The BEST GRAPPLERS in fighting games
6:41 is random as hell for the word nigga like lmao
Why was he even playing desires in hero? You run so many searchable one ofs that its not even worth the risk
IDK why people still play this game. It's so complicated
had an unbelivably fun game the other day, it was back and forth, response, rebuild, takedown. took 8 turns (4 turns each) for me to get the kill, which i only managed to get because my opponent had sacrificed 3000 LifePoints intermittently. cyber twin dragon has *always* been at my back, and the fact that he won me this game is proof of that.
Slap city is the only smash clone to actually rival smash as a "game" rather then just a competitive vehicle.
Unpopular opinion probably, but I always hated removals in yu-gi-oh. The kid-me did not consider that as dueling. Oh my opponent did some clever strategy to outmaneuver me and bring out a tough, hard to summon monster, just for me to use a single card like "fissure" or something to end it? "WoW I'M SuCh A DooEELiiSTT MMMANNNG!!!" I always preferred monsters clashing, diverting attacks, cancelling attacks, powering up, powering down each other, negating effects, resurrecting etc and as far as removals go, I only approved of removals that are not as easy to use as "slaps down raigeki and that's it" but have some tougher prerequisites to be actually played.
Stopped playing after the first wave of synchros, every video i see discussing the games current state makes ripping out your own teeth sound both cheaper and more fun.
Hand traps are cancer and should be banned.
I missed the old Yugioh big time games would last 4 to 5 turns at least it was better balanced since you needed to run real trap cards. I hate modern yugioh where someone can have a 15 min turn that shit sucks
Bro change the battery in your smoke detector, holy hell
Hows does this game compare now that rivals 2 is out
Dis is why I love pokemon tcg (they're somehow keeping it well-rounded)
i rememebr back in my days we use to jsut play for fun and have fun with a single archetype or make a nice combo with them like the anime but now it all jsut meta and all this negating and defeating your opponent in a single turn while takng about an hour long making a fricken combo when they can jsut end it in jsut 30 seconds its also reason why i go with classic/anime style of dueling where i jsut play my deck with my favorite no matter what and no meta modern overuses card
You're speaking facts but YGO players will still suck off Komoney and say it's fair because they think it's still 2004...
Kinda late t the topic, but better late than never. So, the issue is like you said at the end. It is not G, V or D. It is Bushiroad. I start playing with friends in 2011 by importing japanese cards to Brazil, until we got english support. From 2012 to 2017 I tried to contact Bushiroad for a partnership. Both as as player and as a Juridical Person ( LGS). Their replies were: " Greetings. We are currently evaluating our positions and Brazil is still not on ou scope yet. We apreciate your attention, Kind regards, ______ ( not gonna put their name, tho). " Five years sending E-mail over e-mail just for a single BCS. The store we were associated, back in the day, was an official retailer and things were okay. UNTIL they start imposing us to buy products we knew it wouldn't sell here. If Vanguard were already viewed with prejudice from MTG players because of the Big breasted Loli arts in Bermuda Triangle, imagine our store trying to sell Luck and Logic? Then, we simply parted ways with Bushiroad and started buying boxes from Ebay and from Troll and Toad. And you can guess what happened? People started to not attend at locals because the tournament fee went up by 5,00 BRL ( like 1,75 USD back in the day). With no people, the store became focused on Yugioh, MTG Pauper and Pokemon Standard. Because, eating is more important, tho. But the debts vanguard gave, still haunts us until this day. More than 10000 BRL. We also saw a shift in the internal market at that point. We had 4 big online stores, "CardCapital .com .br", "Duelshop .com .br", "Duplocritico .com .br" and "insidegamesstore .com .br". At the end of 2015, Duelshop stopped buying vanguard products. two years later, Duplocritico that was 100% vanguard focused stated bankrupcy, and Insidegames also stopped buying supplies. Meanwhile 2 other stores appeared, "Cardzone. com .br" and "Legion Card Games ( Legioncg .com.br)", those 2 latters also stated bankrupcy and Legion even took money from a lot of players and it was a heavy lawsuit. When i talked to the owner of Duplocritico that was a friend of mine, he said: Nobody is paying that much money on a casual game without any oficial support from the company. There is a player here pissed off that he spent 800 BRL ( 320 USD at that time) on two copies of Nextages to use its' effect once, and lose to a dudley deck one quarter of that price, because the guy got a heal and critical. And tbf, I understand that trigger sack is part of the game, but let's be realistic, in a game that has 0 organized play in the country and everything is made by players, with players for players, spend that much money on 2 cards and losing to luck-based mechanic really feels like they hit the nail. So, Vanguard started to diminish here in both playerbase and market position at the end of G. And from the 3000+ players we had back in 2014 WITHOUT ANY OFFICIAL SUPPORT ! In the period from G-BT09 to G-BT12 was like 200 players if most. But by surprise of many, G-BT13 brought a new light to the format in the hands of Maelstrom, Yasuie and Gaia, A.K.A. three stupidly cheap decks that everyone could play. Then, zoo EB brought even more light with Musketeers being a cheap option to play the game in full power. We had again 1000 players back. And everything was flourishing again. Until the Fire Nation, i mean Bushiroad, rebooted the game. And all the expensive cards people had and tried to trade for cheaper decks went down in price and some even wasn't worth selling. At the same time, it brought a lot of old players back to the format, which stagnate the community in 1,200+ players. Until overdress. That was the kick for a lot of players, and most of them, myself included, sold all the cards in Ebay and moved on with this game. Right now, São Paulo, the city with like 55 card shops, has an online community of 100+ players. with at least 20 from other regions that mostly play remote fights. And was in this bad scenario that Bushiroad finally give us a BCS. Which is needless to say that it flopped with only 29 players. In a continental-sized country, they make an announcement within' few months ahead. Flight trips are really expensive, tho... So, the issue with vanguard is, and only will be, Bushiroad.
Old plYer ( 2012) and from Brazil here: Vanguard lost its' shine in the second Stride Era ( A.k.a. G-guardians/G-BT07). But it was losing it since G-BT03. You see, during G-BT01,, they announced the GRs. Which were ONE per set. But G-BT03 pushed it to 2. And that was a punch in the gut, because those cards were 1- A shadow Paladin that wasn't great but was nostalgic 2- Literally THE card that made Messiah Playable back in the time. Also,, they increased the number of RRRs in the set, and remember that until G-BT13, GRs, RRRs and RRs competed for the same spot in a pack. Also, from G-BT03 forwards, ALL finishers or power plays were in the GR spot. With some sub-optimal cards in the RRR spot. And all main deck cards that were important for deckbuilding were either RRR grade 3s that did exactly the same thing ( GB2 yada yada yada; On stride yada yada) or were a combo piece that only worked on R. And that's not all. Because since G-BT01 we had Persona Flips. And the issue with them is that a 20$ card suddendly turns into a 40$ effect. You literally double the price for a single usage of an effect... That was power crept 1 collection later. This align with the fact that prices were increasing and that buahiroad, during that time, "WERE DOING A LOT OF EFFORT TO DO. FAVOR TO THE ENGLISH FANS AND BRING THE GAME WORLDWIDE"( /s), made the game ruin all competitive scene in Brazil. During that time, Bushiroad had a weird rule that Official retailers were obligated to buy Luck and Logic, Buddyfight and Weiss products if they wanted to have sanctioned tournaments ( they were dumling stocks of unsold content, becauae there's only Vanguard here during that time, period. Weiss sells to anime collectors, which nobody wanted, buddyfight saw like 200 players in a continental-sized country and we do not talk about the Lolicon game. So, we had no OTS, meaning no promos and stores were buying boxes from othwr official retailers in Netherlands and from Coolstuff. Inc). Also, Second G was the collection that FORCED Bushiroad to reprint cards for the first time in the entire existence of the company ( and in forced, it is literally it. They didn't want to reprint cards at all. But the english playerbase forced them to. That and the fact that they made a Daigo deck only for Japan) becauae peices were becoming so absurd that a Bladewing Reijy Playset was priced about 2/3 of the entire deck because Bladewings got an amazing support back there. And yes, while the end of G was the best Vanguard we ever had ( even better than Limit Break Era, where every clan was balanced ... Exepct Gold, Narukami and Aqua Force... Of course), it had A LOT of issues with many cards literally doing the same: drive checking. Kagero - up to5 drives; Royals - 4 drives; Gold - 4 drives; Tachi - up to 9 drives; Shadows - 4 drives; Novas - up to 6 drives; Gallop - 4 drives; Aquas - the usual 4 drives; Gran Blue - 4 drives;... So, decks would in fact do almost the same, with few alterations between them. In fact, the one i liked the most during that time was Chaos Breaker. You could easly play on a budget using 4 Limit Break + G-EB03 chaos Breaker, most cards locked from hand or GY, bypassing the absurd number of <<Resist>> cards in the game and you could pay only one copy of the GR that you'ld get the experience to play with it, meanwhile, the chaos piece you needed was pretty cheap and the other stride was also cheap. Because it was cheap and functional, not becauae the playstyle. Meaning that other decks, like Nova Grappler ( my main deck since 2012) was absurdly expensive. And yes, the Zeroth Dragons were an Absurd in both rarity and price. They still are, tho. V was a hellhole not only for what it did to premium, but how they did it. We were in a transtion between G-BT13 to G-BT14/G-EB03 and we already knew about the Reboot and how the cards would be. Which made a lot of decks literally useless because THE TRIGGERS killed them. Not the gifts, not the 13k base, but actually the increase in defensive power on grade 1 and 0s and also the 10k value on triggers was the main issue that killed 99% of the old cards. Also, Draw PGs were absurd back in the day because you could make more room instead of using a gimmicky card that Kinda... Made sense because you needed more combo pieces and the deck limit was tight. But there another reason people hates V more than Overdress: The 1st reboot made ALL price drop to 1/10 of fhose cards real value. Like, i still have one SP chronojet from g-bt04 that i've bought for 10 USD, and few SGRs, like Favorite Champ, Shigaraku Buster, Afanc and the Owl from Great nature that i forgot the name, which was in a BULK. So, people got pretty pissed off that they carss rotated out and was a HARD rotation, that cards from the Bermuda clan set had weeks legal in the format ( also, f+×÷ Bermuda players and their glued cards, buf yeah. They had like 3 weeks until the hard rotation drop). And yes, Overdress has a lot of issues, with the Energy Generator being the elephant in the room, but not that big than the disaster that was V.
I agree with you on this. People need to use the correct term in order to better represent the genre and anyone who denies that is part of the problem.
YGOs problem is simple. It just became too fast. When the most you can expect, bacause of FTK meta, is seven cards in hand at at most two battle phases, card design is encouraged to print rampant carddraw and tutor fodder, and try to induce complexity within those two interaction steps. The reaource system was supposed to be the one normal summon per turn, and your cards in hand, but the constant printing of new free summoning methods gradually eroded that to the point where now it no lonver matters. I wonder if special summons got limited per turn, it would be a magical solution to all its ailments.
Hum, I started playing the older yugioh DS games like Nightmare Toubador just to play a card game again, and I had fun with those. Mostly cause the pacing for each turn is slower, and it actually takes time to build up strong board presences. I remember getting so mad at this game in it's modern era after XYZ's cards, I think (Those black border cards) came out where you're stacking cards (Like solitaire, huehue) to make some beatstick that explodes the entire field. I finally created the deck I wanted but after seeing someone take, I kid you not, ONE HOUR on their turn doing a bunch of nonsense and falling asleep at my chair, and playing two cards on my turn just to watch this guy proceed to take ANOTHER HOUR LONG TURN, I was picking up my cards to leave. He was so invested in his turn that when he was about to attack, I was already picked up and said "You won, bye." and got rid of ALL my cards a week later. Plus, why the heck do archetypes exist in this game anyways? Every deck I see in modern era is the same: There's some BS combo that pulls out cards from the extra deck and calls maybe 3-5 cards turn 1, Every deck has some form of major removal no matter the archetype, Every deck has some sort of control, And every deck plays the same. The only difference is the coat of paint called "Attributes" and "Creature types". At least in Magic, each color corresponds to a specific playstyle. Red is fast and burns, Blue is control and card draw, Green is major resource ramp and Big Beatstick cards. I quit the modern era solely due to watching 10 card combos that win just about every game in a single or two turns while your opponent cant do anything. That's no fun...
Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and anime needs a reboot. I love Yu-Gi-Oh! but jfc it's real complicated and non-interactive (insert more adjectives here.) Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG used to be more fun when it lasted more than 4 turns and even though you wiped your opponent's board out, they could still turn the tables. It needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, imo.
This is why I quit yugioh. It’s basically don’t play the decks you ENJOY and instead play the only the strongest decks. Doesn’t help that komoney keeps making more and more cards that say negate the effect aka only you get to have FUN. This game has gone from something I enjoy to a mess that’s only entertaining to complain about which is sad.
Lmao Komomey nice one
@ Yeah I’ve lost all respect for Komoney that I refuse to call them there actual name outside of there nes, snes and ps1 games.
Saying dragonmaids are tier five made me sad.
Listen to this: Remove bans and limits, and segregate Have many different tournaments, and as such: 1. Duel Monsters (cards released until the end of the original show, with a separate bracket for the Orichalcos decks, normal, fusion and rituals allowed) 2. GX (w/ cards until the end of GX, normal, fusion and rituals allowed) 3. 5Ds (w/ cards until the end of 5Ds, normal, fusion, rituals and synchro allowed) 4. Zexal (w/ cards until the end of Zexal, , normal, fusion, rituals, synchro and xyz allowed) 5. Arc V (w/ cards until the end of Arc V, normal, fusion, rituals, synchro, xyz and pendulum allowed) 6. Vrains (w/ cards from Vrains, all summoning types allowed) And then some formats might be more fun After a while, kill the bad ones and promote the good ones And it'll all be well
Me: So... Can I use Magical Scientist FTK in DM era now? Or even Chaos Emperor Yata-Lock? *Smiling*
@@ViRo02Cas With the advent of all the new handtraps, I'll allow it :)
@@jager0724 Me: *Grinch Smile*
The truth is .. the game was rigged from the start
This game genuinely pisses me off. I play an Anti-Meta deck and I still get absolutely fucked every duel because that's just how fast this game is now! How the hell does anyone even have fun playing this game anymore?
Ok I am late for this video and probably no one will read this but I will try a rebuttal to this video's points 2:00 but isn't this true for negates as well? ATM the only meta deck that puts up 3 negates is yubel fiendsmith, and that is if they go uninterrupted. Like with Handtraps. Imagine you're playing vs branded and ash aluber, then your opponent uses branded fusion, congratulations you made a mistake. This mind game and strategic planning works in the same way holding your torrential tribute worked back in the day. In modern Yu-Gi-Oh you can't really negate everything so you have to plan and know what to respond to. 2:48 This is misinformation, at least in some parts. I wouldn't call stun control, I would call it stax. Now if you regard all stax decks as control decks, good for you, but you wouldn't call all control decks stax. Examples of control that are non stax decks are labrynth and Skystriker 3:17 I am sorry I think you just described a control deck wincon in any game. Azorius control does exactly this, it forces your opponent to play slow so that it will accumulate more card advantage and resource advantage. 4:24 I am sorry I didn't know that you didn't have to randomly draw cards in card games, that you could just guarantee that you see your cards in other card games. I didn't know it was impossible in other card games to draw poorly, get manascrewed or brick. 5:06 So we are in the scenario where my opponent opens all engine and I open (nowadays at least) 4 different Handtraps and a starter. if we calculate this exact scenario it's about 4% of the time. Now I could be more precise but we are assuming that I can fully stop my opponent and he can't set up anything in a game where any 2 monsters on board is at least 1 point of interaction. Dont get me wrong there are cards that cause non games, but every game has some. To name one, chalice of the void on turn 1 for can shut down a lot of decks in Modern. 6:32 I am sorry you might have a point with Spoly, but dark ruler no more? The card that guarantees there is another turn cycle? 7:08 It really grinds my gear how this person thinks about HT. Let's break the reasoning down for a second. "HT are cards you put in your deck in the hope of drawing them, in order to play them." Am I crazy or is this a statement that is true for any card in any cardgame ever. It's also terrifying how he thinks every handtrap is always good in every scenario and how there is no choice or reason for what you put in your deck. Sure, main deck "dark ruler no more" in a labyrinth format, see how far that gets you 7:51 I wanted to say this for a while but what do you mean by broken, stuff is broken only in relation to each other. 8:12 This is something very difficult to explain IMO. Any card game is what Yu-Gi-Oh is, just over more turns. Any card game deck can be roughly summarized in: 1) I have a thing I have to do to win 2) Can I do it faster than my opponent if they don't stop me? if yes I do my thing, if no I need to stop my opponent from doing his thing so I can do my thing. Now this is a gross oversimplification for sure but the structure is there 8:25 OMG stop with this propaganda, there are no good consistent ftk decks that go untouched for more than 2 months in modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Any of the FTK decks that I can remember is either junk or quickly hit on the Banlist and a design oversight. 9:57 Ok finally 10 min in we get to a good point. Yes generic endboard monsters are a bit of a problem, maybe bardiche isn't the best example but maybe they were a year ago (I doubt it though). Having said this, I have 2 thoughts. 1) konami is hitting strong generic boss monsters, like apolla and Baronne, and releasing less toxic and more interactive ones, keeping the negates in archetype 2) Staples can be a thing in card games. Like green in mtg are expected to ramp usually or play big creatures. So there can be some generic stuff mixed in. As long as it's not everything you do. Also snow it's a problem card, much more than bardiche. As on the on purpose part, that's more debatable. 10:21 another kind of good point! I mean there is a reason and the reason is that konami has to sell products to keep making the game but that is beside the point. Konami market practices are despised by everyone, its not a secret 10:56 Ok this is a straight up lie. There are cards you target side for certain decks. This is just wrong. You side for the type of deck only if you don't know what you are doing. Let me make a quick example:"I am playing against runick stun, I am going to side in duster and lightning storm, and I am going to remove Handtraps like ash blossom I use for combo decks" 12:33 This is again not true. Meta and power creep/set rotation is in every cardgame. Decks that are tier 4 are going to be worse than tier 1 decks. Not necessarily because their gimmick is worse, but because they lack the tools to keep up. But that is fine, there are hundreds of decks in YGO, not every deck can be competitively relevant. Sometimes the gimmick does suck though, but that's not because it "doesn't interact well with negation" If you want proof ninja was competitive with 1 single negate and only facedown monster gimmicks
16:03 or a Life gain card or a way to destroy your dd dynamite at the end of your turn. Negates are inherently evil. I can grant you that playing against six Omni negates is basically an FTK, but no deck in the history of YGO has ever gotten to that point. Also baiting out negates isn't the only way to interact with them, you can also force them out by for example activating a raigeki. (I predict you're going to say it's the same thing but I disagree)
17:40 We agree here, no questions asked. Konami doesn't ban new cards cuz money. We don't like it either.
20:27 Wait so support is either too good, good enough or not good enough?
22:12 This changed recently since purrely most deck build packs have been good. Centurion, vanquish souls, purrely, mikanko, rescue ace etc etc. Almost every build deck pack has competetivly playable archetypes
22:46 Or neither of the 2. VV and ritual beasts are recent examples. Strong meta decks that have come and gone without hits on the Banlist!
God, this frustrates me so much. Like, first five minutes of a video. You very very very rarely just negate the first things they play. Yugioh is a game about baiting out interaction. Thats the skill you're using
ur voice checks out ur takes
I have thoughts on this video that I'm going to expand on but the main thing that I do I want to say is that whilst the name smash clone is bad and comes with a negative connotation we also can't ignore the fact that a lot of these games are just trying to be melee 2 in that honestly needs to stop. It's nothing wrong with making a platform fighter but for the love of God if I wanted to play melee I would go play melee.
wow thats so true and terrible (keeps playing master duel)
17:17 Zetta : wastor's sepscail does not interact with the enemy Meanwhile: Mollo interacts with it.
I love this video!
21:15 Is that the smoke alarm going off?
I guess if they buffed the specials when in gem's radius, she would be perfect.
