Hi it’s a Dutch dog cocoon. It can fix to either front or rear of bike. Very handy and quite sturdy.

Tbh I had zero expectations and it absolutely blew me away. So much history and natural beauty plus friendly folk and very camper friendly. We’ll definitely be going back.

Cheers 🍻 we have the stock solar and leisure battery with our van to run the fridge, lights etc. For all charging, Tv and other stuff we have 2x Jackery 240 power stations that we can charge when driving, or via our portable solar panel, or mains electric when we’re hooked up. We only have the two smaller ones as we had one already when we went full time in the van, otherwise we’d have a larger one. The only drawback with the smaller jackery’s is they won’t run a hairdryer or charge e-bike batteries.

Hi cheers for the comment 🍻 Our Standard solar panel that came with the van keeps our fridge and lights etc ticking over. We also have 2 Jackery Explorer 240’s for other bits & bobs (tv, dvd, kindles, switch, phone charging). Because the Jackery’s can charge off mains, a compatible folding solar panel, or the 12v in the van when we’re driving, that’s more than enough to keep us going usually. You can get larger Jackerys, the reason we have 2 smaller ones is we already had one before we went full time. We also carry a spare toilet cassette just in case emptying is an issue, but tbh that’s not a problem in Europe (so far!). 🍻👍

@@thelittlestnomad5960 ah cheers - great info and really helpful - we definitely want to do more off than on grid so a Jackery sounds the solution - we will have a small solar and an ok lithium to start with as standard but we’re going to need a boost sometimes too. Spare cassette - great idea too 👍👍👍. Safe trips 👍👍👍

We only overnighted in Neufchâtel but the nice thing about northern France is it’s pretty much on the doorstep, things were only just starting to open in Honfleur but it was lovely and quiet. A lot of the museums are closed early on in the year as well - even along the somme and d-day route.

I think it was the worst road we’ve seen in France 🤣 interestingly, there were folks going through the plowed earth next to the wood - looking for artifacts I expect.

The national parks in that area are tricky tbh. I believe that Gwynedd has, or at least is, setting up European type aires but those are likely to be limited to self contained vans. You might be better off looking for spots outside the national park to sleep. It’s not a huge area anyway so not that much of a chore to drive in and out as and when you want to do things.

Definitely, there’s lots of options out there. We keep finding new ones.
