To your trained ears Terry how close is the DOD to the HM2 in replicating the chainsaw tone? To me they are very similar maybe the DOD has slightly more clarity or presence?

The Swollen Pickle MKIIs NOT the mini Version, is the same as the MKII, the MKIIIs is the mini one with 2 toggles instead of mini pots,The Dirty Donnie has all the pots, including the 2 inside, on the outside. the MKI was WAY HUGE! One reason Tripps named the company that, his pedals were Huge and no surface mount back then so it HAD to be bigger as its an extremely modded Muff

THey lowered the noise floor to get it to sound usable.. ALso, they copied the Japanese version, not the Taiwan made that the Swedish bands used. The TC EYemaster nails that. The Arion Metal Master has twice the bass and gain if you can find one, Have to turn bass and distortion at 2 O'clock (HM2 OCLOCK?) to get the HM2 tone I got an all black and black and grey The Waza is PERFECT. ALSO THE HM2 is a ****Super Fuzz*** not Muff, but can do muff...z they took the Octave out of and used the fuzz topology to make the HM2. technically its a fuzz

Thanks for this video, I've been using the HM-2 for years (All three!) but just got a new amp set up to figure out. New gear: Peavey 6505 head, EVH 5150 2x12, LTD guitar w/ passive Seymour Duncan pick ups. It's going to be devastating!

The Decibelics is so much better - both in sound but that amazing noise floor also. Their V2 includes a mix control, which makes it absolutely perfect. But the other thing to consider is that we are comparing a high-priced boutique build with a mass-produced model. I think Boss missed an opportunity when they made the Waza craft version of this - they could have really done something special. The Decibelics is even better than that.

Where the HM2 loses is it has no gate. I use the Hell Melter on Bass so... no gate is a deal breaker and shows the HM2 is old. Modern Distortion pedals or any pedal that causes hiss or hum or static should have a gate. #EHX makes some of the best gates in the industry. Boss skips or overlooks this feature and that's where the HM2 loses. The Burn feature on the Melter is top shelf on Bass, when mixed with the gate, gives me excellent Distortion. The HM2 Sounds great on guitar but not so much on Bass where the Melter Sounds excellent on both imo. You have more controls and ability to shape the eq curve with the Melter as well. It's no competition unless u have a Boss or TC bias. EHX is 🔥🌞

The only (minor) difference I can hear is a slight shift in the bass frequencies between the two. The boss seems to be heavier on the sub but it's so small I bet it's just components tolerances at work.
