This song wasn't horrible, different style from what we heard in the prior album for sure. It's a fun lighthearted song that still made a mark in the charts and a contributor to the overall success of the album. No Son is probably my favorite off this album. You raise a good question of this album; legacy of leaving this as the last Collins era album... makes me wonder if they had intentions to end here unbeknownst to fans or if this was a test of re entry after being away for so many years. If you look at the range in styles and moods of the album it almost appears like it was a culmination of some final efforts from all three with some obvious Collins songs.

I love Genesis, and Phil and all related but man you really need to expand. At least a little, you know Genesis helped inspire a whole generation of progressive rock starting in the 80s with a slew of great bands in England (NWOBPR - New Wave of British Progressive rock like Marillion, Pallas, IQ, Pendragon, Twelth Night and more). Then the Neo prog movment in the 90s (Anglagard, Spocks Beard, Dream Theater, Flower Kings) and on and on. You are going to go nuts just collecting one band (hence the let down you mention in the video).

Hey Scott, it is not my favorite song on the album but I have to give it the credit it deserves. You can’t have ABACAB without Who Dunnit? Same with this we can’t dance without I can’t dance. Or the other songs you mentioned. It’s all part of the Legacy of Genesis. Enough said.

I remember when this album came out. My bestie and I listened to it from start to finish. I said that this song would be the biggest hit off the record. My bestie hated it.

I am so happy that You might Recall was your #1. DEFINITELY should have been on Abacab! On the shoreline also superior to about 2 or 3 tracks on We can’t dance. Great video!

Tell Me Why was not released as a single in the U.S. Never A Time WAS released in the U.S. and went to #21 despite there being no music video made for it. It was released in early 1993 some 15 months after the album. Considering all that, I'd say it did pretty well.

I don't hate the song so much as the imagery from the video, and how it came to define the band. After that, whenever there was a mention of Genesis on TV, we immediately see them walking awkwardly in a line. The cover of 'The Way We Walk' didn't help. They did it to themselves, I guess.

The song had nothing to do with the rise of dance music popularity; it was poking fun at dumb male models who think they can sing.

I thought it was catchy when it first came out, but I always find it a cringe-worthy moment when they played it live.

I have to say, that I really love this song. It's actually one of my favorites, maybe in my top ten Genesis songs. But for me it's nostalgic and everytime I have a party with my friends, we play this song and do the silly walk.

No way. I thought it was just a blues number. In 91 dance music like house was still underground or a sub culture although there was some pop variety, it was coming around.

I believe it is a pop novel song in contrast to the songs with heavier subjects: No Son of Mine, Never A Mind, and Since I Lost You for Connor Clapton.

There's a documentary on the making of this album seen it when it was originally released on ABC television its also an extra on the we can't dance dvd audio from the box sets. I also seen this tour at three rivers stadium in Pittsburgh PA

I got a couple of New Age CDs featuring Anthony Phillips by Asha Denis Quinn named Amadora and Mystic Heart. I like them very much. Spot The Pigeon 7 inch looks interesting. I got the 12 inch and CD single plus CD mini single. My 12 inch is black Atlantic. I love Steve Hacketts Voyage Of The Acolyte, but I can understand people not liking it too. The song The Hermit is very tranquil if you like New Age music. Steve Hacketts music can be a bit acquired taste. Star Of Sirius where Phil Collins sings has a lot of tranquility too.

My grandparents have this album on CD, the track listing is really good and that clear vinyl looks really cool!! 😁👍

Feeding the fire in the place of "Anything she does" ( an awful song) and Invisible Touch would have been perfect.

It´s such a shame that "It`s youself not be included in "A trick..." with "Los Endos " as an only song.

In Salisbury England for a trip I picked up an original UK …But Seriously and then a 7 inch single for If Leaving Me Is Easy where the sleeve folds out into a giant poster of Phil, awesome!!

You forget One for the vine , the best song from Wind and Wuthering ... Afterglow is a very good but it not deserves the top ten. One of the best songs from Genesis in all this carreer is "The fountain of Salmacis " a superb masterpiece.

If you ever find a vintage 70s genesis record for a good price 10-20 dollars theres always a catch. I got a copy of Foxtrot for 15 dollars. Although it was on the charisma press and obviously vintage it was a little beat up, notched, and not a gatefold. Next day i found Nursery Cryme and when i got back home realized it was on the Elektra label :/

I reckon Paperlate is a cool 45 if you come across it. I also love the shorter version of Abacab on the 45 single.

We've all been there. You walk into a place, store #500 of "nothing special"...but then you find a treasure trove, and at really great prices. The blood drains from our brains and it's hard to think. Do we have that? Where are we again? What day is it? If we're lucky, we remember to walk out with at least something we want!

I've never seen that dark green pressing of 3SL. Might have to check into that!

I myself, when going to record stores go to the stores with high expectations to find record (s) that I've been looking out for. Though, I can honestly say that I can count on one hand within 1 year, that I find treasures in the record stores. I'm like a kid in a candy store when record shopping. I know that you're a musician. Is the drums one of the instruments that you play? If so, do you play those Genesis songs with Phil's amazing drum fills?
