Is there no way to avoid the first flurry if you are in the middle of attacking her? If so It's really a shame keeping distance the entire time is the meta on how to beat bosses because of moves like this.. either that or outnumbering them. It makes melee 1v1 such a poke grind unless you over level stats. Then again, this game is very structured around waiting and learning moves, not to mention how cryptic everything is. It seems like it was made to be played over a long period of time instead of how the internet collectively speedran it and looked everything up. Like it is designed for the player to be high leveled at this point

I think this is one of the things that puts me off of Elden Ring. What you would think to be the best weapons to stun a boss (i.e. Colossal Weapons) are not. Instead, it's a club with mud on it. I'm all for encouraging experimentation, but the results shouldn't be too antithetical to expectation.

When I first played elden ring, I had no idea that there even is such thing as stance breaks, because I played with katanas (no poise damage) and didn't use ashes of war, since the game didn't tell me that unsheathe requires a follow up input, so I never figured that mechanic out. I don't remember if the game teaches you about stance breaks in the Cave of Knowledge, but even if it did, I would have forgotten about it after hours of playing without seeing it in action.

maliketh is such a good boss. he’s really fast and aggressive, and yet you still have plenty of openings to attack him (parrying him in his second phase is so fun too). the pace of the boss fight flows so well: there’s not many awkward pauses or intervals of “waiting for your turn” like other bosses. wish Elden Ring made more bosses like this

It's clearly not meant to be dodged, you are supposed to throw a freeze pot at it. The problem is that even throwing the pot early enough is hard as fuck
