I love the Englewood neighborhood. I love this walk around the area. I’ve mentored many students here & so happy they are remodeling. Thanks for doing a neighborhood walk here. Many people wouldn’t but I’m glad it was you. It makes me proud to be able to see & appreciation Chicago.
@@Michaela-cu6zx I love that they are putting money and value into the neighborhood. I love Englewood - it has so much history and the community is strong. I love that. I'm so glad you like the video and appreciate all the love for Englewood. It’s truly a nice area. I really like going to other neighborhoods and showing the culture and community. It is a great thing to see and very vital for people to have. Thank you for your comment 🧡🧡 I appreciate it a lot! 🥰🥰
Hi Chicago UK here, loved the walk around englewood, it looks like they are breathing new life into the area. I hope you are doing well. Its 7.30pm here in a very chilly uk. I hope your day is going well and have a great rest of your day.
@maxinepreston7601 Hey! How are you? I am doing well - it is 2:14 pm here and COLD LOL. It is 23 degrees today. They are definitely putting so much into the Englewood neighborhood - it is so nice and I love the work they have done so far. I hope you have a very wonderful evening and that it warms up soon for you all! As I hope we have warmer weather in the near future lol! Has the flooding stopped there? I truly hope it has 🧡
Yes Englewood definitely looks on the up. There's still a lot of flooding about and it will get worse when the snow melts because the water has nowhere to go. We haven't got snow here but Wales and Northern areas have. Its going to be -5 tonight. Where the UK is our weather is decided by the jet stream. So one half of the country has snow and others don't!. Not as bad as the poor souls in California, losing their whole lives work. I hope if you have relatives there they are safe. Enjoy the rest of your day, its now 9.pm here now. Take care.
@@maxinepreston7601 I was hoping the flooding would be gone by now but I totally understand that. It gets like that here at times. But probably not how you all experience it! -5 degrees? I had no clue it was that cold there! We have freezing cold but not every year. I hope you are staying warm during this time. I truly hope it warms up very soon. And yes - I am praying for Los Angeles a lot. So many people have been devastated by this fire. I pray they are able to recover and rebuild. Thank you so much and if you have relatives there - I pray they are okay as well. It is definitely heartbreaking to see so many people lose their homes 🧡🧡
@@peacefulexplorationsyes it can get cold here. It's -10 in Scotland now. Yes, its horrible in cali, so sad to see people lose everything. I don't think we've got relatives in cali but we do in Canada. Enjoy the rest of your evening and please take care.
I use to spend so much time visiting family in the 80’s in Englewood. Seeing how 63rd and Halsted has transformed over the years is still shocking to see, mostly because I haven’t been in that area much over the years. But I’m glad to see the positive changes coming to the community!
They have really changed 63rd and Halsted. I really like the changes to the area. I think they are building condominiums or more modern apartments in the area as well. Such a wonderful sight to see. Looking forward to visiting again to see what else they do!
Grew up in Englewood. It's amazing how much has changed in the over 50 plus years since my dad bought our first house there. 63rd & Halsted was a thriving shopping corridor with Sears & Roebuck as it's commercial anchor in the 60's & 70's. Now it only has the little shopping center with the new Kennedy King College as it's anchor. All my family and friends I grew up with in the neighborhood are either dead, or long gone from Englewood now....
This is still amazing to hear. My mom talks about different things on the southside - she grew up in the Ickes and shared so many stories about the mom and pop shops they had. The theatre that was in the Bronzeville area and etc. I love hearing about the community and learning about how things were. I love that. A Sears? It was where Kennedy King is now? I love the changes to the community and the rebuilding they are doing. But I would’ve loved to see that back then! We have so much history and culture than we realize until speaking to someone who actually lived it.

Southside has some of the nicest housing stock in the city. I love those 2 flat greystones, I need to get one.
Definitely does! I love the houses on the Southside. The greystones - brownstones - mini castles. Southside has the best architecture in my opinion.

Is the hospital still there? St. Bernard?
Oh yes! St. Bernard is still there 🙂 I saw a few workers putting up the “We are a community” signage when passing. So very nice to see.
Back in 1981 I accidentally sliced my finger and was transported to that ER. It was called Englewood Hospital, at the time.
@ I wonder why they changed the name of the hospital instead of keeping it as Englewood Hospital.
