estate agents will do their best to rip you off. Instead of winterizing, can you heat the tanks for the short time until you head south? Have fun with this new adventure. Good Luck, Rick
I have the Arctic package but that's not enough for Canadian winters. I'll winterize it until I get to Florida. Oops, I gave it away. Florida bound! Hiking here I come
Think about staying at a Huskey. All those tuckers, they got you covered. The adventure begins my dear. You might want to get some solar panels for when you're boondocking, just a thougt😁🎼🎸
Got portable solar. You'll see my setup when you come. Cheers
Don't worry, you'll figure it out as you go along.
Hope so. 😊
Now is the perfect time to go to Quartzsite. You can park that big thing and use a motorcycle to run errands and such
Looking forward to that. I'm flat towing my car and will do just that. Thanks!
It wouldn't be until about February though as I'm in Florida until late January
Hey Groceries!! I just arrived at Station 19E and going in to check it out. I remember when you went there having a good time!
Awesome! Ya I vortexed there. Have one for me!
