This is also a step-back week as Summer GRIT comes to an end. However, this week culminates with a 10k time trial on a local route that emulates the challenges of Around the Crown 10k.

    Is the Puma more stable than the Asics Edge Paris, I heel to midstrike strike and pronate a little? Slower runner around 5 min per km, is it okay at slower paces. Looking to complement my older Saucony Pro 3's, is it an upgrade ? Thanks

    • @thecaptainchas2820
      @thecaptainchas2820 6 дней назад

      @@stephenNicholas-i9k it is more stable than the Edge Paris. There is definitely a lot of cushion in the heel, and it responds better the more force you put into the footstrike. I imagine that would be the case with mid pack runners as well. At first, the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 might feel firmer than the Endorphin Speed 3, but make no mistake; it has a much more energetic response. I do think it would be an upgrade.

    • @thecaptainchas2820
      @thecaptainchas2820 6 дней назад

      @@stephenNicholas-i9k definitely okay if you heel strike. I wouldn’t worry about the pronation either. I overpronate quite a bit. The foam is a bit more stable than Zoom X in the Nike racing shoes, and the ground contact base is wider (thus more stable) than the Metaspeed shoes. The AlphaFly would be good for people of all paces I thing, but it won’t be the most stable, except in the forefoot with those wide air pods. The ASICS Metaspeed shoes really lend themselves better to faster running and will be less stable at slower paces. So yeah, I think the Puma will be more accessible for midpackers and still provide a very propulsive feeling.

      @@JW-ri1mb I ran in the Invincible 1, not the Invincible 2 or 3. For my purposes, I’d much rather run in the Eleos. It can do more. It feels comfortable at any pace and distance. In fact, I just did a hilly 19 miles in them this morning at a very easy aerobic pace. The Invincibles were fun for me, but more of a recovery shoe or a squishy shoe for easy base days. If you really want that squishy cushion, I don’t know that the Eleos will give you all of it. But the cushion is bouncy and comfortable.

My only knock on it is the weight of it, it's a little heavy for a speedy racer. But the rubber that they've added does ensure durability though and is good for cornering.
