As a fellow Supreme 160 owner, this tickles me.
I would like to suggest another approach: try diming all the eq knobs on the amp and subtract what you don't like rather than starting with everything at noon. The results could end up the same but you'd be surprised how many amps have EQs that are subtractive and not additive, despite the scaling going from 0-10 on the knobs.
Great tips regardless.
This is a good take, but with the Peavey Supreme 160 in particular, it has an active eq on thd dirty channel, so it will cut before noon and boost past noon on any of the eq controls. For anything with a passive FMV tonestack, not a bad option though.
@@Metalzaku The Supreme 160 EQ gets extreme.
That is me with my Laney LH50R. Really opens it up!
you're right on the subtractive/additive part: most amps have a passive EQ (marshall, peaveys, mesa etc...), meaning they can only cut frequencies. Only active EQs are additive (they can add or cut) and are mostly found on 90's solid state amps (peavey bandits etc...)
Thanks for this video, I've been using the HM-2 for years (All three!) but just got a new amp set up to figure out. New gear: Peavey 6505 head, EVH 5150 2x12, LTD guitar w/ passive Seymour Duncan pick ups. It's going to be devastating!
Also, tuned down to A.
Respect Terry, brilliant and useful as always!
I love my '87 HM2.
Awesome video!!!! Great explanations and tone for days!!
Very cool! I'm gonna have to try this out
Awesome man! just purchased a shirt and jacket a couple days ago!
Just purchased a supreme 16O today for 220
Thank you for these awesome videos. 👌
THX for the tips. What you think about marauder peramp pedal? Is bandit preamp in a pedal format.
I have not played that pedal. Could be a great addition.
Put a rat in the mix and make it go into "what the f#çK is this filth" territory! 😉
... love the demos dude🤘🏼
Do you put that rat before or after the hm-2?
@@xXmortitionXx blended, not in the same signal chain.
@@CABALDRUMMER ah I see so like two separate tracks blended together in a mix?
@@xXmortitionXx 🤘🏼 that's it!
I like running it full with the distortion only 10-25%. You dialed in the Supreme well. My only complaint is the audio levels are quiet and the cab is a little boomy. How did you mic this?
IR
I figured that out to after a while messing with a buncha different amps. Use your ears.
dime trem and bass no mids
Hi how do you run the original HM-2 with 9v or 12v? Greetings from Chile!!
So useful!!! Thanks!!!
Pedestrian at its finest. Chug-a-lug
Bro are you in a band or have any original music available to check out?
Not currently. I have a bunch of ideas kicking around in my head. Just need the time to track them.
Do you have intonation issues tuning the Gibson scale BCR down to C?
Not at all. I had it set up professionally and it came out great. 12-60 gauge
i can't afford an hm-2 i have the tc electronic eyemaster and marshall amps. i don't succeed usign this sound even if i have a black doom metal band, i tried usign chainsaw sound but does not cut trough because is a little too fuzzy ;( another hm-2 user suggest using boss ds-1 what do you think? for a little tight bass sound but retaining chainsaw qualities
why do you have cable on the fx loop?
Because I'm lazy. I just need to reflow some fresh solder where the loop connects to the board. Sometimes in older amps joints get small fractures in the solder and you'll experience volume drops. This way by making an external bridge I can put off the maintanance. Like I said lazy. 😄
Me too! Frick’n Peavey’s and their loops.
That is quite possibly the worst guitar tone I've ever heard lol.
Not for you, noted.
The best worst tone ;)
Awesome man! just purchased a shirt and jacket a couple days ago!
