@@peacefulexplorations As someone who loves this great city, your videos are the best (along with this gemini) because they great variety of the city, especially the historically important areas often overlooked by others, and I appreciate the time it must take to visit all these places (although I am sure it is fun, like the Chicago Marathon, running through all the diverse neighborhoods).

I love that and I appreciate it so much. I like the diversity of the city and exploring the neighborhoods. It makes chicago more known and I always have fun lol. Traveling through the city and seeing different cultures are so cool. It’s amazing to see the architecture and how others are in their actual community. Those are definitely great places to live and the neighborhood is very nice. Give the suburban vibes but you’re also very close to the city of Chicago. So you can travel directly to the downtown area - Randolph and Fulton Market Districts for great vibes and food. Downtown Oak Park is great for restaurants - shopping and arts. The post office (I used to work at) is within walking distance as well. Has great community and courageous (restaurant) - is soooo good. Nice little breakfast cafe that is so awesome. Definitely worth moving to. Also - check out my other video of Oak Park - it’s a look inside of the actual neighborhood. Not just the downtown area there. I love California as well though! We thought about moving to California for photography reasons but our family is here - so I totally understand about wanting to move to be closer to your son.

A working-class neighborhood has evolved over the years, shaped by waves of immigrants and industrial development. Old Chicago 1800s Workers Cottage homes and as you say the pit in front. As that lower level is the original surface of the area before streets were raised and filled after new sewer lines were laid including many other neighborhoods and the core region The community once faced issues like standing water, mosquitoes, and flooding, leading to the nickname “Ducktown.” Wealthier areas had homes raised thru Chicago, but poorer ones show this dip from the street-surface in what was the original level for the street also. The workforce once consisted of Irish, Germans, Swedes, English, and native-born Americans. Even after the arrival of Polish and other Eastern European immigrants in the early 20th century, the neighborhood retained its predominantly English-speaking character. Today, the racial and ethnic makeup of the community includes a mix of different backgrounds. In 2020 the appr. pop. was 15.4% as White, 1.2% as Black, 52.8% as Hispanic, and 30.0% as Asian. Seems aspects of Chinatown transplants also continue to move in with the largest group as Hispanic Mexicans.

I never knew this. Excellent historical information - I like the evolution behind different neighborhoods and it seems so cool to see the differences for each community. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome piece of history.

Helps so much with the vibe of my videos. My next one is such a nice quiet feel - but very fall like but so peaceful.

I love that! When I go into different areas - I think of how this is like a movie or novel. It’s like a nice gloomy fall like setting - with the Victorian and brownstone house.

Hey 🇬🇧☺️ It is 10:20 am! About to get my day started with going to film a few neighborhood videos and then relax! Everyone is getting ready for thanksgiving tomorrow - it’s my birthday tomorrow too! I’m super excited - I’m not doing much. But it’s the joys of celebrating another year 🙂 How was your day or how is your day so far! The Christmas bus is so cute - they decorate different bus routes every year and I love that. The market was super busy for a Tuesday afternoon lol! But everyone is in the holiday spirit and having fun. I love that. The hot cocoa is really good. How is the German market there? I feel like ours is a bit smaller than most places but it is still pretty cool to see the different things offered. I hope you’re having a wonderful day! ☺️

Thank you so much! 🙂 It was fun walking the neighborhood - I’ve driven past a few times but never really stopped to actually look around. Yes that was Whitney Young High School. It is a magnet school and one of the best high schools in Chicago. I love their campus. It definitely looks more like a college lol. I cannot wait to go back during the Christmas season with the snow falling - I’m sure it would be absolutely beautiful. @ Yes it is morning here - I had no clue you all were 6 hours ahead of us lol. That is something that I would love to experience as well! I’ve traveled but only in the United States. Macy’s is super popular and they always have great window displays. I plan to go back down there during the week. I hope your day goes well also! 🙂

It was so strange - we weren’t expecting that much snow so quickly. But it was so nice and very beautiful. It is back to rain here too. I would love to come visit the UK one day. During the snow and warmer months. It looks so beautiful there 🧡

The UK has the same problems as the rest of the world but we do have a lot of historical stuff. Lovely villages, country parks etc. Unfortunately the country grinds to a holt with the first snowflake falls.

Really? Everything keeps going when it snows here. The streets will be so dangerous here and the city won’t shut down at all. I would love to visit villages and the parks. Everything just looks so beautiful and I love the architecture. That would be a dream.

@@peacefulexplorations I really hope you get your wish to come to the UK. We very rarely get a white Christmas though. Where i live the last time was 2009. Chicago looks lovely in the snow. I watched your Christmas video of the park with all the lovely lights you posted last Christmas. It was beautiful.

@ OMG! 2009?? That seems like forever. We always get snow - the White Christmas but it is followed by -10 degree weather lol! It gets so cold here. I couldn’t imagine not having a white Christmas every year. The snow makes Chicago even more beautiful. Aww thank you! I truly appreciate you watching my videos. I try to show as much as I can. Chicago is a very beautiful but unique place. We have so many different neighborhoods and cultures. I love it. I really hope that I do. We have so many tourists here for the holidays - it is so nice. @ I’ve encountered angry people twice lmao. But ironically it was downtown. I never have anyone get mad with me filming in the actual neighborhoods. Most of the time people just smile or wave and ask what socials are we on so they can view the videos we film. I’ve had a lot of people ask that in the areas on the South Side.

Everyone knows Downtown Chicago but going to different neighborhoods is fun and you see a lot of culture and history. Not to mention the vibes of people and how their communities are run. I love it. Brings so much light to the city.

I loved it! I was actually headed to Winnetka today but the roads were so slippery and a bit dangerous to drive around. I think this snow caught the City off guard with clearing the roads and etc. but that is exactly where I was headed. I can’t wait for the snow to fall so we can capture it! I’m super excited 🥰🧡

The Fulton Market is open everyday. It’s a mixture of various restaurants that you can visit 🙂

Absolutely! I think going in the evening is so much fun. There are a ton of restaurants at the Fulton and Randolph Market area. The Randolph Market area is literally a few blocks from the Fulton Market District. A lot of restaurants and it is such a vibe.

😂😂 I do plan on going to Englewood eventually. I have worked all over Chicago. Especially being a photographer - we have worked with the City of Chicago and a lot of other organizations. So I kind of know what areas to walk and frequent without it being an issue lol. I am doing Hermosa and/or Portage Park area tomorrow. Should be available by Friday or Saturday 🙂

I grew up on the east side lol. Calumet Bakery was my favorite place to go for donuts and we also got their cakes. I loved it. They closed down ‘temporarily’ but I go to the one in Lansing now. I grew up in Jeffery Manor and then we moved to South Deering - where I also walked on South Chicago and went to Joseph Warren Elementary lol. I love the Southside. It is my favorite place to be. But I also like the suburban areas - it’s a lot to explore as well. I think you can learn from both areas and it helps be well-rounded in a sense. I love Calumet Fisheries and Hienies Fish & Shrimp. I still frequent those two locations.

It really is and I cannot wait to capture it in the winter time. It is so beautiful and I love everything about it. I like the Green Bay trail - I used to walk and ride my bike when I delivered in Lake Forest.

I haven’t actually taken the metra in so long lol. But I do plan on taking it this Christmas to capture the lights and decorations.

I love Oak Park - it is so nice and peaceful. It’s like having the city vibe without being in the city. I’m definitely coming to Winnetka once it starts snowing a little. Winnetka is so pretty in the snow.
