      Thank you for that. We do stick to existing tracks formed by old forestry roads or the QPWS, but as you point out, many do not. Our local 4WD club has a strong relationship with the QPWS and HQ Plantations who manage the National Parks and state forests respectively in Queensland. The tracks are installed and maintained for forestry management and are used for fire fighting and logging and the like. Clubs are even given special access to drive tracks and report on conditions so they can better direct their maintenance for access safely by their own staff in 4wd vehicles. I certainly agree that irresponsible off road driving can cause environmental issues and we do call this out in some of our videos. People leaving camp fires unattended that can start fires, toilet paper (and worse) left in pristine areas as well as plastic waste left by campers (not all in 4wds) are my pet hates. We even go to the trouble of taking a Porta Potti and rubbish bags in our car so we don't need to leave a mess and will often clean up after others. We actually pick up other's poo in one of our K'gari videos. Thank you again for your comment. It reminds me to make sure in future videos that we continue to call out poor behaviour. cheers Col

This is nothing really to worry about unless you are camped or parked too close of course. There was a couple of caravans lost a few years ago. We were in that spot just a week before that. As my surgeon reminds me, you are not getting a 20 year olds knee. You are getting two chunks o metal separated by a piece of plastic. The operation to install these pieces is quite brutal and it can take many months for the swelling to go. You will get numbness around the knee as there are nerves that are cut and muscles split. Apart from the bones being sawn through. Sounds a bit frightening but it is well worth it for the end result.

My mates Dad used to tell us the river mouth was north of the Island in the fifties but we couldn't imagine it, then in the early 2000's the river mouth once again pushed through on the southern side and no matter how much certain individuals tried they couldn't change it back. Hi Col & Rose There is certainately a lot of history in the old river. Apart from pre settlement/first nations history there are great stories of the cedar cutters rafting logs at Dunethin Rock and floating them down river and out the moutn to be picked up by passing ships. The early settlers trying to carve out a living in isolated spots along the river and the fact that the river was the only "highway"in the area and is the reason why most of the early houses faced the river.

    I'm in my 10th week and just released from PT. For the operation I went into the hospital at 6:15am and walked out at 1:00pm with a walker. I never really had any pain until my celebrex ran out on day 30. Even then it was fairly mild and controlled with over the counter meds. I even stopped those after another week. I ditched the walker at day 10 and used a cane until until week 6 but only because of snow and ice otherwise I would have gotten rid of that when I started driving at day 25. At this point almost all the tightness and swelling is gone. But later in the day after a busy day my knee still swells a bit and I put on the ice machine. Alternating movement, rest, ice and elevation are the key. Sit to long and the knee gets stiff. Movement breaks that up but then swelling starts to set in. Then back on ice and elevation just to get to the point where I can start moving again. It's a balancing act. Oh, and massage. After the ice, I work the scar and around the knee cap with my fingers. Pinch, pull and rub. At this point quad weakness is the biggest culprit. Now being out of PT it's time to get serious in the gym.

      It was alright in the end and it has healed very well. I did watch her wash her hands well before and she did swab it all down so I wasn’t too concerned. But yes she could have done more. Thank you for picking that up. 🙂

    Fraser island to Australians mate

    • @Explornations
      @Explornations 8 месяцев назад

      To some it might be Fraser Island, but that is just the 5th name that I know of. Before it was Fraser Island it was Fraser’s Island named after the captain of a ship that was wrecked. Before that it was Great Sandy Island, and before that was named Great Sandy Peninsular by Mathew Flinders before recent settlers realised it was an island and before that was called K’gari by the local Butchela people. I’m happy to call it K’gari. It’s easier to say when you get used to it.

      Yes we were quite surprised to see that much water flowing. And it had dropped quite a bit over the last few months after all the rain earlier in the year.
